Close for work around the RAI or VU or Zuid (South). 12 minutes on tram #5 to downtown...trams run every ten minutes. If you want to have the 'downtown experience" and not travel, then this may be a little out of the way. But it is a great hotel. Collapse

After an early start, a very long meeting, a late dinner and then a late arrival at the hotel, there is nothing better than a seamless check in procedure and being greeted with a smile. I was checked in and on my way to my very clean and tidy room in no time at all. A typical Express, nothing too lavish, but certainly enough for a weary traveller. Usual Express breakfast fare available in the morning in the spacious breakfast room. Recommend it for a visit. Collapse

We stayed here for a long weekend city break in September and were most impressed. As we didn't know the city well we went to the wrong Holiday Inn prior getting to this one so were quite annoyed/stressed when we got here however once we got to reception we felt much better. The kind receptionists told us all we needed to know about our stay and travel around the city; they even told us how to get in to Central Amsterdam and sold us 2 x 3 day travel passes at a very reasonable rate. The room had everything you need and was quite modern. The hotel was quiet at night and literally 30 seconds walk from the nearest tram stop which took you in to the city within 30 minutes (a little longer on a Saturday). Breakfast and Wi-Fi are free which we thought was great seems as the continental breakfast was quite tasty. We had no issues during our stay in this hotel and the staff even printed our boarding passes for us prior to our departure. Would definitely recommend if you want to be a short distance away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to travel in to central every day, although there are closer hotels. Overall very good! Very nice staff. Clean rooms. Good breakfast. Overall a very good place to stay. Location is excellent, walking distance to small shopping/eating plaza. Also close to public transportation for easy access to attractions and downtown Amsterdam.

We stayed here for 2 nights, 4 of us: 2 adults, 1 thirteen year-old, and 1 eleven year-old. We got a quick taxi from Schipol to the hotel for about 35 Euros. It is just South of the WTC area in Zuidas. They only have rooms for 2 each, so we were in 2 connecting rooms. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms accommodating and clean, but it was a bit crowded -- not much room for all our luggage. If you travel light, it will not be a problem. The hotel breakfast is very good, and had offerings for all of us, including the vegetarian. The shopping area around the corner (less than 5 minute walk) provides a full grocery store, various other little shops (health & beauty, chocolates, eats & drinks, alcohol, a take-away Indonesian, and quick bite stalls, as well as a post office inside the AKO.) There is also a fresh flower shop, women's clothing, hair cuts, electronics, and house supplies. A tram stop for Tram 5 and Metro 51 is a short and safe 5 minute walk toward the shopping area. Both lines will take you into the WTC area where there are many restaurants or all the way into the City Center (about 35 minutes to Central Station). It is also located closely to a quiet residential area, as well as hospitals and a university area. Very safe (we live in this area now, and can vouch for the safety.) The hotel is clean and quiet, the staff was friendly. The bar is small and the eating area can be crowded (go early to avoid the crowd on weekends). They also offer bicycles for rent/hire and there is pay-parking in their lot (pay the machine in the lot) (or if you are willing to walk a bit, parking in the Jumbo shopping area parking lot is free and less than 5 minute walk). If you plan to spend the whole day in the City Center along the canals and don't need to go in and out of your room all day, this is a great place to stay & save some money to spend on other fun things in Amsterdam! Like a private boat ride on the canals or one of the lovely restaurants in the center! Family note: There is a great outdoor playground down the street the hotel sits on (walk away from the tram lines toward the West) about a 6 block walk - suitable for younger and older children, including a basketball court and a sand pit among the usual park play things. There are also lovely paved trails to walk along the nearest canal, about a 6 block walk toward the North. The East end of these trails end at the very lovely Amstel Park (see Trip Advisor for details on this big park) - approx. 2 mile walk from hotel to Amstel Park, shaded with a playground along the trail. A little closer to the West on those trails is the entrance to the Amsterdam Forest (Amsterdamse Bos) with a great café over the rowing pond. The trail around the pond is 5K. The "business center" is a bank of computers in the lobby near the main stairs. Free wifi available. Free toiletries in each room. Our room had black-out curtains (important in summer when the sun is up very early and down late). Collapse
