This is one of the best Holiday Inns I have stayed in friendly, helpful and efficient staff across all areas and the executive rooms were very comfortable and one of the best hotel beds I have slept in. Not an obvious location for enjoying Budapest but an efficient bus and short metro journey should make this worth considering. Definitely will return. Collapse

Slightly out-of-town location but free parking (rare in cities like Budapest) and even a nice small garden. Booking, reception, and the rooms were all considerably above average (very friendly staff), but the real surprise was the restaurant. Apart from a few standard menu offerings of steaks etc the food was authentic and high-class Hungarian. A terrific last dinner to complete our stay in the country. Wild mushroom soup with goose-liver dumplings, duck breast with a sharp local fruit sauce, and the most decadent Hungarian dessert I have ever tasted (Somloi galuska). Collapse

Our one-night stay was a real up and down contrast of experiences. I'll provide more details below, but for now a brief account of pros and cons: +++ Friendly staff Convenient location Nice room interior design Free parking Some sport amenties --- New rooms but already in need of renovation or repair (leaky taps, congested drain pipes, broken coffee maker etc.) Design flaws - no exhaust in bathroom and the mirror has no heating, a nice table is not stable, etc. Serivice is not nearly 4* - lying receptionists, room service emploees dressed as thugs, rooms not made up between the guests, etc. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you don't pay for it at all. Now, into details: I checked in as an IHG Platinum member (and the receptionist acknowledged it), but I redeemed the room for points, so instead of an upgrade, my wife and I were put in a ground floor room, with one set of toiletries, one robe and one pair of slippers, i.e. the room wasn't made for two guests. It had a broket coffee maker (which didn't encourage me to complain) and the bathtub drainage was congested (which made me complain to the management). We were then moved to an Executive Room, with different shower product brand (they were nicer, but extracting thick hair conditioner from a rigit bottle was nigh impossible), working drainage, and two separate beds. When I asked for a room with one big bed, the receptionist told me they had only a smoking room of that layout. A. Smoking. Room. In a EU hotel. In 2017. Aha. However, my wife was in the shower already so we decided not to move further. As I said above, the room had a number of obvious design flaws (although it looked great, I must give them that). The most peculiar and awkward was the working table - with its one leg it's very unstable, so if you accidenally lean on a wrong spot - voila! all your stuff is on the floor, pushed down by the overturned table. The bathroom also showed both signs of design flaws and room-cleaning personnel laziness - the mirror got misted immediately, as there's no exhaust and no heating, there was no plastic bag in the bin, the non-slip cover of the bath-tub showed obvious mould spots and the shower was leaky. Oh yes, speaking of staff - the room-service boy (I asked for a toothbrush and paste) was dressed in a white teeshirt, training pants (were they Adidas? I'm not sure) and flip-flops. He looked like a thug, but was quite friendly (although he didn't speak Engligh), and blished when I offered him a tip. We had to switch the AC during the night, as it produced the noise of a jet engine, and, despite the mosquito warning, open the window. I can't imagine what would happen during the summer, when the outside temperature is really high. So, we certainly passed on the breakfast (who knew what a surprise it could be) and left the hotel not planning a return, ever. I'd rather pay full price for a Novotel or Marriott (if I'm unable to find a nice non-chain villa for €30-35 a night) than stay in this Holiday Inn again. Actually, I'm wondering if IHG management is willing to look at this as a written complaint - although I "paid" only 5000 points for the night, I feel that I hugely overpaid for it. Collapse

We stayed here for four nights for our trip to visit Budapest. I picked it because it was just outside the city with free parking. We got a great deal including breakfast. It's a large busy hotel with a conference centre and it's beside a large Tesco and 15 minutes to the city off peak time. The rooms are nice and a good size. The buffet breakfast was excellent and opens at 6.30AM. The bar opens till 1.00am. The staff were very nice and the hotel is very well maintained. Parking was never a problem as they have a huge lot. If you are renting a car for your visit I would strongly recommend this facility. Collapse
