We were there as a large group for a wedding. We had guests coming from abroad, guests with children. The couple wanted us to stay together in the same hotel so we could have breakfast together in the mornings. We got a discount as we were a large group, but it was still more than the average hotel in the area. To its credit, the beds were comfy, rooms spotless and the staff were polite. However, on our first night, the one before the wedding, there was a very loud function happening downstairs. This would have been fine if we had been warned about it, if the party had gone on until midnight and not until 2am, if the customer relationship manager had been sympathetic at all. My room mate complained the night of the party, so we were kindly given a discount. But my Japanese friends, some with babies who were now tired for the wedding having not slept, had been too shy to ask at first and wanted me to translate for them the next day. They were told that because they had left it, they could only get a smaller discount. I told the man that there are cheaper hotels around but at the price we paid I had expected more from the hotel - the manager suggested we go to the other hotels. His rude attitude, including body language, showed that he was completely uncaring and sadly was not a good example of the British customer service I want to be showing my foreign friends. Dealing with him has made what would be a wonderful weekend otherwise, completely sour and I am embarrassed that my friends from all over the world had to witness his bad attitude. Collapse

Check in: Easy Staff very happy to help. Executive room on the third floor. Bathrobes, slippers, water, wine, hot chocolate and biscuits supplied in a hamper. Room big enough for two of us. Bathroom as you'd expect. I couldnt hear any noise from the corridor at night. Swimming pool visited twice during our stay. The roof tiles in the male changing room in need of a change. Obviously there's been a leak somewhere and they are heavily stained. I'm sure there was a jacuzzi there at one point which would have added to our stay. Breakfast was very good with a mixture of both hot and cold. A very pleasant stay overall and well worth the price. Collapse

My wife and I visited this hotel as a friend of ours was having a charity event there. Unfortunately two other events were taking place at the same time, and guests of the hotel were not prioritised in terms of parking. In the course of driving around I encountered others with a similar problem. A woman told me she was due to attend a wedding reception but given the lack of parking, she was headed home. Eventually my wife got a voucher for a pay and display lot across the street. Sadly, however the voucher ran out at 9 AM the following morning, which meant an earlier start on a Saturday than I would have liked. These difficulties aside, the room itself was clean, the beds were comfortable and the shower had exquisite water pressure. The breakfast was also fine. The staff were friendly and accommodating. If you're coming via public transport: recommended. If you're driving, check what's on with the desk and arrange a voucher accordingly. Collapse

I have stayed here on previous trips to the NW so new what to expect. Rooms are comfortable and I slept well but those awful coat hangars requiring precision engagement do irritate. The main grumble on this occasion was the very bad FREE wifi which the staff acknowledged and said their was a technical fault with their router. For a hotel attracting mainly business customers, this is just not good enough. Breakfast was fine with a reasonable hot buffet but paucity of fresh fruit. Collapse

Superbreak star ratings are given as a guide to help you choose between our hotels and do not necessarily relate to those awarded by other organisations.
They symbolise the level of service and range of facilities that you can expect at the property; ranging from 1 star - hotels with the simplest range of facilities, to five stars - luxury hotels with a wider range of facilities.
Please note that different countries have different standards and star ratings may differ according to the country where the hotel is located.
