The stay at the Holiday Inn was excellent with the accommodation and the food being just what we needed. The Bar snacks were well presented and were very reasonably priced. We used the hotel as a base for our visit to the NEC Gardeners World event and it helped add to an excellent weekend. We would stay again at a Holiday Inn Hotel based on this weekends experience. The breakfast was outstanding with fresh fruit salad and a good selection from the buffet service. Alternative choices cooked to order added to the choices. Collapse

Visited the safari park for the day, the layout of the park is very organised and we got to see and do everything. The actual driving safari took two hours as we visited on a weekend. There are quite a few food stalls around the park however make sure you have cash as they only take card for purchases over ?5 and the cash machine at the park charged you for withdrawing money. Stayed at the Holiday Inn in Bromsgrove, it was a really lovely hotel. The room was big and clean. If you did not want to eat in the hotel restaurant then there were plenty of country pubs around. Understand what other reviews are saying regards Hotel looking tired@used But when you are paying a lot less than most HInns charge for a night only fair to take into account price/quality comparison...as a refurb is due won't dwell on room condition housekeeping issues as sure management are aware but what does need to be praised are the staff and 1 in particular.HAYDEN ...he arrived to sort a problem with the Bar and then through his friendly humorous infectious personality liaising with customers made a Saturday evening come alive..His knowledge of the local safari park has to be a great asset to a hotel used frequently before a visit and he was able to answer and reassure all..The Monkey story will live long in my memory (classic humour).on checkout when we were feeling effects of a late night Hayden was on reception to again deliver customer service levels that exceed expectation..as I said previously the Hotel may have issues but due to service we received then a return visit is a must... Just back from a 3 night, 4 day stay. We had to be in Redditch for family reasons, and picked the HI as the spa facilities would be a treat during a stressful time, Holiday Inns are generally a safe bet and it was where we needed to be. First the good : Most of the staff are very good. Very pleasant, amiable and willing to to that 'extra mile' to help when you had any queries etc. Reception is a little slow on checking in and out, however all the staff were very courteous and pleasant. The hotel itself is fine, nice decor in the Lounge area and 'The Cow' Restaurant as is Reception. The Restaurant Manager, a very personable young women, in particular, was superb. I'm sorry I can't remember her name as she really made our visit very pleasant. The food was really good in 'The Cow' as well as the lounge bar. Thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate. Brekkie was good, plenty of choice, but so it should be at £15 a pop! Breakfast staff were always very attentive and helpful. The bedroom was superb. A standard twin, plenty of room, with a good sized bathroom. Loads of good, fluffy white towels and the beds were superb. Very, very comfortable and the pillows were great. You can choose from foam, feather or a combo of both. Air con was great, easy to use and the room was an ambient temperature all night. We both slept very well. So, the bad : The wifi is ok, but we got ours free as I Signed up on the HI app so not sure if it;s free to non HI members. And I had to re-register every 24 hours. Annoying and antiquated. The Spa - we were very disappointed. When we booked via the HI website, no mention of the following : Men's showers were not working. OK you can say you can get dry and go shower in your room. But never have we experienced this before, and after a swim, a jacuzzi (both good), it's nice to shower straight away surely. They are being updated in June, and no where was this mentioned on the website. We asked for towels. These were left poolside by the very amiable young chap, however, he then gave ours away to a lady who asked for a towel. Annoying. The Ladies changing room left a to to be desired. No bags for your cossie for starters. No lockable lockers. Again annoying and apparently, they are being updated in June too. Again, no mention on the HI website. The 2 showers in the Ladies changing room were bog basic. I showered in 1 that had 1 bottle of suspiciously watered down looking shower gel. Nothing else. And the shower control came away in my hand. I managed to screw it back on though!!! The other shower had no shower gel, and a different shower head which looked a tadge green around the edges. No Sauna either. Again, this was out of order and not being fixed till - June! The entire Spa could do with a good clean and an update. Maybe this might happen in June ??!?!? The TV system As part of our package, we had movies included However, on our arrival on the Monday, we could not get anything apart from BBC, ITV & Channel 4. Too tired to enquire, we asked the next day on reception. 'Oh, you do this on the remote, should fix it'. No it didn't. We called reception 4 times at approx 9pm. No answer. It rang until the phone cut itself off. Called room service twice, again not answer. We just wanted to flop in front of the TV after dinner with movie and relax after yet another stressful day. On the Wednesday we again reported this to reception. Fair play, a Maintenance chappie went to the room within 10 minutes. I bumped into him coming out of the room and then we spoke to him in the Lounge area. He then proceeded to tell us that the Movies, Sky TV etc etc was not working and the system was being updated in - we guessed it - June. Why oh why were we not told this. Why no info in the rooms? All very odd. We asked 'do you have a skeleton staff here'. He looked surprised, and when we told him what we'd not been told he did was very apologetic, but as we said. 'it's not your fault'. The Re-cap Not telling us the Spa wasn't fully up and running and the upgrade was in June Ditto TV System Not leaving any info in the rooms regarding the TV controls, the air con - the lack of information was very frustrating. It is not the staff's fault, indeed if it wasn't for the staff, I"d have rated this hotel poor. One or two seemed pretty indifferent towards us, especially, 1 young lady on the lounge bar, who totally ignored us for over 15 minutes whilst she 'totted up the accounts',so 'give me 5 mins' but then didn't tell us when she was finished, and I had to go up to the bar once more and ask for a drink. The other time was a chap who was chatting across the bar, and did not acknowledge us, only to mention to the guest he was chatting to, that his shift was finished, As in, 'I can see you but I aint serving you'. Why stand behind the bar then, looking like you are till on duty. Weird. This is not the standard we expected from a Holiday Inn, especially when our room rates vary daily from £95 to £155 a night albeit to include dinner on 2 nights. Basically, we left under the impression that the showers, the lockers, the TV system, indeed the entire hotel, is being refurbed in JUNE but they are accepting bookings and whinging it with guests. I will be interested to see what happens in JUNE. Alas, I can't recommend and am surprised at the number of 4+ reviews this hotel has. Collapse

Booked an executive room for more space and a few frills. TV did not work properly and was told would be a month away before it was replaced. Not what you expect from such a brand. Bathroom not adequate for putting out my toiletries and slightly old bathroom. No bathrobes as specified on the web site. A Minibar to use which was only bottles of water, not as advertised. One small bar of chocolate which is all it says on the web site. bedroom smaller than I experience for a normal executive room. Food was the best part of the stay. Cannot see that I will be staying here again. Collapse

The photographs uploaded showcase just some of the poor unclean conditions. After paying £80 to stay here you do not expect to room move from a filthy room with furnishings falling apart to another dirty room! Bathroom had been used , towels were dirty and wet. Hairs and dust everywhere all over skirting boards, mini fridge was disgusting with spillages and stains everywhere as you can see. Windows in poor condition with locks falling off. Overall very poor, very tired and in major need of refurbishment works. Staff were friendly and deducted some beverage and food items off my bill as a good will gesture which was appreciated but this hotel is a poor reflection of a good brand I once liked. Only plus point was food which was had before I entered my room. Would I return back to this establishment in the current state? Absolutely not. Collapse

I stayed here 5 nights in.order to send my son into boarding school nearby. It is horrible. I booked hotels.com, all paid for, 2 twinbed rooms. Upon arrival, I was told to pay for full amount. I insisted I have paid in total n they said not showing in their system. When I presented my confirmation printout, they claimed for the price I paid im not entitled to twin beds. Xxxx. Then i said i need to speak to manager n he claimed this hotel does not have twin bed rooms. Ok. In both rooms the air con did not work. Asked to change room, u know the answer. I was offered a wobbly fan. On the 3rd day, can't remember day correctly, I noticed the folded fresh towel on bed a bit moist. Didn't bother n used it. Then the next day, as I opened the wrap to get the shower cap, I realised the cap was wet n used. This is my worst experience in a UK hotel. If there is a better choice, choose something else. Sorry, I need to be honest. ppl need the truth Collapse
