This was the first time I travelled alone and I cannot fault the hotel. This was the perfect place to come alone as it felt secure and friendly. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was clean and tidy, cleaned daily. My room didn't have a balcony but it overlooked the sea and was just as good. I didn't eat too much at hotel but when I did was nice and large variety. The only thing let my holiday down was the weather... But obviously this is not the hotels fault! Pool was heated. The average age of visitors was older and I don't think I saw a family there when I was, so great if you want a quiet trip away. I chose the hotel because of the beach location, it was perfect, beautiful beach front. I would like to visit again. Collapse
Wonderful love cation, but the rest is hit and miss.

I booked this solely for the beach front location, and it didn't disappoint its amazing right on the beach, and the beach is just beautiful. Sadly, that's where the excellence ends I'm afraid. I prebooked on booking.com and emailed the hotel directly (and got a reply) a beach front room and I requested a king size bed not overlooking the pool. We arrived late and the room had 2 single beds and was right over the pool, directly in the middle, but when I went back to request the king size bed...... you would have thought I was at fault! I got a simple 'nothing we can do' which I wasn't impressed with. So after showing my displeasure I was then downgraded from a beach front room to a third floor room. But having got back and just checked the bill (my fault I should of checked while I was there) they have charged me the full price for the beach front room which sums the service up. The place was clean but the service is poor. The footer on the bed spent the three days in a heap in the corner where I threw it in the middle of the night I arrived, sweet wrappers under the bed. I left an empty water bottle on the side and it stayed there for two days until I binned it, just little things you get in great hotels that made it a very average stay. To cap it all off the lift broke down about four times in the three days I was there. I loved Armacao and the location, but for a Holiday Inn it's poor and I won't return. Collapse

Have been staying in The Holiday Inn and before that The Garbe Hotel for many years.Hotel well decorated with stunning views. I'm sorry and surprised to have to say that generally the service in the bar was poor. On our last day the elevator was out of order for maintainance yet we were not advised of this or offered portering service to get suitcases down several flights of stairs. Given the age profile of guests at this time I would have thought this small service should have been made available. Collapse

When we arrived we were upgraded to a corner sea view room and wereable to check in early too. If you can get a sea view room do. We opted not to eat on site, having found the local Fortaleza cafe near Pedro. I hsve eaten in holiday inn restaurants for breakfast and whilst it's true that the food is filling, we found the english breakfast at the cafe delicious at 7 euros. We understand from other reviews if you are a IHG member you can get a slight discount on breakfast. We did however choose to have drinks in the bar on a couple of nights. The view you get is great. We didnt get to try the pool as it wasnt warm enough though we understand this should be heated between Nov and March. Be aware that if you are staying at the weekend, the bus service is fickle. One day we ended up taking taxis. The stop is a few mins walk and the staff will give you a map which we found useful. Regarding the room, work needs to be done in the bathroom and the door lock really should be changed in our opinion. Holiday inns tend to opted for the big shower gel/shampoo. However they also provided one set of small shower hel/shampoo etc. We heard from 2 people who had stayed there that this was replenished daily. This was not the case for us, even when we asked and told it would be provided it wasn't. They provided complimemtary bottles of water which was nice. We did ask if this was topped up but the member of staff we spoke to seemed to imply that this might be given at the beginning only. We did notice that 2 bottles of sparkling water had a use by date of Feb 2017. This should have been removed/replaced by housekeeping. We just had the still water. Despite some small issues we had a relaxing time and would be happy to recommend. Collapse
