You can see the universal sign from the hotel, it's about 15 minute walk to get actually into the park but the hotel offer a free bus which is great for the evening to go for drinks. The hotel also offer a free bus to sea world but you have to get the bus to universal first then sea world or you can get the I ride bus which is $2 each way per person. You can pay weekly for the bus which takes you to international drive as well which is great the stop is right outside the hotel. The hotel doesn't have its own bar but is attached to tgi Fridays if you want food or drink they offer room service. Which tbh wasn't great but no direct reflection of the hotel. The hotel was in a good location kirkman road has a number of pubs and shops which are a 10 minute walk away. Our room was cleaned daily, to high standard. We were given a room with 2 double beds (for just 2 of us) which was standard I assume. Fully air conditioned (although the machine was quite loud), free wifi, coffee machine, microwave, fridge and tv. Shower and bath with shampoo, soup etc provided daily. As well as towels and fresh bedding. Great service and lovely staff would definitely stay again Collapse

The hotel location was great and the staff was super friendly and helpful, but otherwise I have nothing good to say about this hotel. Our room smelled strongly of mildew and my boyfriend and I had sinus issues the entire stay because of it. The water pressure in the shower is awful. The fridge and AC unit in the room are extremely loud and would wake me up in the middle of the night. The walls are paper thin!! I could hear every person walking down the halls and whenever someone would enter or leave their room the doors slam shut. The walls are so thin I could hear other guests using the bathroom!! There is also construction going on next door and there was no previous warning about it prior to booking, this also would wake us up very early in the morning. If you can look past all the other issues I suggest waiting until construction is complete!! The hotel has an attached TGI Fridays which had good food and service but this means that there is no hotel provided breakfast like every other Holiday Inn has. The shuttle service to Universal Studios wasn't that great either. They do not run continuous so you are forced to get a ticket from the service desk for a set time, which while on vacation I wanted to relax and not be rushed to make it to the bus stop at certain times. Disney hotels have continuous running buses so you can get on at anytime. The bus is at least a very short ride to the park, make sure to get your bus ticket as soon as possible as they run out quickly!! Overall the trip in the theme park was great and being a short ride away was nice, but I would not stay at this hotel the next time I visit Universal! Luckily we were only at the hotel for 4 nights and most of the time was spent outside of the room and at the park Collapse

Stayed here for 2 weeks and was a bit worried after reading some of the negative reviews before we left however our stay was great and everyone we encountered was very friendly and helpful, The best bit of the hotel is it's location for Universal, a 15 min walk and a side entrance through valet parking which cuts out the search queues. TGI is next to the hotel and we used on the night we arrived and it was fine so no complaints, every other night used the many restaurants at city walk with Bubba Gumps and the NBC bar and grill being the favourites, The chocolate emporium for a dessert is a must!! We were welcomed on a few occasions when returning to the hotel and all staff were great and Darrion who checked us in was great on reception. The rooms are a little dated I guess but the value is there and cleaning was to a good standard and air con in room was great. In terms of travelling without a car there is an I Ride stop (G4) right outside hotel and this will get you to international drive or direct to seaworld which was handy and used lynx buses too to get to Millenia and Florida mall and this was nice and easy too. There is a walgreens 5 mins away if you walk across double tree car park and there are a few restaurants there too but just used walgreens to stock up on drinks for fridge in room. Would easily recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to be close to universal and would use myself again. Collapse

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights recently. Hotel needs a few upgrades BUT it is still a nice hotel. I was upgraded to a suite just because I am a Holiday Inn loyalty member. BTW if you travel a lot like I do I would become a loyalty member of every hotel. You receive nice perks. For just myself I had a two bedroom two bath hotel room... which was nice but a bit much HA! The staff was very helpful and very nice. The hotel is right across the street from Universal Studios and you can actually walk from the hotel... if you want. If not the hotel offers a free shuttle service over to the park. Also, a TGI Fridays is attached to the hotel which is very convenient! The only reason I am giving this 4/5 stars is because the rooms do need to be upgraded but that would also drive up the cost of your room. I highly recommend this hotel! Collapse

We stayed here based on the close location to Universal and the shuttle option. After checking in, we had no issues with finding our room and the staff was very friendly. However, the water pressure in the shower was pretty terrible. It took a very long time for the long hair ladies in our group to wash our hair. We also had trouble multiple days with housekeeping skipping our room. We had to call a few days to have them come later at night once we returned, and were told there was a mixup and they thought we were checking out. Once maybe, but multiple days seemed odd. They were quick to send people once we did call, so points for that. There is a connected TGI Fridays restaurant which had a breakfast buffet. We tried it one day, and it was ok. As for the shuttle, we planned to take it to Universal but it only runs once an hour and the first available time was 11am. We didn't want to miss hours of park time so we just walked. It's not a bad walk, so we didn't mind it but be aware of the time constraints if you plan to take it. You also need a ticket from the booth in the lobby ahead of time. Overall, it was a good value and the perfect location for Universal. We didn't come to Orlando to stay at the hotel all day, so it worked for our needs. Collapse
