We stayed at the hotel as we were attending a party for extended family and there was no room for us to stay with the family. We used the leisure club and took breakfast but used no other hotel facilities. The staff were all obviously well trained - everyone was extremely polite and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. Because of this I would recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates good service. Collapse

We just needed a weekend away and wanted somewhere close. The ramada fitted the bill and we were very pleased with it. The rooms were a nice size, the facilities were great and the attitude of the staff were excellent. While my wife had a lie in and relaxed in the leisure facilities (jacuzzi and pool), i went to see Farnham Castle and after a frustrating time trying to find it, finally arrived at a really interesting and quite well kept castle. Would we visit there again; yes i think we would although we want to see more of this lovely country. Collapse

We booked the hotel for two of us using a groupon deal. It was fantastic value for money. We enjoyed a cream tea in the afternoon which was freshly baked and lovely. We then used the leisure facilities. I had a run in the gym and then relaxed by the pool. We used the sauna and steam room and jacuzzi which were all great. Our room was really nicely decorated, clean and the bathroom immaculate. It was very comfortable and had tea and coffee as well as snacks/wine you could purchase if you required. In the evening we had dinner in the restaurant and though quiet the food more than made up for it. It was absolutely delicious and such good value through the deal. I would have certainly paid full price for it. I had Cajun white bait followed by a perfectly cooked steak. The staff were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. We retired to the bar and had a couple more drinks before bed. In the morning we had a lovely breakfast which was a buffet with an extensive range of both hot and cold choices. Overall a lovely stay for the two of us which we thoroughly enjoyed, the staff were all incredibly friendly and attentive. I would really recommend the hotel. Collapse

Not a good hotel. In fact, a bad hotel. Despite a corporate booking they hadn't sorted out our reservations for rooms and conferencing facilities. The conference room was either sub tropical or freezing with no intermediate temperature settings. The lights flickered on and off all day. There was only a coffee machine -we had to ask for milk and tea bags. No conference staff so had to traipse to reception each time we needed something. Very few sockets in room and none near table so most couldn't plug in laptops. Lunch was ok ish - sandwiches and chips with some fruit. Rooms were eventually allocated on the second floor. There is no lift so a real problem for people who don't need a wheelchair friendly room but who have some degree of mobility/lifting restrictions. No offer of assistance with luggage. One staff member tried to convince us the lack of lift was due to listed building status - codswallop, of course. The interiors were reminiscent of the 1970s with lowered tiled ceilings and lots of purple. Certainly not listed! Maintenance generally was poor with frayed carpets and flickering lights. The restaurant struggled to cope with 12 people. On the second evening we had to eat early and pre choose our food because "the restaurant was very busy" - it wasn't, it was virtually empty. I felt sorry for the two couples who had booked a Valentines meal. A less romantic venue is hard to imagine. The executive room we were 'upgraded' to was clean enough. The bed was a reasonably comfortable double (not King). That was the positives. There are floodlights in the car park at the front that are level with bedrooms so bright glaring light floods underneath and around the curtains. The double glazing reduced the road noise from the A31 but it was still very noticeable. Not as noticeable as the noise from above and around though. Noise insulation is poor. People staying in 'the room at the top' were argueing loudly until the early hours. It was impossible not to listen to their alcohol fuelled shouting. Shower was OK. TV was OK. Collapse

I recently visited this hotel with my family for a spa day and afternoon tea. Pool area was ok - slightly dated and swimming pool was not exactly large. We were told on arrival that the steam room was out of order, although the spa day had only been booked 3 days prior so unless it had malfunctioned in that time I should have been made aware at time of booking. Sauna area was quite nice but again very small and only seats about 5/6 people at a time. Changing rooms and shower area were clean and spacious. We were given robes and towels at reception but no slippers, which meant that unless you bring your own with you you would have to walk from the changing rooms through to the reception and into the treatment area barefoot. The treatments were the best part of the day. The treatment room was lovely with relaxing music and lighting, candles and the products used were great. After our spa visit we were booked in for afternoon tea. We did wait a while in the restaurant area before anybody spoke to us. Someone eventually appeared with a glass of prosecco each which was included in our package. The area itself was nice however the experience was ruined by the majority of the empty tables around us which still had dirty plates etc which no one has cleared up, they sat there for a minimum of 90 minutes which was the amount of time we spent there. We ordered a hot drink each which had to come from the main hotel area into the spa so those took a while which was fine, it just felt like even though it wasn't exactly busy in the restaurant we were slightly neglected. We asked for a pot of Earl Grey tea, the person in the kitchen then had to hunt for this flavour of teabag - we kind of just assumed that various herbal teas would be available to us. The overall experience was ok for the price we paid however I will not be visiting this establishment again as there are far nicer hotels/spas in the area which I would happily pay a bit more money to visit to enjoy a better experience. We booked this hotel via a groupon deal for an early valentines. Great value for money £99 for room, cream tea, breakfast and 2 course dinner plus spa. Once inside the hotel it's lovely particularly the new conservatory where we had the cream tea great selection and plenty of cake and sandwiches we were served by Shelby who was excellent. We spent the afternoon poolside which was really relaxing but was a shame the steam room was out of order otherwise we couldn't fault it. Dinner was great quality and came quickly, only downside was the lack of atmosphere and tired decor but our server was lovely. We slept well in the new spacious room. Breakfast was brilliant great selection of hot and cold and lots of tea choices. All in all a great stay Collapse

I stayed in this hotel last January for 2 days as I was taking some exams nearby. Not the cheapest choice but then I made that decision as the hotel and the room was nice enough and there was a pool. Staff helpful, especially with helping with the luggage to the room as there is no lift, so that was much appreciated, thank you. Breakfast was ok and dinner ok, although there was a big difference in service and quality between the Friday and Saturday evening when I had ordered exactly the same dish, Tuna Salad Nicoise. Perfect on the Friday night and not so good on the Saturday. Dry overcooked tuna and half the size, no homemade tartar sauce like the night before but when I asked for it, i got sachets. And I had to chase my order as it was taking a while... However, the big issue and the main reason why I did not go back in February is the fact I had asked for a quiet room in January as I needed my rest and sleep before the exam and as I went to bed that night, I could not sleep as there was a big birthday party going on right under my room till at least midnight. I phoned reception but they could not do anything much as it was a private party. They suggested about maybe moving room - at midnight really ?- but I was in my PJs ready for bed and had already unpacked everything out of my case ! Most disappointing when I specifically asked for a quiet room - It would make sense not to give that room then if it is above the function room or bar ? What a pity. As a result, rather than going back there a week ago when I had another exam in the area, I chose to stay in another nearby hotel. Collapse
