Just back from spending a week in this hotel for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. Location is perfect, hotel is beautiful and really clean, staff are all extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food is top class, different selection every night and all very nice. There is only one thing I would want to make people aware of, something I wish I had known in advance. It's a Spa Hotel, which is why I booked it, but the Spa area where the Sauna and Steam Rooms are, the heated beds and tropical/cold showers, people go NAKED. My husband and myself were absolutely shocked to have walked in on that, something you might expect in an Adults only Spa area ( and previously advertised ), not something that should be thrown upon you by surprise, especially not in a 5star hotel and with signs up saying it's not allowed. We complained and the staff listened nicely, said they would contact the management and see if they can put up more signs, but one staff member told my husband that's just what some people do. Well those people ruined my experience in that Spa and I will never again go to a Spa abroad, as I find that a great disrespect to fellow humans and truly distasteful. Staff also assured us it's not something that happens usually but I have since read reviews from years ago which mentioned the same problem. Shame that happened as everything else was perfect. Even when our transfer back to Airport with Jet2 Holidays never appeared they acted quickly and organised a taxi. Only other shame was they never told the taxi driver that Jet2 would pay the bill which added another stress at the airport, as taxi driver was quite rude and argued. Maybe just remember to spell everything out in the smallest details to whomever is dealing with you. Apart from these 2 negatives, we loved our stay at Hipocampo Palace and it was definitely an amazing place to consider bringing our family back to....just never anywhere near the Spa! Collapse

I had not been Majorca for many years so decided to have a short out of season break and chose this hotel for its facilities, spa, indoor pool etc. These were very well kept and indeed everywhere is kept spotlessly clean. The room housekeeping is excellent, nice bath with shower over, separate toilet area plus bidet. Bed was firm but then that's the way I like it. Balcony plus sun loungers. Minibar with all items charged, I guess I have been spoiled recently at UK hotels with free mineral water. Buffet breakfast was possibly the best yet encountered with exceptional choice, you can either have coffee delivered to the table (to avoid the dreaded self serve machines) or use one of the machines scattered around the restaurant. Lots of different fruit juices, indeed lots of different everything, but did not find an orange juice squeezer to give fresh orange juice, which would have been nice given the quantity of oranges growing throughout the island...the number of different counters and stations may have meant I could just have missed it. Breakfast is served from 0800 and as we had to leave at 0745 on our last day they provided a good "mini buffet" much more than just a couple of cheese rolls so yet another plus point. We like to go "bed and breakfast" and sample local cafes and restaurants but I had not realised just how seasonal Majorca is with just a very few restaurants in the various resorts open in the Winter months. As we arrived fairly late on the first day we did sample the hotel dinner which is again buffet with most extensive choice but I did think it was a tad expensive at 32 euros pp. exclusive of drinks. I expect it is cheaper in a half board package if you eat there every night. Pleasant bar area, quite large, with a singer every two nights or so. Wide choice of drinks and cocktails. Last but not least all the staff are smiley and friendly, all you meet at reception and in the restaurant, and also those you encounter in the corridors will smile and say hello or good morning...in Spanish of course. Sometimes in large hotels you do not find this so that contributes to the excellent rating I have awarded here. We visited end February and no trips are available, few restaurants open, but we were able to get around quite easily using the local bus services at quite reasonable prices including Palma, Caves of Drach, Portochristo, Soller, Deia, and Arta which is well worth a visit. It was very pleasant to be without the Summer crowds at this excellent hotel! Collapse

Great experience staying in this hotel. We stayed in a suite on the second floor overlooking the pool area. The decor is a little old fashioned, but still feels fresh and the rooms were very clean. The staff was fabulous. The food is first class with an abundance of choice. We tried a few local restaurants but the food at the hotel was much better! The pool is large and sparkling clean and there is expansive grassed areas around the pool - plenty of space. We really enjoyed staying at the hotel, but we will never travel to Majorca again. This is pretty rude, but we found the resort area and resort beaches around Cala Millor really tacky and run down. It might have been good in the 70s and 80s but not now. We were also a bit overwhelmed by the number of German tourists (80% Germans). Collapse

This is a late review as we had a family holiday here last July . There is nothing I can fault with this hotel and from start to finish we felt relaxed and comfortable. We have stayed in several 4 star highly rated holiday hotels including another hipotels hotel but in my opinion the difference at this hotel is the attention to detail : The hotel is immaculate , from the corridors , bedrooms , shared facilities and the grounds there is not a thing out of place.every morning you could see the staff cleaning the grass area around the pool and taking pride in their job. The gardens and flowers are beautiful and the gardeners deserve high praise . The food is excellent and breakfast a highlight. Senior management were highly visible . The staff were professional but always looked happy . The pool was fantastic and there were always loungers available. The tennis courts were excellent but quite expensive to use and you need to book with the Tennis coach . There are a couple of things that in my opinion could make the hotel even better : The evening meal is all buffet and as a result ,depending on where you sit it does make it difficult to totally relax. Perhaps the hotel could consider having the main course served by waiters as it makes it more special. They do serve drinks to the table which is good. The shower is over the bath and a walk in shower would be better. Having to pay extra for tea or a coffee machine in the bedroom is unusual in this standard of hotel. We loved our stay at the hotel but probably will not return as the resort is too touristy but if you want to make the hotel the destination we would return happily. Collapse
