My partner and I have just returned home from a wonderful 10 day stay at this lovely hotel. The staff have to mentioned, you are made to feel most welcome from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. Beatrix on reception was wonderfully welcoming and the glass of prosecco was most welcomed. The staff in the restaurant work so hard, running around, clearing plates, getting drinks - absolutely amazing pace they work at. Must mention Silvana who was lovely with always a cheeky smile. We stayed half board and the food was lovely, such a wide variety to choose from both for breakfast and for evening meal that I can't possibly mention everything but if you're eating here it's worth taking a walk along the serving areas first before deciding what you want to eat as you may miss something! In the evenings show cooking but also loads of ready prepared foods - candied duck was amazing! Salads - choice of several prepared salads plus make your own with plenty of dressings to chose from. Desserts were lovely. We ate at the pool bar 4 times, the food there was superb as well, presented lovely and very tasty. The housekeeping was excellent. Our room was kept immaculate by the ladies who do the cleaning. The room was lovely, plenty of wardrobe space. Twin wash basins in the bathroom. Comfortable beds. Lovely. We stayed in the main part of the hotel in a room overlooking the road and across to the pool area. It was lovely, the road is not noisy. In other reviews people mentioned the entertainment being noisy but we never had a problem. Yes, you could hear the entertainment but only just and it was not enough to stop us from going sleep. By the pool - plenty of sunbeds. You are advised at reception that they do not allow reserving of the sunbeds and there is no need to whatsoever. On the day we arrived we went to the pool about 1pm, there were plenty of beds and we had a choice. Also the other days we went to the pool there were always beds available during the day at any time. Congratulations to the hotel for stopping the reserving of the beds, it works brilliantly - I wish other hotels would take up your stance. Overall, a wonderful hotel with wonderful staff. Well worth staying here. 20 out of 10. Collapse

Adding to all the other very positive reviews on here, my visit in August was just as wonderful. I would like to thank all the kind and friendly staff for making our 10 night stay so successful. It truly was a 5* hotel with staff to match. I am going to focus my review on the quality of food and drink and the waiting staff in the restaurant. By no means does this mean that I wasn't impressed with the large swimming pool, ample of sun loungers, quality of the evening entertainment - including Carlos, who led this as well as many of the day activities (also we had an exceptionally clean, quiet and comfortable room with fresh flowers). However as someone with coeliac disease taking a risk and booking half board in a hotel I have not been to previously, I was absolutely delighted. The quality and quantity of the choice of food at the buffet dinner on the first night was at first overwhelming. I then spoke to the maitre d who couldn't be more helpful and also understood about gluten free. She gave me an A4 folder which contained a comprehensive list of all the dishes and which allergens they contained. It was very clear and easy to understand. For the next 10 days I used this at breakfast and dinner and each meal time was a complete success! I also got to enjoy a wider range of food than normal including Mexican and Chinese food. On their special gala dinner evening they had arranged for me to have special gluten free appetisers which was a lovely surprise. The Head Chef and other staff were aware of my condition and were always very helpful and accommodating. I was able to ask for GF bread at either breakfast or dinner and this was individually wrapped and warm when served to me. There was also the option of GF mini croissants in the morning too. Along with all the free Cava that the restaurant serves at breakfast time - it was always a pleasure to be in their dining room. One of my worries about choosing a 5* hotel was that the drinks would then be very expensive. However I was pleasantly surprised as both soft and alcoholic drinks were reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning in the future. Collapse

After my wife had had a stressful few months I decided to take us to our favourite hotel for a week, check in was as good as it usually is and we got upgraded to a suite which was fantastic. The staff ( all of them ) from the cleaners to senior staff are so friendly, thoughtful and want you to have an amazing experience at their hotel, and we did, I always tip our cleaner as they do an excellent job in your room. The food was absolutely fantastic from breakfast to evening meal with so much choice, they have five meat ant five fish choices at the chef station, so you chose what you want and the chef cooks it for you to yous liking ( I recommend the john dory ) and I'm not a massive fish lover but it was really good I had it three times, but then there are many other prepared food options to choose from. The gardens and sunbathing areas are beautifully maintained and each day a member of staff came round with fruit sticks with strawberries, grapes and pineapple on them which I thought was a nice touch by the hotel. Our holiday was perfect from start to finish, so I have already booked for 11 nights over the Easter period for next year and am already looking forward to returning. Collapse

As you can tell from previous reviews the Hipocampo palace does all the basics superbly. Wonderfully comfortable rooms, amazing breakfasts with a seemingly endless choice, quiet location and a pool and garden area that was almost perfect with no difficulty finding a lounger at any time of day. Location wise it is slightly out of the centre of the resort, one block back from the sea, but within two minutes of a couple of mini markets, shops, chemist and a cash point. However for me, what marks this hotel out is two things. Firstly, I have never stayed anywhere where all the staff are so friendly from the senior management, the reception staff, the cleaning ladies all the way down to the lowest ranked junior waiters. For the whole week they all smiled and wish you good day whenever you meet them and were very helpful when asking questions about things to do or places to see. Secondly, the mark of a good hotel is what happens when things go wrong. Arriving on our first night at just gone midnight, it took us over 45 minutes to check in as the electronic keys to our room didn't work. With no technical staff available at that time of night, the chap on duty did his best to fix the issue and when this proved impossible for one of the rooms, upgraded my friend to a suite in the adjacent building with a promise that it would all be sorted first thing in the morning. Good as their word, by 10am our rooms were sorted but rather than move my friend back to her orignal room they upgraded her for her whole two week stay to the suite they had temporarily assigned her. As an unexpected bonus they even upgraded me to an adjacent suite at no extra cost. As if that was not enough, the following morning it appeared that all the reception team and even the dining room staff had been advised of the problems we had had the previous night and went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect. As my new suite was being cleaned they even sent up an apology note and a plateful of fresh fruit for each of us. I realy cannot praise the team in this hotel too highly and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a 5 star hotel in a quiet location. Collapse
