Although it was cold outside the hotel was warm and inviting with great staff service. Although it is a little further out of town than I thought, the subway station is only a five minute walk which has great links to all the attractions.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days in the Hilton Danube. Excellent location with easy access to the city centre by underground. Staff invariably efficient and pleasant. Room was first class junior suite which was well serviced ..Could have used more wardrobe/drawer space. All in all it was a pleasure especially the Executive lounge which served first class food and drinks. Collapse

Upon arrival we were not greeted by the Receptionist in fact she failed to make eye contact, we were early but she didn't even check to see if one of our two rooms were ready. She told us to go and leave our bags without giving any indication of where or with whom. Luckily a lovely asian gentleman leaped into action and assisted us - he asked us if our rooms were ready and wasn't even remotely interested to be told she hadn't checked. We went back to reception and one of our rooms were ready so went to the room. I had previously sent three emails asking for a river view - it was after all the whole point of booking this hotel - without that we could have stayed in the centre of the city, none of my emails were answered and no river view was provided. I queried this with another receptionist after we got back from our jaunt into the city centre whilst checking our second room was ready. This room wasn't ready and they didn't know exactly when it would be but possibly within half an hour, and exchange between two receptionists resulted in the offer of a free drink in the bar - we refused. By the time we got to our room I was furious and rang the hotel services number. Luckily for us I spoke to Jesse who was brilliant she apologised for her colleagues attitude, for our disappointment and for the fact that I was pee'd off and offered us river view rooms which were fabulous - large rooms with beautiful views - this absolutely made our stay here wonderful. The breakfast was excellent every day and had the facility to make your own hot waffles - lovely but a bit of a queue. We didn't use any of the other facilities in the hotel but for us the view was what we wanted and got thanks to Jesse. I would suggest that you replace the two snotty receptionists with the most helpful asian baggage carer as he was very very polite and attentive and the receptionists could do with being brought down a peg or ten! The only other downside to this hotel were the conference guests and the top floor guests - I've never come across so many rude and ill mannered people in one place - they pushed in, interrupted conversations and were generally awful however that is not the hotels fault and may explain why the receptionists left a lot to be desired. Bottom line if you want a river view get that confirmed before you arrive otherwise stay in the city as this hotel doesn't offer anything else to make you want to stay there in particular. Well done Jesse and thank you for making our first trip to Vienna memorable. Now for the practical side - the "tube" is five minutes away and 2.2 euros for a single trip each person although everything in the city is walkable once there if like us you want to do the Christmas markets. There is nothing near to the hotel open on a Sunday. The Penny Mart is a supermarket that is incredibly cheap and two minutes from the hotel so save your money on drinks a by a bottle of Korn - its like vodka but only 5 euros a bottle! The stadium shopping centre is 10 mins walk and very good for general mall shops and another supermarket but again closed on Sundays. Collapse

This hotel was in a great location with views over the Danube, but just a 5 minute walk to the Underground. Rooms were spacious, modern and very comfortable, cleaned every day and spotless. Staff were very courteous and helpful and the food was lovely. Breakfast was especially nice-really enjoyed making waffles! Drinks at the bar were a bit pricey - €13 for a gin and tonic, but otherwise very happy with this hotel. Location was perfect, public transport system so easy to use and get about to see the sights. There is also a small shopping centre beside the Underground and a small supermarket across the road. Excellent visit and would definitely go back. Collapse
