As a long time Hilton diamond member I have experienced a lot of Hilton's around the world. The Sydney Hilton is a curious paradox. Great CBD location, professional concierge, efficient front desk and friendly executive lounge staff - but it just doesn't deliver in other areas. Having stayed many times, I am no longer surprised at the wold's smallest Hilton rooms, but I was amazed this visit to see the threadbare, torn and sat out upholstery in the bench seating along the window of the Glass Brasserie. I was also disappointed to observe the pre-poached eggs slowly turning to golf balls in the buffet bain-marie. When asked for one to be freshly poached soft, I was not expecting to be interrogated "what was wrong with those in the bain-marie"? And at $42 for the breakfast buffet, wouldn't one think a decent coffee should be included in the price? And when it arrived, it was poor, clearly using a big brand bean supplier and a far cry from the cafe experience Australia's becoming world-renowned for. If you want to stay loyal to the brand there is not much choice in Sydney, but at $400 odd per night, it's sad to be disappointed over things that could be easily overcome with a focus on quality rather than profit, and attention from the owners on keeping ahead with detail that would otherwise bring it up to five star international hilton standards. I stayed at the Hilton while attending a conference at the hotel. My room (2513) was on the 25th floor with a great view over the city. The room was ample sized with a nice desk where I could work. The shower in the bathroom has to be one of the best I've used, with a massive rose in the ceiling and a TV to catch up on recent news. Collapse

Sterile, deficient of character, sincerity, poor menu, and small. I felt uncomfortable and did not relax for the entire night I was there and this is probably because I was too scared to use the refrigerator or touch any of the sensor activated areas of the room, to avoid being slugged for the mini bar. Well I in the end was charged $14 no idea what I took from the mini bar but apparently I did take something, no fraudulent charge I have never and will never use a mini bar because I'm not lazy and will go for a walk to get something if need be. A cleaner entered my room after I left so humn and that happens???? Room was clean and that is the only good point. Diamond HHonors got me a piece of paper and late checkout ( no that was available with the room I paid for ) it got me a piece of paper and frankly Monday I'm cancelling my Macquarie HHonors card as I WILL not be using Hilton again in Australia after this episode!!! NEVER HAVE I BEEN SO ANGRY AND FEELING SO DUPED BY A HOTEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! My suggestion is to avoid the Hilton Sydney there are plenty of decent hotels in the same area or go to the Shangri La nicer feel, quality offer, better room service menu and great views. I left hungry (couldn't get my breakfast that every hotel has bar this one), with a fraudulent charge on my car and a very sour taste. $263 is about $150 too much, you are only paying for proximity. I'll be emailing the diamond person to convey my absolute dissatisfaction. Terrible and Hilton overseas can be really very good and would not have done this. Collapse
