Booked this hotel for 6 of us to stay here in August. The hotel is 10 minute walk into town, which is a lovely walk. The reception area is light and airy and has a nice feel when you walk in. Very impressive as everything so big and spacious. The view behind reception is of the ocean and mountain, which is stunning. However, it starts to go downhill when you get further in. We were on the first floor and to be honest, it was a disappointment. The doors into your room are very thin and you can hear every noise, word being said in the hall. None of the doors have soft closers so you constantly hear doors slamming and kids running up and down. On this floor you have two choices of rooms. Either a mountain view (which our friends had) and is basically as massive wall with cars parked below and the room is very dark. Our room was a garden view, which was stunning but I think you have to pay extra for this. However, the interior of the room is very basic and run down. Things to point out: 1) WIFI is payable at 5 euros a day. There are WIFI hotspots round the hotel but at the end of the day, you want or need it in your bedroom and having to pay for it, does seem a bit of a nerve. I understand that if you go for a more expensive room, then the WIFI is free! 2) The pools close at 6pm. 3) We were half board and the set menu is very boring and nothing Italian about it at all - unless you class potato and pasta soup as Italian. The children's set menu doesn't change at all. 4) Towels are provided by the pool but make sure you return them at the end of each day and give your room number. Otherwise they will charge you 5 euros. 5) Do not use the fridge to store shop purchased water - they will charge you (we were charged) I would say that the waiters work extremely hard and are very friendly and lovely. Would I stay here again- no. The hotel has an amazing site, staff are lovely but when you add on all the extras (not to mention the cost of drinks and food by the pool), then no. There are some gorgeous hotels in Sorrento, we visited some which were cheaper and were fantastic. Shame because it could be amazing. Collapse

We stayed at the Hilton for 7 nights in August. I chose this hotel specifically for the large pool as pool time is important for our 9 and 11 year olds. The pool is not open before 9am so there is not a rush to get to the pool to get a sun bed which is great and, although they do get taken quite quickly, there are plenty of sun beds although you probably want to be there by 10am. Breakfasts were fresh, varied and the waffle, pancake and omelette counter was popular. Tip, breakfast is quite quiet until 9am and then there is a rush and the pancake queue gets very long. We had interconnecting rooms overlooking Sorrento and the Bay of Naples. This was fantastic and the 4 of us would sit on the balcony at times playing games or eating take away pizza for lunch from the pizzeria down the road. The bar and food prices are really expensive which is a shame as we would have enjoyed a few drinks (alcoholic and soft) at the pool bar, even if they were pricey, just not exorbitant. They had happy hour one afternoon at the bar and nearly everyone was enjoying a drink. Instead, we bought beers and mini prosecco from the supermarket which we kept in the mini bar (which only contained hotel water) and enjoyed these on the room balcony. There are vending machines on each floor with drinks and snacks. €2 for coke €1 bottle of water. Ice cream at the pool is €3 for 2 scoops in a bowl with wafer. I found all the staff to be friendly and efficient. We were told at check-in by Mauro about the gate near the swimming pool which saves a bit walking down the hill to town. It is opened by your room card. It doesn't work after 9pm but if you buzz you are let through by reception staff. We were also given wifi codes for use over the week (one code does 2 devices). We had to reset them half way through the week but the same codes worked. It is a great hotel for families during the holidays. I expect it is much quieter at other times with a different atmosphere. There is a pool side kids club. The pool has 2 shallow pools at the top tiers and the others are 1.5m throughout. The rooms, although fairly basic, were spotlessly clean. I am very pleased with my choice of hotel and would recommend it. Collapse

The staff, location, facilities - everything about this hotel was excellent. This was our second trip to the Hilton Sorrento Palace & once again it did not fail to disappoint. Our family room was lovely, very spacious with two bathrooms. The kids club was excellent, not your tpyical club as you have to stay and supervise your children, but still excellent & the staff were amazing with the children. The food continues to be of a high standard and beautiful. The staff are all so professional & helpful, they really went out of their way to make sure our stay was extra special. We can not recommend this hotel more highly! Collapse

Stayed 7th to 14th August 2017 This was our second time here. We visited a couple of years ago and were so impressed that we decided to come again. The was a family holiday with friends. There were four adults and four teenagers. We all had rooms facing the hillside, the view is not great but I the middle of August when the heat is full on the rooms remain cool; although AC is standard. The outward view is by far the best and you see what I mean when you visit. These sea view rooms initially look out to the pool and then Sorrento and further out the Bay of Naples and still further Naples and finally Vesuvius. It is spectacular … really!! The rooms are spacious and clean with balcony's. We had adjoining rooms with the kids. Our accommodation was bed and breakfast. The breakfast is a firm favourite with the kids. It is plentiful and the fresh pancakes and waffles are a must. The adults in our group prefer the fresh fruit. We did not have any other meals here there are far too many restaurants in town to try out. The Bar area was frequented a number of times! However, they have stopped the happy hour. There are really only two down sides to the Hotel but only because I being picky. Firstly, it must be noted that the hotel in on a hillside and the walk to town is not really far but in the heat and the gradient it can be really hard going. I am sure I have read somewhere that a shuttle service is available but this is not available. A taxi can cost €20 from Corso Italia. Second niggle would be that whilst there is an ironing room it would be great to have a laundrette. The nearest one is about 20-30 minutes away down the hill … I know what you're thinking who wants to do washing on holiday? Well when you have been to Pompeii in 35-40 degree heat sweated all morning and back in the train you will want to wash those clothes. Plus you don’t want to bring your whole wardrobe with you because there's Italian leather goods and Limoncello to bring back home! Across the two visits we have viewed the two major historical sites Pompeii & Herculaneum, climbed the volcano, taken the trip to Capri, and taken a private tour to the Amalfi coast. We have used the train service which is not that bad just hot! I would definitely recommend this hotel, the two criticisms are minor in comparison to the view, the friendly and helpful staff.
