Stayed 7th to 14th August 2017 This was our second time here. We visited a couple of years ago and were so impressed that we decided to come again. The was a family holiday with friends. There were four adults and four teenagers. We all had rooms facing the hillside, the view is not great but I the middle of August when the heat is full on the rooms remain cool; although AC is standard. The outward view is by far the best and you see what I mean when you visit. These sea view rooms initially look out to the pool and then Sorrento and further out the Bay of Naples and still further Naples and finally Vesuvius. It is spectacular … really!! The rooms are spacious and clean with balcony's. We had adjoining rooms with the kids. Our accommodation was bed and breakfast. The breakfast is a firm favourite with the kids. It is plentiful and the fresh pancakes and waffles are a must. The adults in our group prefer the fresh fruit. We did not have any other meals here there are far too many restaurants in town to try out. The Bar area was frequented a number of times! However, they have stopped the happy hour. There are really only two down sides to the Hotel but only because I being picky. Firstly, it must be noted that the hotel in on a hillside and the walk to town is not really far but in the heat and the gradient it can be really hard going. I am sure I have read somewhere that a shuttle service is available but this is not available. A taxi can cost €20 from Corso Italia. Second niggle would be that whilst there is an ironing room it would be great to have a laundrette. The nearest one is about 20-30 minutes away down the hill … I know what you're thinking who wants to do washing on holiday? Well when you have been to Pompeii in 35-40 degree heat sweated all morning and back in the train you will want to wash those clothes. Plus you don’t want to bring your whole wardrobe with you because there's Italian leather goods and Limoncello to bring back home! Across the two visits we have viewed the two major historical sites Pompeii & Herculaneum, climbed the volcano, taken the trip to Capri, and taken a private tour to the Amalfi coast. We have used the train service which is not that bad just hot! I would definitely recommend this hotel, the two criticisms are minor in comparison to the view, the friendly and helpful staff. This is a special place that takes customer service to a new level. The staff made you feel like you were the most important person at the hotel. The bar staff made it feel like you were in your favorite place. The food is fantastic. The room was really large and the view was simply amazing. It was very modern and welcoming. Even though the hotel was booked, you never felt crowded at the really large pool. The gelato at the pool bar...mmmmm. Collapse

We really enjoyed our holiday at the Hilton Sorrento but they could do so much better. On a positive note we were delighted to be upgraded to a larger family room after emailing our request prior to arrival. The location of the hotel is excellent only 10 mins walk from the centre of Sorrento. The views are stunning overlooking Mount Vesuvius from the pool & terrace bar. However I feel there are issues at the hotel which require closer scrutiny from the management. The bar and food prices are far too high and the quality/choice is very average. I am used to paying higher hotel prices but after comparing with other hotels in the area, I maintain the food and drinks are poor value for money and as a result I avoided patronising the bar and restaurant whenever possible. At the hotel you pay 16/17 euros for an average pizza where you can walk 5 mins down the road and pay just 5/6 euros for much better quality. This is a real shame as I would have used the facilities far more if the prices had been sensible and the quality/service reflected good value. I am convinced If they made adjustments then revenues and margins would be far greater. I have compared prices with other hotels in the area and the Hilton Sorrento is definitely well over priced for food and beverage. The other problem is some of the bar and restaurant staff(not all) are far too casual in their approach to customers and and not particularly friendly. The table service is very slow as I often had to keep going up to the bar asking for someone to take our order or to present the bill. A friendly smile along with enthusiasm and good humour does not cost anything but goes along way with customers. I fear it is more of a management/training issue that needs addressing by the hotel which can only improve this situation Unfortunately none of the pool rules are enforced by the hotel and often there are sun beds left unoccupied for long periods of time with towels left on them. This is particularly relevant from 9.00am to 11.00am. Also the quantity and size of inflatables in the pool along with avoiding ball games made it very difficult to swim. I trust the points raised help you improve the holiday/leisure experience for future residents. Collapse
Fantastic family holiday

What makes this hotel is the pool area and the people who work here. We had a great holiday, loads to do and see although perhaps we shouldn't have sampled quite so much of the food and wine as a diet is now required ......
