Stayed on the 22nd floor w/executive lounge. Checking process for Platinum members wonderful. Lobby took us to lounge level and we didn't even have to worry about our bags after exiting the taxi (now that's service!) Per some of the other comments, room was a bit small and bathroom was tiny! Functional but dated and tiny. For 1 person it was probably fine but for a family could have been a little larger. Wish they stocked the room with a few more toiletries. Service - staff was very profession. Enjoyed the lounge immensely. Maybe spend more time in the lounge than the room! Staff was very attentive and able to help with any request (juice, drinks, ice, etc) The lounge served a light breakfast/dinner and for many business travelers this is more than enough. The main restaurant downstairs has a superb breakfast buffet. Hotel is on Orchard Road. Enough said. Room has a small balcony. Not that useful in super hot Singapore but some people might like that. Hilton Singapore Orchard Road District, Singapore The Hilton Singapore Orchard road is one of the older hotels along this famous tourist/shopping strip and the following is based on my experience staying there between the 14-18 June and again on the 23 June 2017. On the first visit we were on the 7th floor and moved a few times and finally ended up on the 18th floor. On the second visit I was on the 18th floor. Location. The hotel is located just outside the ERP zone of the Orchard road district (great because the taxi's don't charge you the ERP fees). It is an easy five minute walk down the road to Orchard station and shops and dining are within easy reach. Isetan is about a five minute walk and Paragon, Takashimaya/Ngee Ann City and other centers about ten minutes away. Access to the underground network to avoid the heat can be reached by walking to Angulla Park road and taking the rear entrance to Wheelock Place which connects to Isetan, Orchard Station, Ion Orchard, Tangs, and further down, Lucky Plaza, Ngee Ann city and Takashimaya. Arrival I took a Grab taxi (download the app) from Changi Airport to Orchard Road. Note that the people in the Airport at the taxi rank are particularly unhelpful when you mention the word "Grab" and they would not advise me where I needed to go. So for anyone who wants to obtain a Grab taxi, from terminal 1, when you exit customs you need to turn to your left and walk to the end of the terminal where there is a Pickup point. From there you can call a grab taxi. Depending on the time of day, they are generally cheaper than a regular taxi. If you are at terminal 2, the exists three and four provide access for a Grab taxi. And for Terminal 3 the arrival pickup area is in the basement. Otherwise the other option would be to take the train which is even cheaper but if you have luggage it can be an issue when you have to walk from Orchard station to the hotel, so probably not a good idea unless you're carrying a small bag. The other option from a taxi is a bus, however they now limit the number of pieces to two (one cabin and one suitcase) if you want to use the bus. The Hilton hotel app provides the ability to pre select your room and also select a room key before arrival that is controlled by the App so that you don't even need to obtain a card anymore. Unfortunately the pre-selected room was changed upon arrival and we were placed into a different room. The room key app also did not work on both occasions. On my second visit the room that I had pre-booked was also changed. It is a bit frustrating when you've gone to the trouble to select a room that you're happy with and then you are reallocated a different room. Apart from that, service staff at check in were cheerful and friendly. I was very happy that one of the staff members (I can't remember his name - it started with M and he is Indian, wearing a light grey jacket and works at the concierge area) remembered me after being unable to travel for the last five years and went out of his way to help me have a great stay on both occasions. I used to be a regular at this hotel every year so it was fantastic that he recognised me! After five years away most of staff we knew were no longer there, so I was very surprised and happy to see a familiar face! It makes you feel more at "home". Room We originally stayed in a twin bed room which is large and spacious. At 32 Sq m there is plenty of room to relax. The bathroom however is a bit small and not much room to move, and was very worn out (see details in bathroom section). Beds were comfortable. The room initially provided to us however did have a few issues. Briefly, the air conditioning was noisy and poor at keeping the room cool, the bathroom looked as if it had been through a rough patch up job with sealant/putty around various edges and the soap holders, the shower tap was not working properly despite following instructions and the overall condition of the room was very worn out/tired. It was definitely Not something you'd pay almost SGD $320 per night for (inclusive of taxes). Room features - entrance and decor The entrance to the room contains access to the bathroom upon entry as well as the mini bar, fridge, and clothing cupboard. The decor is modern and light and the room is carpeted fully throughout. - lighting Lighting was good and controlled by a master switch at entry. Each bed also has reading lights and there is a dedicated lamp on the desk as well as an art deco lamp near the window. A master switch also exists near the beds however no night light function as in other Hilton Hotels. - view We had a view of Orchard road and surrounds which includes the Thai embassy, the main road and of the shops nearby. If you stay at the back of the hotel you will have a view of the local neighborhood. - Air-conditioning This was probably the most frustrating issue with the room we initially stayed in - the air-conditioning was noisy and did not cool down the room with any great speed. Even when I placed the temperature down to 18 degrees it was still very warm - I don't think it ever dropped that low. And that was after shutting the curtains to reduce the impact of heat from the window. We eventually were moved to another room which was slightly better. - Suitcase/luggage stand A single luggage stand easily accommodated my 32" suitcase and has a drawer underneath - Clothes storage A wardrobe is located near the entrance next to the minibar area. It provides reasonable room to hang suits and a few drawers for other clothes. In the wardrobe is an iron and ironing board and safe. Also located in this area are some slippers and laundry bags. - Room safe The safe is large and accommodating and able to fit my SLR camera, passport and other items. - Television Television worked well and has a large range of channels to watch including some cable channels. - Smart features The outlets to plug your equipment such as laptops in the room are multi adaptable so that you don't need to carry adapters. It would be great if USB ports were available in the room so that charging items such as cell phones and ipads would be easier. Unfortunately in the room we finally moved to the outlet next to the bed near the bathroom was damaged/pushed in so we were unsure how safe this was and did not use it. - Bed Beds are comfortable and not too hard/soft. Height can be a bit high if you are short. Sheets and covers were clean. The matress sits ontop of a base, so if you drop something at night you may need to use a torch to find it in the morning under the bed. - desk space The desk space is large and great for spreading out documents or sorting though clothes or other items. It's great because it is glass so if you drop something you can see where it has gone. The chair provided is a Herman Miller which is very comfortable if you need to sit down and work for long periods. - Fridge A fridge is provided which in the first room was empty which was great because we had a lot of perishable items (chocolates) so did not have to remove the drinks etc and store them somewhere else. The fridge worked well and kept everything cool. - Coffee and tea making Regular coffee and tea facilities are provided in the standard rooms. There is a nespresso provided in the upgraded room we received, however as there was no milk heater/frother my brother who really enjoys coffee ended up not using this facility. Two bottles of water are provided which is great because at this time of year the heat and humidity means you need to keep hydrated. - Internet access Internet access is provided free of charge if you are a Hilton hhonors member and book through the hotel website. Connectivity was okay, however we experienced some drop outs during our stay and had to reconnect a few times. - Clock A clock is provided in room which is a LED clock. That's great because if you wake up early, and it is dark, it's easy to read. Bathroom The bathroom in the standard rooms we were first allocated was tired. The original room we were in the soap holder and shampoo holder looked as if someone had done a rushed repair job and applied putty to it to make sure that they stayed in position and the taps for the shower took a bit of play to get them to work. The wood paneling around the basin was worn and the bath had a rubber mat in it that looked quite worn. There was one hook on the rear door which really wasn't enough to hang clothes to change into - it would be great if further hooks were provided so that used and new clothes could be hung separately whilst having a shower. The bathroom did not reflect that we were in a five star hotel, more like a budget hotel. Later on we were moved to another room which was much better and the bathroom was much better with regular taps and a rain shower. The shower also had a seat which was great to just sit down and relax. Whilst this was a fancier version of a bathroom, the original room would have been fine if it was not so worn out and looked like a 2 star bathroom. A phone is situated in the bathroom and easy to access. A close up mirror for shaving is provided and is located near the basin for easy shaving. Bathroom amenities included toothbrushes, vanity kits and other bits and pieces. Housekeeping Housekeeping was great and the staff always greet you as you arrive or depart your room. If you need something they are more than happy to provide it to you. Pool The pool is more of a "show pool" as it is an odd shape so swimming for exercise is limited as it is not a full length 25 or 50m pool. However it is great just to be able to get some laps and it is on the rooftop of the hotel so you get a great view. Dining There are several dining options in the hotel which include a coffee shop on the ground floor and a restaurant where buffet breakfast is served each morning. We found the buffet breakfast in the morning great with a large range of Eastern and Western choices. There was a lady at the omelette stand who was very accommodating as each morning I took up smoked salmon to her and she added it to my omelette with other ingredients. Part of the buffet breakfast rotates so that you don't face the same things every morning. Especially with the Asian selections. Regulars such as bacon and eggs are always there. I found the kaya steamed buns delicious. Concierge It was great to be recognised by some older team members who have been with the hotel for more than 10 years. He even remembered I used to travel with my Mother and enquired as to how she was. Anything I needed was not a problem and they cheerfully provided assistance. There was also an elderly Indian gentleman there who wore glasses who assists with luggage and also remembered me. Check out/Departure Check out was quick and easy, As I was returning to the hotel in a few days, they even let me store some of my luggage at the hotel so that I did not need to carry it overseas with me for that short trip. On my second stay, as my flight did not leave until 9pm, the hotel graciously provided an extended checkout time of 4pm, which was great as I didn't need to rush to pack that morning and went out to see some friends, do some more shopping and then returned to pack. There was a bit of an issue with arranging for someone to come and take my bags down. I originally made a call for someone to collect my bags and half an hour later no one came, I had to call again and they sent someone to pick up my bags about 10 minutes later. When I checked out the second time, the person at the concierge (again, I can't remember his name - Indian person starting with M) remembered my Mother who used to join us on trips to Singapore. As she is now too old to travel he was incredibly nice and presented me with a gift to take home to my Mother to let her know that the staff at the Hilton are thinking of her. It was an incredibly nice gesture. (Just wish I could remember his name). Further comments: When we checked into the hotel the first visit and were disappointed with the condition of the room and air conditioning, the management on duty, Joshua and Nick were very accommodating and nice to find a room that had suitable air conditioning and on a suitable floor (there are certain floor numbers that are not good for Asian people). We ended up going through several rooms before a suitable one was found and even received complimentary coffee and cake vouchers, and a bottle of wine and chocolates for the inconvenience incurred. Upon my return for the second stay they ensured that the room condition was not run down and that the air conditioner worked well. I again pre-booked the room and unfortunately it was not available due to a guest already staying in the hotel being ill and unable to leave so was still placed on the same floor with a room nearby. Rating Overall our stay ended up being a great one despite a few disappointments at the start. It was great to see that the Management truly want to "make things right" as advised in the lift and signs around the hotel. They worked really hard to make our stay an enjoyable one. I think the original room we had was on the 7th floor and I would not recommend that room - I think it's really due for refurbishment. However the other room we ended up in was much better condition and made for a very enjoyable stay at the standard we have come to expect from the Hilton. We have been staying here since the 1970s when visiting Singapore and whilst the service is excellent, the room we originally stayed in was very tired. I just hope that the rooms all receive proper refurbishment so that in future we don't need to move from room to room and the air-conditioner works properly. When staying at the Hyatt in Hong Kong recently, the air-conditoner worked perfectly to ensure that it was a delightful escape from the heat! (See my other recent review). The rating for the first stay is 3.5 stars due to the poor quality room provided and the need to move to a few different rooms to find a decent air-conditioner. However the second stay is rated at 4.5 stars as the room was a vast improvement over the first stay's room. Staff without a doubt understand customer service and deliver this well from the moment you arrive to departure and had the room been up to five star standard the review would have been five stars+! Hopefully on a future trip back to Singapore we can rate the hotel a full five stars! Collapse

Arriving at around 3pm, I was underwhelmed by the tired looking state of the lobby. It looked and felt tired when compared to the Grand Hyatt nearby. The hotel was sold out and the check in counter was flooded with tons of people. The room that I checked into online was unavailable and I was given another room instead. After settling all the administrative matters, I arrived at my very generic and sparse room, which was located on the 22nd floor, the same level as the executive lounge. The bed was comfortable. There was a desk suitable for working and an ottoman by the bedside. There was a balcony, but even so it was bare. No welcome amenity was provided. Made a stop at the executive lounge during evening canapés and the place was filled to the brim. There were insufficient seats and the place was understaffed. The quality of food was again just adequate. Nothing amazing. The next day, my request for late request was rejected because the hotel was “soldout”, but on checking the Hilton Honors app, they were selling every single room type. I was not even trying to be unreasonable because late check out is a Diamond benefit. This really ruined the stay for me. Collapse

Hi I'm Danish from Pakistan. I went to Singapore on honeymoon and it was also my first visit there so obviously I was bit nervous. My friend referred me to stay in Hilton. Nice rooms and dinning hall. I got 12th floor with back view. Location is outstanding with shopping malls and MRT in vicinity. By the time I reached the hotel since then during my 4-days stay I didn't faced any problem. Staff was so caring and polite and always ready to help and guide their customers. Mr Zaki a reception desk member made my visit very comfortable and memoreble. He was always ready to resolve any problem, arrange tours / shuttles etc. Thanks Zaki for your assistance see you in future very soon IA :-) Collapse
