Hi Shalika of Hilton Singapore Executive Lounge.. Thank you for the warmest hospitality you and your wonderful staff have given my family during our short Stay-cation. This warm reception started even before we packed our bags and left our home to the hotel, as I received an email from you on the morning of our scheduled checked-in informing me of the check-in details, reservation details and even asking what you could do to make our stay wonderful. I am truly amazed with that email. In addition, you offered to give a surprise birthday reception for my son who was turning 6 years old on this day. I have mostly stayed in Hilton Hotel for work and holidays across Asia, Europe and US for the past decade and i must say that this is the BEST OF THE BEST service i ever experience. I am proud to be a HILTON WORLDWIDE shareholder. Both my kids and wife were amaze with the experiences and the service staff who gave us a their sincere and honest smiles throughout our stay. My son was suspecting something is not right the moment he step into the Executive Lounge. He had a truly memorable Birthday at Hilton Singapore. I am proud of you and all your staff. I have copied your CEO on this mail so that he is aware that he had an excellent team in Hilton Singapore. The Singapore Hilton – where do I start? I have stayed here many times and written previous review on Trip Advisor which have degraded with time. Last time when I arrived, the wifi did not work and I received a dozen excuses. This time I could not make any phone calls from my room and again received many very polite excuses but at the end of the day excuses do not help; I hear these almost every visit to the Singapore Hilton – we are upgrading this or that – well get on with it – for example, three years and three floors of bathroom reno’s and now for those rooms with functional modern bathrooms of an expected standard, the rate for those rooms has increased! This is a supposedly a top hotel (maybe 3-4* at best) and it is incumbent upon you to provide these functional facilities and not charge your customers additional for the use of them. Given the efficiency of the rest of Singapore where an entirely new MRT line can be constructed in less time than the Hilton can renovate three floors of bathrooms, what is going on? Would you like me to project manage it for you as you appear to struggle with timing and completion? One does not expect these types of shortcomings, not for the high room rates the Hilton charges (even though I am using points). Singapore works and the Hilton apparently struggles. WRT to the phone issue, the operator however kindly put the calls through for me which I appreciated. As an aside, I do not use my mobile to make calls outside of Australia as Telstra charges a fortune when outside Aust, seemingly by the second! The General Manager, Mr Webster left a comment on my previous Trip Advisor review stating that he had someone update my profile so that I would receive a renovated room (a shower stall, and not crawl over bath) on my next stay and would welcome my comments – really? Well I am unsure what a renovated room looks like as it obviously did not occur. It would appear that Mr Webster made a hollow promise in this instance – how I hate that when management make promises purely to placate you and then never follow up on them hoping that you will just go away! I did talk to the reception staff regarding these shortfalls and the state of my initial room (2111) with parts of the wallpaper peeling off the wall behind the large lamp (does not matter how small – it just should not happen)! At least there were no holes in the skirting this time. I have been a Diamond member for the past 14-15 years and now retired, so I using up my points – perhaps that has something to do with the room one receives? I did however receive a call from the Duty Manager, Ms Nakano who kindly offered me a better room. I took up her offer and I appreciate her professionalism and customer service – first rate. Ms Nakano followed through on a promise…… Unfortunately Mr Webster, who I am told was informed of my displeasure, has not bothered to contact me with an apology for essentially lying to me and before management comes back stating there was no renovated rooms available for my length of stay, there was as I was offered one prior to Ms Nakano’s kind offer. I know my comments here are for the most negative but that is generally aimed towards the disgusting standards of the rooms and upper Management but on the positive side, the staff the punters come in contact with I found to be very nice and the service offed by the concierge, again I found excellent. Always a smile and a hello. Whilst the Executive Lounge has lost the high standards it once had pre-renovation (it was once the best exec lounge for canapés in the region – alas that has now been lost), it is still nice and again the staff are so helpful, welcoming and friendly it almost make one forget the state of the room one has to go back to (maybe that is why they offer you a final glass of …. at closing time)! I dare say I will not be welcome back at the Singapore Hilton again, and as I have posted this review whilst still a guest….I may well be evicted …. In any case the next time I visit Singapore, I would have lost my Diamond status and well – you can guess … a basement room with holes everywhere, wallpaper peeling like sunburn and a bath one needs a ladder to climb into to take a low pressure shower! PS – humour does not come across in these posts but I trust people can read between the lines at the sarcasm and take it in the light heartedness it was intended. Collapse

Luxurious Family Holiday at the Hilton on Orchard Road

We had travelled to Singapore for a small Family getaway and stayed at the Hilton on Orchard Road. The hotel is very Luxurious and the rooms are top notch. The quality of linen and the ambience in the room is very relaxing. Our Children really enjoyed the whole hotel experience. The quality of breakfast was amazing and the variety was very good. The best part is that the Hotel is most conveniently located and is at a walking distance from all the major shopping areas on Orchard Road. There are numerous eateries around the hotel and you have a wide food choice especially if you are travelling with your families and the kids require a lot of variety. The kids also enjoyed the roof top swimming pool and you can have amazing views of the Singapore Skyline. Overall the experience at staying at the Hilton was just wonderful and we would surely be back to stay at the Hotel. Only one small suggestion that I have for the hotel management is that If one is a Hilton Honours member and if they have got their booking done through their agent Free Wifi facility should be provided to them. We were not allowed the free wifi access despite being a HH member. Collapse
