Recently came back from a 7 night getaway at this resort. I booked two standard rooms and was upgraded to 2 adjoining pool rooms at the reception. This was great because I was traveling with a small child (5) and having the connected rooms is very convenient. The rooms themselves are 5 star with all the amenities you would expect from a Hilton branded hotel, ie updated bathrooms/showers, comfortable bedding/furniture etc. The Air Conditioning was strong and worked perfectly well. One big downside of the hotel is that there is no WiFi or plug in connection available in the rooms, only at the poolside and reception (speed is limited to 512kb). The main pool on the property is appealing and well maintained. They have nets for both water polo as well as volleyball which are always great activities. My only complaint about the pool is they keep GIANT SPEAKERS right next to it and BLAST music constantly like you are in a club. Also some of the music played features profanity (50 Cent, DMX). To be fair to the staff I brought this to their attention and they claimed not to understand the vulgar language and turned it off for a while and kept the volume lower at other points. Other than this minor issue no complaints about the pool experience. The beach access is disappointing. There is very little beach space and it only accommodates about 20 lounge chairs. Additionally the sand area is very limited when going for a swim and quite rocky. You definitely need shoes. On the upside they do have a deck which extends to the deeper area of the pool where you are able to go swim in a deeper section of the sea as well as do some light snorkeling with goggles that are available to rent at the beach. The biggest complaint I have about this hotel and where it truly deviates from the American Hilton standard I am accustomed to is regarding the food. Having visited other all-inclusive resorts managed by Hilton previously (both in Egypt and US/Europe) I was shocked at the food selection. They only have food available during the day at the Sunset Beach Bar which is EXTREMELY far from the main pool area. They serve drinks only at the pool bar. I will say though that they food was great at the beach bar. We enjoyed hamburgers and fries there. The meals take place at the main restaurant which is called Mafouz. Breakfast was excellent. Every morning they had a great selection of eggs, omelets, freshly made pancakes which were fantastic, plus cereals, yogurts etc. The drop off from the quality of breakfast to lunch/dinner was atrocious. They consistently served fried fish (fish heads and all) as well as beef liver during the week I was there. This is completely unacceptable. Additionally they consistently offered a slow cooked beef that resembled pot roast. NEWSFLASH it's 100 degrees outside and everyone is hot, do not serve pot roast (traditionally a winter meal) just because you can buy cheap beef that is chewy. On a few nights they offered freshly made pizza which was excellent, the only problem is there was such a demand for it (because the rest of the food was unappetizing and sometimes inedible) that it was an ordeal to get a slice at times. They would take what should be a personal pan sized pizza and slice it into 8 tiny pieces. On two separate occasions they offered chicken and beef shawarma which were good, wish they would have had it more instead of offering liver. As far as the desert is concerned don't even ask. There was nothing worth discussing that was offered good or bad, incredibly bland. Lastly DO NOT be conned into accepting their voucher for the Italian restaurant Il Rustico. I tried to order the lasagna and the waiter told me he wouldn't recommend it because "I wouldn't eat it myself". I ordered the chicken milanese ie chicken parmigiana. The Egyptian definition of chicken parmigiana seems to be pasta in tomato sauce accompanied with breaded chicken fingers. It was so bad that an Italian family next to us got up and yelled at the waiter about the food and then proceeded to go upstairs to the Mafouz restaurant for the regular dinner. Yikes! As for the staff, for the most part they were very helpful. The parking attendants were great, they even told the front desk who then called me that I left the light on in my car upon check in. Mahmoud in housekeeping was great. He would leave the room clean and even make a crane out of the towels for my 5 year old, he loved it! The staff at the pool bar was helpful and would do anything you would ask. For example they took my suggestion and added ice to the hot nescafe they served so I could have an iced coffee by the pool. Other than one worker who was at the restaurant who seemed miserable (a man named Mahmoud in a chef hat who just had a bad attitude in general) the rest of the meal staff was good. I brought this disgruntled worker's behavior to Chef Ahmed Fawzy's attention and he handled the situation appropriately. Overall Hilton Sharks Bay wouldn't be my first choice when booking for my next Sharm Holiday (in fact I just booked 2 rooms for 7 nights for next month at the Renaissance by Marriott where I have stayed previously). There were positives to this hotel and the trip wasn't a disaster by any means. It just wasn't up to the Hilton standard. As an American I choose a reputable hotel like a Hilton because I expect a certain standard. I feel like because tourism has been so deeply impacted in Sharm and that there are more and more Egyptians staying at the hotel as opposed to European and North American travelers that maybe this has caused their standards to slip. I hope they take the criticism seriously and make the appropriate improvements to the hotel. I would book again in the right situation but would definitely lower my expectations. Collapse

Nice place average rooms A/C didn't work on arrival called maintenance a few times every time he got it going again. It stops working after a few hours. Hotel crew service and hospitality was mediocre, very depressing 3 nights except for the restaurant (buffet) team a big thank you to Hodar and the team captain Ibrahim they were outstanding and they made our experience pleasurable. The lobby crew need extensive training on how to welcome their guests and how to attend to their requests very slow and practice how to smile. I won't be returning back.. Collapse
