We've stayed at other all-inclusive hotels in UAE but this one exceeded our expectations - great beach location, excellent friendly and cheerful staff, very comfortable rooms, spacious interior, big swimming pools and grounds with places for couples who want to relax in peace as well good facilities for families. You do have to sign for towels and that usually bugs me but Said was always cheerful and very helpful around the main pool area. We stayed in the main building overlooking the pools and beach and our Housekeeping Associate, Kalvin, looked after us really well. On a Virgin package there were special menu's at the Italian and Brazilian restaurants and food and service was excellent (thanks Bibek) The main buffet restaurant can get quiet busy - thank you Vismi and Sila for finding us preferred places - but the food is very high standard and the chefs were always around making sure nothing ran out. Not much by way of entertainment but the Dome Café Bar in a great place for a drink at night (and great snacks) and thanks especially to Krishna and Monika. There a few small shopping malls not far away so this holiday was all about relaxation and for that the Hilton is hard to beat and we shall certainly go back. Collapse

I made a booking for this hotel via travel agent DNata Travel on 4th March for a night's stay on 16th March. On 14th and 15th March I was emailing the hotel to request that a cake was placed in the room as we were bringing out friend to the hotel for a surprise birthday treat and also to book a table at our preferred restaurant for dinner, the Cluster Reservation Agent came back to me and confirmed this would be arranged for us. We arrive at around 10am on Friday morning (after travelling 1 hour and 35 minutes from Dubai), to arrive at the check in desk to simply be told by a member of staff "Our hotel is fully booked so we will be moving you to our sister hotel 20 minutes away", I was stunned with her bluntness and absolute lack of an explanation! We wait for around 10 minutes for the Reservation manager and Front Desk manager to come to speak to us and obviously my first question is "why weren't we contacted to be informed of the overbooking and given the choice to amend the booking date or accept the relocation for this date?" They explain to us that they had contacted Dnata Travel to get my contact details but Dnata (or the middle agent between Dnata and Hilton) didn't have them..... So how did they email me my booking confirmation? And in this day and age there are very few occasions where you can make a booking without having to put in a contact number! And irrelevant to all of this the Cluster Reservation Agent had my email address as he had spoken to me 2 days earlier to confirm our request for a birthday cake and restaurant booking!!!!! Absolutely poor excuses and just an easy get out for the hotel to put blame onto the agent and attempt to make this look like this wasn't their fault, which was obviously difficult for them to deny when I showed them the email proving they had my email address! So I call Dnata and they confirm my contact details are linked to the booking and that the hotel confirmed the booking with the agent on 12th March (4 days before we were due to stay) and provided me with a confirmation number that Hilton provided them with, so not at all is this the agents fault. During this conversation other people are turning up to check in and NOT being turned away so we ask what the process is for who they decide gets a room and who doesn't, and the hotel admits they over book to ensure they operate at full capacity and rely on having a cancellation or no show in order to be able to take all the bookings.. Disgraceful! The full payment was taken at time of booking knowing they may not even be able to accommodate our stay. We eventually agree to move to the other hotel (we've wasted lots of time and my poor friends who's birthday surprise it is has already had a bad enough start to the trip) And we were really no other choice apart from the option to come back on another date, so we ask the hotel are you going to compensate for the fuel and time we've wasted coming here today? And then again to come back on another day? No, they are not! We are then told the journey to the other hotel is 20 minutes.. It wasn't, it was 35 minutes, and back in the direction we had already came from!!! We were given the half board option as a poor compensation for the mess they had caused us and told we were upgraded to a suite - It was not a suite, the beach access was a nice feature but other than that it was a normal room! The service is good but the hotel is old and dated, all cushions and furniture in the room and restaurants has stains and marks all over it! We had looked at this hotel when booking the RAK Resort and Spa and chosen against it for a number of reasons including the fact it looked so old hence why we were so reluctant to move hotels! Then because of the huge amount of time we had wasted all due to Hilton's lack of pro-activeness and shoddy service, we walk to both pools to find them completely full and have to go and sit on the beach where there is no bar or place to get snacks or drinks. I could go on and on about other issues but my main point here is that all Hilton had to do was call me to advise of the lack of space at the hotel. Yes it would've still been frustrating as we'd booked our trip based on all 3 of our calendars being free but it would've been much better for us to try and rearrange a date, to stay at the hotel we wanted instead of turning up to be turned away, experience an unpleasant argument with the staff and waste so much of our time moving hotels when we only had 1 day and night together to celebrate our friends birthday! And then to top it all off the Front Desk manager didn't call me to follow up until 5pm on Saturday.. we'd already checked out and got back to Dubai.. Ridiculous! My family have been to visit me in Dubai and stayed in the Hilton at JBR twice... They won't be staying there in the future, I won't ever be booking with a Hilton again and neither will my friends who travelled with me either!!! Collapse

I never write reviews... however after coming home from this family holiday, I felt compelled to do so. The hotel itself is beautiful and feels very luxurious. We stayed in a pool front room which was spacious, but did feel a little dark and tired inside. This wasn’t much of an issue as we hardly spent any time in our room!! Much like the other reviewers, I couldn’t leave a review without mentioning the staff at this hotel, who really without doubt are what makes this hotel worthy of its 5 stars. They simply cannot do enough for you. The lifeguards are just fabulous and so friendly. We had particularly great service from Prasil and Jthin in the Maarid restaurant- thank you. Being gluten free, Snibu and Thamin (chefs)provided me with special food requests which was gratefully received. Bilal, who is the chef at the Brazilian restaurant made sure we had an amazing time with gorgeous food. This place is a must. Ahmed who was our buggy driver for our two week stay was a gem. So friendly, polite and couldn’t do enough for us. A very special mention, however has to be for Noel in the lobby lounge/bar. Such a genuine person who remembered what we liked to drink from the first day. We were given such a personal service from Noel and it was his level of service and attention to detail that really did make the hotel a five star. Our children were given the opportunity to make cocktails behind the bar with Noel and they absolutely loved this. It’s these little things that go a long way. All in all... we loved our stay. We will definitively be returning. Thank you Hilton... Collapse
