Went to the Hilton for a spa stay with my mum and sister to celebrate my 30th birthday and was so disappointed with our spa stay. During our stay, it came to our attention that in the brochure the price for a 90 minute treatment is the price we paid for a 60 minute plus a 15 minute treatment which left us feeling quite put out. For the price we paid, I felt we could have gotten much better elsewhere (The village Spa has a much better deal and service). As well as this, there were lots of little issues we faced. The worst issue was during one of our treatments, in order to remove the body scrub, we had to wrap ourselves in a towel, walk across the gym and pool area in order to go to the changing rooms to remove the body scrub. I have never had to do this at any other spa and thought it was completely inappropriate. As well as this, there was no actual shower gel in the shower to remove it. Our other issues included: *No slippers given at all *Dressing gowns given at spa were very small (we are only size 12/14) and didn't cover our bikinis and could therefore not be worn for the treatments *Head massage was not performed well *"Goody bag" consisted of 4 tiny sample sized products, only two of which were elemis *Although we were made us aware that we would have to have a double spa room, the room was very small, right next to the gym which could be heard during the treatment *We weren't collected until 2.35 and were out of the room by 3.40 - not giving us our full treatment time especially considering we also showered in this time. *The cups in the "relaxation area" (which was quite uncomfortable) were dirty *Only one towel was used to cover myself during the massage so when moving, I felt quite exposed (in other places, they use multiple towels so this does not happen) As well as this, we weren't particularly impressed with the hotel. The bed and pillows were quite uncomfortable and the "queen family room" was only a double bed with a single pull out from a sofa. It was also only made up for two people so we had to request more towels and refreshments/cups. For all of these issues to be encountered in one stay is quite disheartening. I have been to quite a few hotels for spa stays and this has unfortunately got to be one of the worst experiences I have had. The hotel has a wow factor when walking in due to its location. Breakfast was ok and plentiful but I certainly would not recommend this hotel. On our return home, we did try to contact the hotel with our concerns but this was not met with understanding or resolution. After paying almost £400 for a one night spa stay, I am very very disappointed and urge others to look elsewhere. Collapse
A well managed Hotel in a good location.

I stayed here for a two nights whilst on Business. The location is great - a few minutes walk from the quayside and bridges and across to the Centre of Newcastle. The secure car park is very useful too and not expensive given the location etc. I had a nice room overlooking the river. The room had lots of space, good Wi-Fi and plenty of power sockets. The bathroom was nice too with usual 'Hilton Toiletries' and plenty of towels etc. The lighting was good and TV is easy to use and nice wide screen. The room was pretty quiet with no real 'in-house' noise you can get at some hotels. The A/C units can be noisy but they all are and its how you use it!! Breakfast was plentiful, a great selection of food and lovely views. Though be prepared as it can get busy on the 8am-9am slot, but the staff were helpful and friendly and will help you out. Overall it's more of a Business than Leisure hotel during the week but may change at weekends and is a good place to stay and I would go again. Collapse
Not brilliant value for money

The room was great- very spacious and comfy beds. The restaurant was amazing too- lovely choice and delicious food. Staff were excellent too- really attentive and helpful. Laura on reception was lovely. The only thing that let us down was the long wait for breakfast. We got down to breakfast at 9:45 and we had to wait 15 mins to get a table. I would recommend getting down to breakfast later when there was no queue or just come earlier. Other than that, it was a fab stay. Collapse

As you would expect from Hilton efficient check in and out, lovely room, great breakfast. The only thing that wasn't as great as other hotels (of this standard/price) was that I didn't find the bed as comfortable as peer hotels. Don't get me wrong it was better than some basic hotels, but not as nice as better quality hotels - it probably wasn't even as nice as the premier inn (I think those are very comfy for the price of the rooms). However what would put me off staying here again wax the price of parking. I didn't arrive until 6pm and I'd left by 8am and I paid over £20 to park my car! Collapse
