My son, daughter-in-law and grandson had a friend’s wedding in Munich and decided to make it a family vacation too. As a Hilton, Marriott, Starwood, Priority Club Elite member, I had choices to book at several hotels but remembered this property as being in a great location with excellent staff and although I knew it was being renovated, reached out to GM Soerensen to request a great room, rollaway bed and access to Elite Benefits given my status. Not only did GM Soerensen PERSONALLY reply (normally staff will respond but when a GM takes the time to do so, it’s telling that a property is being managed by Leadership top down and you can see that behavior from all of the staff) but re-assured me that they would all be taken care of and my request for their luggage being stored while they attended a wedding for a few days before returning to the Hilton would be no issue. On my family's arrival, My 3 yr. grandson son was greeted with chocolates from the concierge and a comfy rollaway bed in their room. Martin was awesome and helped them review train tickets to Zurich prior to their arrival. The location of the Hotel is perfect as it’s walking distance to the infamous Deutsches Science museum and a metro stop underground for direct transportation to airport. The king size bed was hard to get, and a rarity in lots of European hotels so another big thank you. The housekeeping staff was so efficient, professional and friendly and helpful with daily fresh linens and laundry. Breakfast buffet was Americanized with some German touches such as pretzels. The afternoon dessert had delicious European cakes to sample, my daughter-in-law’s being lingonberry while their toddler enjoyed Fanta from classic glass bottles. And a special thank you to the GM and his staff for a welcome fruit basket with delicious grapes & truffles. Note yes they are undergoing renovations as stated on their website. My family didn’t hear any noise during their stay (stayed at the back). Only minus with a small toddler is it’s a longer walk to navigate the hotel. But if you plan to visit the hotel when renovations are finished, it will be immaculate, a tribute to German efficiency, attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile (or KM) for excellence. My thanks and appreciation to GM Soerensen and his staff for taking excellent care of my family and staying in direct touch with me, despite how busy he has to be. Again a mark of a truly exceptional GM. You and your staff rock GM Soerensen!!!! Collapse

I stayed at the Hilton Munich City for the second time for the first week in September. I again appreciated the fact that it is not in the "heart" of the tourist zone. It is in a nice neighborhood and the Pedestrian Zone is only a 7/8 minute walk. There is a ubahn stop directly under the hotel making access to all parts of the city very easy. Even though the hotel is under renovation, which will address some updating concerns, it did not interfere with my enjoyment of my stay. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the people in the bar and restaurant at night could not be more efficient or friendly. I will definitely stay here again the nest time I go to Munich. And, the price is more than right on the Hilton website. Collapse

First, the hotel is very dated. The halls are very beat up, as well as the rooms. The check in process was long and awful. We reserved a family room which means two adjoining rooms with two beds for a family, hence the term "family" room. We got to our room and there was one bed. Had to go back down for them to work through getting us a new room. They were so confused. Finally got a manager involved who acted like we got upgraded. Um, no, we got the room I paid for. We are diamond members and were put on the 2nd floor. Our preference on file is high floor. I understand not being able to get our preference every time but we have not been on the 2nd floor in years. Also, do not stay here unless you get a non-road view room. It is super loud. You can only have four devices per room on the internet. We did not have four devices and had problems with the internet. When we called down to ask for help since we work online and need internet for our employment, the gentleman said we had too many devices and that was it. Well, I can count and we did not. I assured him we did not but there was no fix. We finally went up to the Executive Lounge where the receptionist there gave us a code. Thank goodness!! During the food portion of the Executive Lounge it is like crazy town. People are rude. This is not the hotels fault, but buyer beware. Germans want their free food! And want it before you. Calm down, folks, it is not running out. And finally the worst of the worst which is what I really should have started with. We got our bill and normally I barely look at it since I'm not sure I've ever had a problem. We were overcharged by over $500 Euro. EECK!!!!!!! Nothing was right on the bill. Not even close. Thank goodness I had a printout from my Hilton Account prior to traveling to prove what my quoted rate was. Even as I was leaving, I wasn't sure she had fixed it. (she did) Now the hotel will respond with some sort of response that will make it seem like they fixed any issues brought to their attention. And they will act like they know who I am. But there were far too many issues during our three day stay. And I will not have a chance to respond to their response. Let's just say we travel the world and my kid said this was the worst hotel ever from start to finish. Collapse
