Too big to have time to care, and beware the "Deluxe Riverside View"

This was by far (and by some considerable distance) the most disappointing hotel we stayed in during our holiday. It is big with a sizeable, almost continuous, inflow/outflow of customers, so it was perhaps understandable (but still sad) that it lacks the "we care about you" approach that we experienced in such full measure at everywhere else we stayed. From the moment we checked in (indifferent and unhelpful Receptionist, room not ready despite arriving in the afternoon and, when finally ready, not prepared properly (had to telephone housekeeping to get toilet paper!) we realised that this was a place designed to mass feed and accommodate, rather than care about, its clients. Also beware: we booked a "Deluxe Riverside View" room but the hotel is sited on the bend of the river such that all rooms have a riverside view, but our side overlooked a massive construction site as well, so suggest asking for the "Deluxe Riverside View without the Building Site" option if you book. A great start to Mother's Day with my son, enjoying a cocktail from the 32nd floor, overlooking the river. The accompanying appetisers are tasty fish bites before we headed back down to The Flow restaurant for the buffet. The choice of food is just fantastic- we enjoyed salmon, cold cuts, Bloody Mary's, carpaccio's, pate and prawns before we tucked in to main courses of roast beef and lamb. But my favourite place is the cheese room! Around 50 different varieties with plenty of fruit, chutneys, crackers and breads. The chocolate room was my sons favourite place though - delightful soufflés on offer, as well as an array of pastries and fruit desserts. A must for foodies and I'll definitely be back! Collapse

Great location and a beautiful hotel. However it could be cleaner and better maintained. Great rooftop bar with a splendid view and a nice size pool. I loved the food especially the dinner. I would recomend

This is a nice hotel, on par with many others across the river, but much more easier on the pocket. The level of luxury is above standard with adequate and complete amenities. There is a nice little boat with attentive and polite crew which plies the river from the hotel pier to Saphan Thaksin and its sky train, making a visit to the city centre quite convenient and exhilarating. However, the staff need a little bit of retraining. On check-out, I patiently waited behind a white couple and when my turn came, the Hilton staff, name of Ms Mon, ignored me and called another guest who she claimed was there before me. When I pointed out I was there first, she positively argued with me and was unapologetic till the end. This is not on and i am unsure if there is any racist element to this issue. What a sad end to an otherwise enjoyable stay. Collapse

We stayed here for 2 nights in one of the executive suites. The hotels amenities were quite beautiful ( definitely go to the pool ). I was not overly happy with the room though, if we were staying longer I would of asked to be moved as the room smelt quite damp/musty. The larger shower head also did not work. Overall we were satisfied with the stay, but will try another hotel if we are in Bangkok again. Collapse
