The Millenium Hilton. Of course, what first comes to mind is The Millenium Falcon reference. And it turns out to be a pretty good match! The [Star Wars] Falcon was a broken down ex-top-of-the-line vessel once capable of wonders in the space-travel category. This Hilton is quite similar in that it too is a broken down ex-top-of-the-line hotel once synonymous with wonders in the Travel category. But even though the staff is very competent and helpful, the fact of the matter is that the Hilton standard simply doesn’t apply here. - All night (and probably day, but we didn't stay long enough to check), an extremely loud ventilation comes on regularly and cannot be controlled. It blows a frigid air into the room to make sure that if the noise hasn't woken you up, the dropping temperature will. It is unfortunately disconnected from the air conditioning controls and seems to have a life of its own. - In between these breaths of fresh air, the rattling sounds of poorly tuned elevators will keep you on your toes all night (and day if you inexplicably decide to spend more time in the room than is strictly necessary) as they whisk by your floor at high speed (we were on the 41st). At first, I honestly thought it was an airplane coming into Newark flying overhead. - If you need to connect to the Internet, remember this great line from "Me & Bobby McGee" (Grateful Dead version): "Nothing ain't worth nothing, but it's free". While Wi-Fi IS provided free of charge, don't expect to do much with it. Speed varies between comatose and barely alive, at least during my short stay. - The carpets, in the room and in the elevators, have clearly seen better days, although the stains do reference some Rothko influence as well as some Pollock if you pay attention... The walls are similarly entertaining. - On the 41st floor, room 4103, the water pressure is very gentle. Probably too gentle for a good shower, but as no shampoo is provided (bring your own!), at least you won't waste any time rinsing your hair. Live music is provided on thursday evenings, and the group (a man and a woman) was actually very good. So, at least on these days, you might want to stay in the lobby for as long as you can and enjoy the show rather than going back to your room... Collapse

Whys its a five It is literally feet from the 9 11 memorial. It has a garage right there. It has an on site restaurant and bar. The subway is right there. The building is very tall and the elevators were very responsive so the wait was never... The view from the room (high floor) was perfect, especially at night as the world trade center was lit up Why is a three The rooms are worn out, there is no car valet and getting a cab without uber is impossible The restaurant has a very limited menu. The bar area closes at 11 on Fridays and they are adamant about closing and actually ask you to leave. Very expensive as you are paying for its proximity to 9 11. Typical Hilton horrible coffee!! Had to chase down help with luggage. Very loud elevators and A/C, heat.... to the point where it affected sleep. The suite wasn't so sweet. If you want to see the 9 11 site and memorial its perfect. Just buy tickets to the museum ahead of time, it was incredible...if not staying to see the area find another hotel. Collapse
Great location and views

Great location if you need to go to the Financial District. They have a small heated indoor pool for laps which is nice. The restaurant is a bit depressing. Breakfast is very average; dinner you can skip.

What a wonderful staff and hotel! We were upgraded at check in.. nice surprise! We stayed here when we visited the 9/11 museum and the Freedom tower.. perfect location. Actually love downtown better than midtown. Great places to eat all around.. without the Times Square prices. Will definitely be back, even when we are visiting Mid Town.. worth the drive down to the Millenium for the night. Collapse
