Stayed here Jan 4-10, in a Junior Suite and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.. It's true what they say about the cost of room service but that is hotel living... nothing unusual really when it comes to room service anywhere. Once again as in other Hiltons I've visited, the refreshment bar is the most reasonably priced I've seen anywhere. It's also true that the rooms are seemingly old style given the age of the renovations that occurred in 2003-5, but I liked it anyway.. felt very at home the entire time. I was raised in Manhattan, although I am a Canadian and now that I am retired I was looking for somewhere to stay in Manhattan that would feel like home on my many future visits... and this is it.. Although I grew up in the West 80's... this is a lovely modern area of Manhattan... beautiful waterfronts, original NYC history, an amazing recovery for the World Trade Center area, and the hub of all transportation now for Manhattan and surrounding areas. I only hope it doesn't become so successfully touristy that the weekend rates skyrocket beyond my affordability.. Thank you to the management that got me the refrigerator within 10 minutes of request and the lovely cleaning woman who made sure my unit was spotless each day... Oh and also thank you to all the wonderful New Yorkers... I have never met anywhere I've traveled such friendly and helpful people... it was just amazing. Collapse

For a downtown Manhattan hotel that's well located to a range of transportation options, the Millenium Hilton New York is a good choice. In addition to several subway lines being a few steps away, the hotel is located a couple of minutes walk from the 9/11 memorial. My room was on a high floor facing the memorial site with glimpses of the memorial itself. It was a large room (very large by New York standards) with a very comfortable king size bed. There was plenty of space for luggage and to spread everything out. The bathroom was also spacious with a shower/tub combo and the usual Peter Thomas Roth amenities. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet each morning. The quality was very good and the service fine. The bell desk was always staffed. The service provided was adequate: nothing special but not bad. I was able to store my luggage without issue. For transportation from JFK airport I took the NYC AIrporter (shuttle service) to Grand Central Terminal for $18. From there I took the A train for a couple of dollars from Grand Central to the Fulton St station. The hotel is just a block away. Collapse

I stay at this hotel regularly for business. Great hotel, friendly staff, nice size rooms (for NY), and very convenient. It's right across the street from the 9/11 Memorial. Many of the rooms overlook the Oculus and I don't particularly like that side due to that view (it is beautiful and moving but I do not like the emotions it evokes), but I have requested the rooms on the other side with no problems. We booked a suite on the 54th floor of this hotel. Within the suite we had a living room (with dining table and sofa seating area); a bedroom with ensuite; and a separate toilet off the living area. The suite was across an entire side of the hotel, with large windows overlooking lower Manhattan. From the bedroom window we had a clear view of the iconic Freedom Tower of the One World Trade Center, one of only a few buildings in the immediate area taller than the hotel. The stunning views from all windows left us utterly spoilt for choice. Wifi and breakfast were included in the price when we booked. Upon arrival a helpful lady at reception issued us with small tickets for the breakfast which we were able to redeem the following morning. The service we received was - on the whole - very good. When we first arrived our suite didn't have duvet covers for the two sofa beds in the living room area. The heating system required harder presses on the buttons to operate it than seemed natural. These issues were resolved with a simple phone call to the reception. We also ordered room service with quite a specific request for cocktails and desserts. The gentleman on the phone was very helpful and got us exactly what we had asked for. The following morning we had plans after checkout before we were due to leave for the airport. The hotel has a facility for bag storage so that after checkout (12:00pm), you can explore the city for some time before returning to collect your bags ahead of travelling to the airport. To summarise: excellent hotel rooms with stunning views, very good service, high prices. Collapse

I was there last weekend with my wife, I am a Hilton Gold member, which means means nothing given that I brought up an issue and the staff did absolutely nothing. Some drunk/wasted guy got to his room next to ours at 2:45am banging his room door repeatedly going in and out, walking in the hall way in his underwear, and slamming the dresser draws. I tolerated it for 1 hour, and then I decided to call the front desk...the phone rang about 20 times, there was no answer. finally that noise stopped at 4am. During all of this we saw thru the peep hole a hilton employee walk the hallway at 3am, but then left, so obvioulsy they knew. The next morning I went to speak the one of the managers, to explain what happened, and he said he was not aware of anything, and would speak to the night staff and get back to me, which he never did.
