I hate this hotel so much. Everything is always broken (water doesn't drain in shower, shower is hard to use, closet doors don't close fully, etc) and the front desk staff act like you are annoying them. You can't even get a soda for breakfast. The rooms are dark, dingy, and desperately need a makeover. Sheets are rough and worn. Sometimes A/C or heat doesn't work at all. I stay here only because it is two blocks from where I have to work, and I'm here 6 nights a month on average. This hotel makes me hate travel. Collapse

Lovely large room with three windows overlooking Manhattan (very rare in NYC!). The room was lovely and clean, and we couldn't fault it at all! The bed was super comfy and had plenty of pillows. Light up wardrobe with full length mirror in, along with a safe that was easy to set up. The bathroom had a bath and shower, and was a very good size. The TV was a decent size as well, one of the largest I've had in a hotel room. It also had a coffee machine, and being a massive fan of coffee I really appreciated this! Desk was a good size and there was a chest of drawers and bedside tables, so we weren't short of storage space. Along with this we had two large suitcases tucked to one side and they never got in the way (that's hot spacious it was!). Plenty of lights/lamps and a nice comfy chair. Everything you could want in a hotel room! The room, even though facing the main road, was quiet and we weren't disturbed by the street noise at all. Lift to the room was reliable and a decent size as well. Whilst over in NYC myself and my partner was getting married, and I had arranged a specialist dry cleaner to collect my wedding dress. I left it with the reception staff and I felt happy knowing it was in safe hands. They let me know it had been collected ok and then the following day the dry cleaners returned it and they looked after it for me at reception again, again I knew it was in safe hands. Also, my partner had his suit steamed/pressed by the hotel and they did an excellent job and the price was amazing... $22 for a three piece suit - amazing!!! Great service! On the day of our wedding (on our last day! We planned the holiday before deciding to get married whilst in NYC) we checked out at 12pm and they organised a taxi for us to take us to city hall, as well as booking out taxi for our journey to the airport later that evening. We left all our luggage at the hotel while we got married. And again, felt good knowing it was in safe hands. We had a receipt for our luggage with a unique number on that was also stuck on our luggage so it couldn't get mixed up. After we had got married we returned to the hotel and they kindly let me use their leisure changing rooms to get out of my wedding dress and for my husband to get out of his suit. They then helped us put them away in our suit cases and then put the luggage back into the storage room so we could go for a meal. I can't praise the staff at the Hilton Manhattan east enough! Every single person was genuinely interested in making our stay the best it could be. They took so much of the stress out of our wedding day (looking after the luggage, arranging transport, letting me use their facilities to change etc) and I will always be thankful! Truly amazing staff, and a wonderful hotel! I would stay here again in a heartbeat! The hotel was about a 20min walk to Times Square, and it really wasn't far away from anything! I liked that it was that "far away" as it meant the room wasn't disturbed by outside noise, being closer to Times Square would mean A LOT more noise pollution! I walked from the hotel (2nd avenue) to the intrepid museum (12th avenue - actually it was on the Hudson River) and that only took 35-40mins (and I'm a slow walker) so literally from one side of Manhattan to the other, and it wasn't difficult and didn't feel THAT far. I walked everywhere as I didn't want to miss out on the joys of Manhattan by getting everywhere by subway, and I never felt the hotel was out of the way for this. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and wild recommend it to anyone who visits Manhattan! Collapse

Every time we plan to visit NYC, I check out this hotel and always stay here when they have availability. Celebrated my birthday weekend in the city and the front desk upgraded my room to a balcony with the best view of the city
