We revisited the Hilton this year after being here 2 years ago and it was great to be back. The hotel and the rooms within had been through a refurbishment, so it was good to see how the hotel had been transformed. The Hotel and Service. We found the hotel staff as helpful as usual from the front desk staff during check in to the service we received around the hotel. A special shout out to the Room Service staff who were friendly and very helpful (especially Stella). Room We had book 2 rooms as we are a family of 4 (2 teenagers) as we wanted to allow the kids to have their own room and have adjoining rooms. Being Diamond members we had been upgraded to the executive floor which was great and also we had our adjoining rooms. The room offers amazing sea views and also was very spacious. There was a minibar fringe in the room with room for personal items which was useful to store medication, ideally would have been better to have a separate personal fridge. The Pool. The pool area was busy as per usual as this was the summer holidays and a busy period. Even with it being busy we managed to get space for ourselves and it was also nice to at times getting away to the adult pool. Restaurants We had breakfast in the Oceana restaurant where being Diamond members the breakfast was included. The restaurant has been refurbished since our last visit and there was an amazing amount of food to choose from. I would recommend the omelets station which was my go to spot every morning with some amazing omelets made. There was also some local breakfast items available. I would also recommend getting to breakfast early (before 9AM) as there can be queues from 9AM and I would then recommend going to the Executive lounge for breakfast if you want it later and you have access to the Lounge. Noting that there is less choice within the lounge. Executive Lounge The Lounge is great as it offers great views from the balcony of the ocean and also the pool area below. There is a continental breakfast available in the morning and after 3PM there is canapés available with drinks available all day. Also note that there is a no beachwear policy in place so you will need to go back to your room to get changed but we found this policy was not consistently enforced, I would recommend that they change this policy to be enforced after 6PM and not during the day as this works well from our previous experience at other resort hotels we have stayed at. Some tips - Car parking is available and its free. Note that we did not have a car this year as we found it easier to get around with buses and taxis. - We used the local buses to get around where we purchased a 7 day pass which was cheaper and also allowed us to get into town in the evening when it was cooler. - The hotel has access to the beach which is rocky but the sea around is very clear and great for snorkeling. - There is a local food store (Arkadia) which has UK Waitrose products in it. You can stock up on snacks and sandwiches from here. - There are a number of local restaurants around the Portomoso Marina, so you are spoilt for choice for food. You can also walk to the main St Julian area where you will see even more restaurants and bars to choose from. Collapse

We have visited this hotel 8 times and it never fails to impress. The renovations were brilliantly done last year and the staff are as caring and attentive as ever. Be careful on your room allocation though as some views are better than others. The Executive Lounge is quieter than the main restaurant, although if you are after choice, the latter is better. We spent one dinner at Oceana and were blown away by the choice and quality. We had not visited Blue Elephant for some years and were equally impressed. If you are on a tighter budget, there are plenty of local restaurants nearby. There is so much choice on where to go during the day - despite people feeling the need to put their towels out early in the morning, there really is no need as there are always plenty of sun loungers, even in the middle of August. Even when things don't quite go right, and of course there are moments like this during the peak season in August, the staff are lightening quick to make sure everything is put right again. We couldn't ask for a better or more relaxing holiday! Collapse

We stayed here in July 2017 as a family with three teenagers. Overall the hotel is lovely, being modern and clean with lots of space and a good ambience. The staff are all very friendly and helpful; those in the restaurant were particularly good and keen to impress, although this is a Hilton so is to be expected. Food was plentiful with lots of variety and themed nights with different food (e.g. surf and turf night, Asian, Mediterranean, etc.). It really suited our five different palates and we never went hungry. There is the option to eat on the terrace for breakfast and dinner and we took this all the time; coming from cold, wet UK, we were keen to take advantage. Oddly many people choose to eat inside. You have the choice of eating in the Blue Elephant restaurant with a contribution towards the cost of meals. Three of our party did this one night and found it to be very good, but it did take a while to find out what the deal was. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. Floors 1 and 2 are below reception level at the back of the hotel overlooking a marina with some lovely yachts. We used the indoor pool a couple of times in the early afternoon when it was too hot to be outside. This pool, along with the sauna and steam room, was under used so was great to keep the water fun going without getting burnt. My wife did some of the exercise classes which she found very good. We played tennis a couple of times but you have to get there early to beat the heat (7am). Outside there are four pools Collapse

I stayed for 5 nights at the Hilton Malta. It is a fabulous hotel. My room had a beautiful view over looking a charming marina. Breakfast is served in a massive restaurant beside their amazing pool area. I would never get tired of waking up to that environment. There is a gorgeous piano bar situated upstairs, very classy with a lovely balcony area. The Blue Elephant is a wonderfully decorated Thai restaurant on the ground floor of the Hotel, it's definitely worth a visit. The staff were a little slow, but I found this all over Malta, perhaps its more laid back then lazy, so just remember to give yourself plenty of time to order drinks etc. But overall I had a lovely holiday at the Hilton Malta.
