OMG! The Hilton Inn at Penn is definitely one of the BEST hotels in Philly!!! The customer service is SUPERB!!!! At check-in (while my husband was parking), I was welcomed by a friendly and warm Front Desk Clerk named Jovan. She made me feel like a family member! Her greeting set the stage for the rest of our time there. I received periodic text messages asking if our room met our needs and to let them know if we needed anything. One day, we requested some additional towels from the Room Attendant when we were heading out and because we had the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, the fresh towels were left hanging on our door in a large drawstring plastic bag. In other hotels, the staff will usually leave the towels in the room in spite of the sign on the door. We thought that was very considerate! On another day as my husband was preparing to take a walk to a nearby venue, he stopped by the concierge desk to make some inquiries. The concierge, Krystal, offered him an umbrella since rain was in the forecast (although it wasn’t raining at that time). It started pouring down as he was walking back to the hotel so the umbrella certainly came in handy! We’ve never received an offer for an umbrella at any other hotel we’ve been to and we travel A LOT!!! Very considerate and impressive!!! The location of the hotel is convenient and in walking distance to the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, shopping, restaurants, and public transportation. The hotel does offer valet parking for a steep fee, but the fee is comparable to other hotels in the area. The rooms are very spacious, modern and it is obvious that a great deal of thought was put into them. For example, when you enter the room, a light automatically comes on. This prevents you from having to fumble around looking for the light switch. There are several lights to choose from in the bathroom, including a night light on the vanity mirror. For those like me who find it difficult to get back to sleep after being exposed to a bright light, this nightlight is perfect! It provides just enough illumination to see your way in the bathroom without stimulating the brain enough to keep you awake. That alone was a bonus for me!!! But there's more! • The room was very quiet and clean; • The TV is a decent size for the room; • the bed is extremely comfortable; • the closet is quite large and has a full length mirror inside the closet door; • the shower is huge and has two shower heads (one is a sprayer); • there is a hamper in the bathroom for dirty towels, wash cloths, etc.; • the trash cans also have a section for recyclable items; • a refrigerator and safe are available for your convenience; • an iPad mini is on one of the nightstands, which allows you to set two alarms, listen to a variety of music, and check the weather, just to name a few; • the drawers in the credenza are very deep and spacious; • the window is large and has a sun-blocking shade that allows you to still see outside; • the desk is a good size; and • there are numerous outlets, USB ports and other digital hookups available. The hallways on the floors are beautifully designed and very wide, and the elevator areas on the lobby and on the room floors are the largest I’ve ever seen in any hotel. Usually, the elevator area on the floors is cramped and hallways are narrow. Not so at this hotel! While there are only two elevators from the lobby to the individual floors, they move very swiftly and we hardly had to wait for one. On the lobby level is a huge library/sitting/reading room, which is very comfortable and quaint. I spent some time reading and relaxing in there. There is an onsite restaurant, but we didn’t get a chance to try it. I must also add that the room rate was exceptionally reasonable considering all of the amenities! The only con overall is the $43 overnight parking fee. My husband is from Philadelphia, is a graduate of Drexel and Penn, and has a lot of family and friends in Philly so we visit there at least once a year. However, this was the first time we stayed at this hotel. All of the other hotels we’ve visited over the years pale in comparison to The Inn at Penn. Therefore, we will be staying here again for all of our Philly trips going forward! We have not stopped talking about it since we’ve returned home and are already planning another trip in the not too distant future! Hilton, you certainly outdid yourselves with this establishment!!! Thank you for a wonderful and memorable experience! Wow!!! Collapse

We were looking for a hotel (at the last minute) near Univ of Penn. We were able to get a room at a decent rate. We didn't have very big expectations when we walked in. But, we were extremely impressed with the hotel. The room was awesome. Great breakfast and most of all, the staff was genuinely interested in the comfort of our stay. Right from the car valet to checkin person to breakfast staff to bell desk, they were all super friendly. Will definitely stay there again if we needed to go there. Collapse
