This Hilton was so lovely, I had a great stay. The staff at reception were ever so friendly and helpful making many great suggestions such as where to eat good Finnish food in town for lunch and they made some great suggestions when I went to Tallinn regarding food and what to see. The room was absolutely spotless and shiny and clean and the view over the sea was a lovely. The water was frozen and there was a man ice fishing each morning. The bed was so cosy but the duvet was too thin I kept getting cold :( The facilities were really good - the gym was really well equipped and clean and there are really nice saunas. The pool was tiny though which was quite funny i.e. you can do about 3 or 4 strokes before having to turn, it's a lot smaller than it looked from the pictures. It would have been nice to have a couple of loungers around the pool, there sadly aren't any. The food at Bro restaurant is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS and there's a cute little fire in the lobby. The bar looked very good like it did good cocktails but I didn't try any drinks so can't really judge. Really recommend this place. It's so close to walk anywhere you want to go in the town. Collapse
Normal Hilton standards but with some faults

Staying at a decent quality hotel and paying the price, you do expect a certain degree of service and quality. Arriving at the hotel with a number of bags it became necessary for me to borrow the porters trolly, load it with the bags off the pavement, take it to reception, check in, the take the trolly to the room, empty it, and return the trolly. In all my years of staying in hotels I had thought that was the porters job. No apology, no offer of help, no leave it we will bring up the luggage shortly. Unable to turn off a light in the bathroom, could not be bothered trying to find out how, as the staff seemed very preoccupied. Executive lounge not manned at all times, so problems getting replacement drinks, soda etc. Certainly not the best Hilton I have ever stayed in Collapse

I didnt have a hotel booked in Helsinki but asked the taxi driver at the cruise terminal to take me to the hilton. I arrived relatively early (around 10am) without a reservation and they were able to book me and provide a room immediately. The front desk staff was very helpful and gave us some good tour pointers and we hadn't done much research. The city is walkable from the hilton and the hotel was modern and very comfortable. My only complaint was that the executive lounge ran out of food very quickly, often without us having much choice and wasnt refilled. Also there was limited food options in the immediate area for us and we ended up at an italian restaurant 10 minutes away and got ice cream at mcdonalds. I was happy with my stay here. Collapse

I just came back from visiting my daughter who currently lives in Helsinki while getting her Masters Degree and I have to rave about the Hilton Helsinki Strand. I had previously booked this Hilton for my daughter when she was apartment hunting this summer and also for my husband when he helped her set up her apartment a month later. Both had been very pleased with the Hilton so it was my first choice when booking for my visit. My first visit was from February 28 through March 3 3017 with my cousin which was fantastic as we had a lovely Executive Twin Room with a great view of the sea from our windows. Everything was great and we loved the server and chef, Rosie, at the breakfast restaurant. We couldn't have asked for more. My daughter and I returned on March 12, 2017 for another few days before I had to return to home. Once again, we were not disappointed. At check-in we were kindly helped by Petri the assistant manager, who was very pleasant and professional. There was a slight problem with the room that we were given so he immediately resolved the problem and put us in the Presidential Suite which was fabulous. This was totally unnecessary and went above and beyond our expectations. Petri is obviously a huge asset to the Hilton Helsinki Strand. This suite is on the eighth floor with an incredible balcony with city and sea views as well as a modern/comfy interior. It was not over the top...just very comfortable. The next morning we were having breakfast in the restaurant when Chef Rosie stopped by our table as she remembered us from our first part of our stay. We had run into each other at the airport on our way to Prague and she came over to say hello. Talk about a wonderful ambassador for Hilton. I will always remember her kindness. Once again another great part of our experience at the Hilton Helsinki Strand. Upon checking out I was fortunate to have Petri help me. When he asked when we would be returning I didn't hesitate to say that I would be booking a stay for my husband in July and that the whole family would be returning the next year. This will be our only hotel choice in the future...no need to look anywhere else! Collapse

We had a great stay at the Hilton Strand in Helsinki. On our way to Lapland we also had a stop over in Helsinki and stayed at another hotel (Scandic park) but the Hilton was much much better, well worth the extra money. Friendly staff, very nice rooms, great beds, clean pool (very cool with the aquarium attached to it) and fantastic breakfast. I'd stay here again with my family. Collapse
