I choose this hotel because it is out of town and was said to be quiet and peaceful. We got there from the airport using the Finnair bus ( bus stop 10 just outside the departure door in Terminal 3). We got off at the railway station crossed the street, turned right up the hill and caught the number 4 tram to the end of the line . once off the tram walk ahead and take the first right up the hill ( 5 minutes walk). We had a room 506 in the sea view part of the hotel which is an essential part of a relaxing stay. The view was stunning and keep us enchanted over the next few days as the weather changed. We saw a magnificent firework display and a soft pastel sunset. The room was spacious and spotless. The bed a little too hard and the pillows a little too soft but not uncomfortable. A eye level safe, iron, hairdryer in the bathroom, kettle with coffee and tea making facilities ( not thankfully the ubiquitous n espresso machine). No cotton wool pads or ear buds which seemed odd and the toiletries are in really small bottles. We used the swimming pool but found it rather chilly and didn't understand why it wasn't open for guests between 10 am and 5 pm? There is a tunnel for guests that connects the parts of the hotel which means those wishing to use the pool do not have go pass thru reception. The saunas are segregated for men and woman. The gym was well equipped with state of the art machines and everywhere was spotless. Breakfast was really good with a huge variety of choices and everything was available no matter the time one arrived. We ate at the restaurant the first night for convenience while we got our bearings but it was very busy and the food was not warm enough.Although staff were polite and apologised for the delay, we didn't eat there again. One major niggle is the lights in the room; the bathroom light cannot be turned on independently of the main light so a wee in the night means risking waking up your partner. We had a really lovely stay and found all the staff to be polite and helpful especially Anton on the front desk. Highly recommended if you do not mind the tram ride in to town ( always run on time , are clean and not overcrowded). Collapse

We were there one night all the family (3 kids) and the treatment was perfect! Kids enjoyed sauna/swimming pool in the evening and morning after (pool not big but both the times not crowded at all) , room were really huge and comfortable (also the one with 3 beds). They gave us the possibility to get the rooms on the seaside paying a little more and the view on the bay was really amazing! They gave us a little "welcome" wine bottle. Breakfast was incredibly good and offered salted and sweet very largely , just too much to eat (very good espresso and cappuccino...) . I also appreciated that even though it's a high level and very fancy hotel, they don't treat you in a "snobby " way at all... Munkkiniemi (where the hotel is located) is one of the area I love the most in Helsinki:quiet and with incredibly beautiful architectures (both Alvar Aalto's atelier and house are very close and open to visit). One night here is not enough. Every time I come to Finland ( for work once a year usually) I really should try and stay longer. The hotel is a big and probably starting to show its age sort of Hilton, but it does have location on its side. Slightly on the outskirts of town, you need to take a nearby tram (easy) or a taxi to get into the city but it's no drama. The rooms are a good size and if you are lucky enough to get one with a water view, in winter, it's happy days! Ocean frozen over is a beautiful thing for someone not used to it! Great beds, nice linen, all the usual Hilton accompaniments. had a drink at the bar before dinner, and tried a Napue Gin and tonic, barman served it with rosemary and frozen cranberries and it was incredible, had to buy a bottle at duty free on the way out. Dining, I had room service for dinner, their salmon soup is a thing of beauty, I would have bought a bucket of it to take home if they were selling it. Breakfast, in the restaurant, excellent, range, presentation, and service. All in all, highly recommend this hotel, even if I can't pronounce its name! Collapse

Great hotel outside of the city center - great for exploring the city and surroundings. The Hotel is split into two sections. Rooms are great and everything just works. Breakfast is very, very expensive at EUR27 but offers a really good choice of local specialities and variety. Try to get a room at the section facing the lake (level 1-5) - the two other levels (l6-7) are in the second section up the hill with no view. Restaurant is good and offers great seasonal dishes.
