Arrived into Vantaa tired, jet-lagged, and weary as a family of 3. It was downright refreshing to walk into this property at 1:30 am. The front desk agent couldn't have been more pleasant and efficient. We were upgraded to an Executive level room with lounge access which was fantastic. We were in our room and in bed within 7 minutes of walking through the front door. Our room looked brand new, it was exceptionally well appointed, laid out sensibly, and was huge. Though we were only in the property for about 12 hours, it was a perfect start to our stay in Helsinki. Cannot recommend this property enough, probably the best airport hotel we've ever visited. Excellent value for money! Collapse

This year, it started all wrong, with the reservation that I made through a phone call to the hotel directly. It usually works fine, but not this time. The reservation personnel was apparently unavailable by then, so I talked to the front desk supervisor. I was told that with my specific travel schedule I probably would be better off making the advance purchase, and not for the day rate that I requested with later check out, but for the night stay. It would be 95 Euros. Otherwise, my request to check out around 9 pm the same day would cost me around 120 Euros. I explained that I check in around 4 pm , and I need to check out around 9 pm the same day due to my second overnight international flight. My explanations didn't result in any understanding or friendly response from the supervisor who said firmly that they are also short-staffed for the night-time clean up of the rooms that ends at 9 pm. (They actually work till 10 pm, I was subsequently told by the hotel staff). OK, I didn't have much choice, it seemed, so I made the Honors Advance Purchase. Then I received an e-mail from some hotel employee who started the message with 'Hi!' and ended with 'Welcome!', with an offer in between to pay for this purchase right away, a month and a half in advance, that is. (The rate is not subject to any cancellation, by the way). The offer was declined. They eventually charged me three days before my arrival. OK again. What did Hilton Helsinki offer for this 'special'? The room key didn't work in the elevator, the room was very far from the latter, I had to literally crawl through multiple dirty trays on the floor, with the food left-overs on those, the room itself was far from being clean (please, have a look at photos, if you will), with stains, not working floor lamp, with a very particular look of the bed cover where someone sat on prior to me (that bed cover was also much smaller than the blanket that was supposed to fit in it), and yes, with a very questionable design and layout of the bathroom that borders on some reality TV low-rated show. As planned, I checked out after 5 hours of staying in this room. It cost me the advanced payment of 95 Euros. I've been the Hilton Honors participant for almost 20 years, and I always received a much warmer welcome in Hilton Hotels around the world. Hilton Honors representative on the phone was very sympathetic listening to me, and offered double points for my stays in this hotel (I actually stayed twice in this Hilton, within a month). I didn't ask for those points, but let her know about my reservation experience described above. I sure hope that Hilton Helsinki can do a better job in welcoming its regular customers. Usually they do. But in different latitudes. Collapse

I have stayed at a couple of Hiltons recently and they both suffered design problems in their rooms. In this one when you went to the toilet/bathroom and turned the light on it also lit lights in the room thus waking anyone else trying to sleep there. Both had the same problem with the toilet not flushing properly. It seems that Hilton don't check these things when fitting their hotels which I find very strange. Otherwise I was happy enough with my stay. The breakfast was much better this time compared to my previous visit and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Collapse

Had to book this since we were arriving late into Helsinki and departing early. Due to the proximity of the airport, booked this hotel but it was extremely expensive, even for an airport hotel. It is about 5-10 minutes walk and is well sign posted as you come out the arrivals area. You need to walk for a while and then take a set of stairs or a single lift up one lvel, through the car park area under a covered walkway to get to the hotel. You can take a baggage trolley from the airport and there is an area to leave it near the check in area. Rooms were ok but on the smaller side. The room was quiet despite the airport being next door. If the price was a bit more better, would recommend this place since location wise, it is perfect for the airport. Collapse
