My wife, my son and I stayed at the Garden Inn Tribeca for the recent Presidents long weekend. We had an excellent time and will likely return. I found the staff extremely helpful with all questions and the general atmosphere that the desk staff, operations and bell/concierge create is most welcoming. The room is clean and spacious for NYC and the amenities are exactly what we needed as we spent a lot of time out in the City. This site is an excellent location to walk almost anywhere to downtown and the villages. The nearby subway entrance makes midtown and uptown convenient. Overall a great friendly pace at this Inn. I must add that we checked out and went to the World Trade, but left our car at the hotel. We came back about 2 hours later to leave and my son realized he left almost a whole pizza in the room (from staff recommended "Saluggi's" across the street- he ordered an extra it was so good-), I went the front desk expecting it long gone and Mark @ the desk checked upstairs and Mike ran up to retrieve the pizza. Very happy. This is an example of the personable and helpful staff during our stay who went above and beyond the typical. Collapse

Friendly Staff, But Beds are Unbearable

Overall, our check-in was a breeze and the rooms were ready much earlier than anticipated. The location of the hotel was the main reason we chose it, as myself and a co-worker were there for a work trip. We ended up having to leave two days earlier than expected due to bad weather in the city, and the hotel compensated us for the night that we checked out and the remainder of our scheduled stay. Can't say enough about how nice the staff was. The only downfall of this hotel was the bed and the timeliness of the servicing of the rooms. I can typically sleep anywhere and have no issues - car, plane, floor, etc. With that said, I woke up every morning with aches and pains in my back, and tossed and turned all night because of the quality of the mattress in my room. It really does take a lot for me to complain, so I feel like this is worth noting since it was unbearable for me. My co-worker had the same complaint about her bed after our first night stay as well. Aside from the beds, two days in a row I had left my room before 7am and returned after 5pm and the room still had yet to be cleaned/serviced. I saw the cleaning lady on the second day and asked and she was aware and went right over to my room to clean it while I left for dinner, so no complaints on her attentiveness or friendliness. But that was just my first stay where the rooms repeatedly were not cleaned until much later in the day. Replace the mattresses and I'd definitely stay at this hotel again in the future. Collapse

I was in NYC with my husband for a combo business/pleasure trip in mid-February. The Garden Inn offered a generously-sized king room that was much roomier than many Manhattan hotel rooms and, better yet, a very short walk to the Canal St. A/C subway line. That came in very handy on Thursday when we had 8 inches of snow and bitterly cold weather at night. The attached restaurant offers a nice breakfast, with made-to-order omelettes available, for a reasonable NYC price of $16. The service is extremely attentive, if not well coordinated (we'd be asked by separate waiters for coffee, omelette and drink orders). Service at the hotel is friendly, and Soho/Tribeca, with great restaurants, is right outside the door. Collapse

I traveled here on business in January. When I checked in, I presented the front desk with a Tax Exempt form, which they accepted (I work for the State of NY). Upon return, my employer identified that I had been charged taxes on my hotel. My secretary has been diligent in trying to get this hotel to refund the taxes on my bill, but the front desk and accounting staff at the hotel REFUSE TO REFUND even though I presented the appropriate documents and THESE DOCUMENTS WERE ACCEPTED. Instead, they've 'refunded' meals I paid on my personal credit card--which we did not ask for. I WORK FOR A TAX EXEMPT ORGANIZATION, THE HOTEL ACCEPTED THE TAX EXEMPT PAPERWORK AND NOW WON'T REFUND THE TAX THEY INAPPROPRIATELY CHARGED. It seems to me they don't know what they're doing.
