My wife and I traveled here for vacation. We weren't sure which Hilton to say in while in Budapest. We were using HHonors points for our stay...and I'm SUPER glad we picked this location!! The check in was very easy and the staff was helpful and friendly (more on that later). They allowed me to temporarily park our rental car in the front of the hotel while checking in and taking luggage to the room. We got an upgrade because of my Diamond status. Executive Lounge was plentiful with heavy Hors d'oeuvre, wine and beer. They have a concierge onsite to give you pointers and tips for sightseeing in the city. (Have a seat by the window to overlook the city and the old church!) If you don't want to pay for parking at the Hilton, you can drop off your luggage and exit the castle district (which gives you 30 minutes free parking). Just outside the district, you can find street parking that you can pay by the hour. I think the "pay to park" time ends at 6 p.m. and begins around 7 a.m. Much cheaper! Walk from the hotel to the Batthyány tér Metro station to by a 24 hour pass on the public transportation (less than $6). The number 16 bus runs to/from the hotel to locations all over the city. Suggestion...just get on the public transportation...and just GO! Ride it around...hop on and hop off to see sites. FOR SURE...take the M1 subway towards Mexikói út and get off at Széchenyi fürdő (beautiful park!). The M1 is the oldest subway in Budapest...and it is really cool. Looks like you stepped back into the 1930's Back to the hotel: The staff really helped track down lost luggage that I was missing for two days (DELTA Airlines!). I think they must have made 30 phone calls to try to get an answer from the airlines. The area around the hotel will get pretty crowded during the day with tourists. Wait until the evening and enjoy the views from the castle towards Pest (remember...it's pronounced like: Pesht...not pest!). Collapse

I have just spent 4 nights at the Hilton and found it to be a nice and welcoming hotel. We were a party of 3 adults and on arrival found our room to be less than suitable, a twin room with a camp bed as a 3rd. When I questioned this with the hotel they informed me it was the standard room agreed with our holiday company, they did however accept it was not suitable for 3 adults and promptly moved us to a more spacious room, so, this was a problem with the holiday company that the Hilton kindly rectified. We stayed B&B and found the breakfast to be ample with sufficient variety. Some of the staff were a little cold and I found the concierge(s) especially abrupt, the staff in the breakfast room were more approachable. Drinks in the bar were also reasonably priced. The room we eventually had was fine although when we switched one of the lights on in the bath room one evening there was a big bang (hence the explosive experience!) and all the electrics went out, although rectified fairly quickly there was no further examination as to the cause which was a little worrying. We were woken around 07.30 each morning due to the ongoing refurbishment (knocking and drilling) but to be honest it wasn't really an issue. The location was good, directly in front of Fishermen's Bastion and next to Matyas Church and other attractions and it was approximately a 25/30 minute walk into Pest or Gellert Hill. Overall a nice stay at the hotel and I would certainly stay again. Collapse

Hilton Budapest is a very comfortable, clean, and inviting hotel. We were fortunate to stay in the remodeled wing of the hotel and we had a BEAUTIFUL view of the Danube, Parliament, and Fishermen's Bastion. The staff are very helpful and professional. They are not necessarily warm people, but they do their best to accommodate. They are very prompt in replying to email communications. Wonderful! We were coming off a Viking cruise, but our stay in Budapest Hilton was an independent stay, not part of the extension. I emailed the hotel concierge re. transportation to the hotel. However, he stated only limited options to the hotel from the Viking dock--all of them rather expensive involving Mercedes taxis, costing 35 euros or a regular taxi of 24 euros. The trip from Viking dock to hotel is rather short. I ended up asking our concierge on our ship to contact a taxi service. The cost? 10 euros or $11.00 U.S. Luckily, we contacted the same taxi service for our transport to the airport a few days later. The hotel concierge was kind enough to call them for us, and our journey to the airport cost 30 euros. Of course, public transportation is possible, but not a good option--bunch of stairs involved. Other than that, our stay was very pleasant. Restaurants are close by, but the food is uneven. Try Riso's outside the castle walls. Concierge is good at directions. Collapse

This hotel is situated in a fantastic location. Couldn't be better. Check in was smooth and we were allocated room 204. Sadly the room was not one of the refurbished rooms , it was however a large room with adequate facilities. The decor was a bit tired which was slightly disappointing. Beware of the mini bar prices, they are probably the most expensive items in a minibar I have ever seen. Breakfast was lovely, a great choice of hot and cold food with fantastic views from the dining area Bar prices are steep too. It's a nice hotel in a brilliant location. Just a pity about the tired room really. Staff were most welcoming and attentive. Couldn't fault them. Collapse

I am back home after a fantastic stay in Budapest booked with Jet2citybreaks. Buda over Pest every time for me - more cultured, historic and less commercialised. On holiday I wouldn't normally stay in a Hilton - too corporate and reminds me of my business travels....however Hilton Budapest in the Castle District was superb and I would thoroughly recommend. Fab views, service and above all the infamous Hilton Breakfast! We stayed in Room 304 and had a partial view of the river - lovely on a night. My stay was an early birthday treat and this was acknowlwged by the hotel with a bottle of sparkling wine delivered to our door minutes upon arriving - nice touch. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance, a Starbucks and a useful grocery store where we stocked up on paprika and bought hungarian wine and also bottled water. Thank you Hilton Team for your hospitality! Collapse
