I had an early morning flight, so stayed at the Boston Hilton, I've stayed here before so I knew it was an excellent hotel. My room was comfortable, it didn't have a microwave but there was one in the lobby so that was helpful. I grabbed the most delicious blueberry muffin in the lobby in the morning before jumping on the shuttle. Best muffin I've ever had. Collapse

I was dropped off at the hotel the afternoon before my 6AM departure to LA. I booked several months in advance and was able to secure a low rate. Check-in at the front desk was fast and I agreed to pay an extra 20.00 to upgrade to a corner room with a view of Boston Harbor. After reaching my room I discovered that the door to my room would not lock from the outside. A maid noticed my problem and made a call and said someone would be right up to fix the door. I went to the lobby while the door was being worked on and then returned to my room about 45 minutes later. There was a person there still working on the door. He suggested that since I had not unpacked that I consider moving to the corner room next door which had the same view. I agreeded and he called the front desk to notified them about the room change and also asked them to waive the 20.00 charge as compensation for my inconvenience. I must say I was very impressed by how each employee took ownership of my problem and found solutions that were acceptable to me. I had a very good room service dinner and checked out the next morning. It's possible to use walkways to get to the departure terminals but since I had too much luggage I decided to take the shuttle bus which operated every 15 minutes 24 hours a day. Collapse
This Hilton just charged us $500 extra pet fee; why do I still rate them a 4?

Normally after a bad travel experience I have an incurable urge to flame the offending service provider via TripAdvisor. After a long flight back to our primary home in Texas, however, I have reconsidered and now offer a more balanced perspective. It takes us 4 hours under normal circumstances to drive from our vacation home in northern Vermont to Boston Logan, but that quickly goes to 6+ in a snowstorm in the winter. We use Logan (vs. Burlington) because our dog does not like to change planes. More about the dog later. All this means either we schedule an afternoon flight, or we leave the house at 3 am to be sure we get there on time. So this year, for the first time, we decided to stay at the Hilton at Logan Airport with the strategy of breaking the trip into two parts with flex to handle delays—such as snowstorms that close Interstate 93 in New Hampshire. Arrive the night before the flight, return the rental car, have an early dinner, walk to the airport over the skybridge in the morning. My bottom line is that this is a brilliant strategy. This Hilton is not a five-star property, nor does it claim this status. However, for a very reasonable room rate it provides a clean and surprisingly quiet room with more than enough space to open up your luggage and do the proper packing job you should have done at home. Drop off the wife, dog and luggage; return the car to the new rental facility and wait just a few minutes for the Hilton Shuttle to pick you up. The restaurant in the lobby (called Connally’s Pub, for no particular reason) is busy but offers a reasonably broad menu of alternatives at a fair price point. Most hotels with a geographic monopoly offer less good food at much higher prices. The trip to Terminal A (Southwest) or Terminal E by foot via the skybridge is surprisingly easy, although the signage could be improved. Do a dry run the night before to build up your confidence and impress the spouse. It would take longer and require a lot more work to load your luggage onto the shuttle bus vs. using the skybridge. Our bottom line is that we will be using the Hilton in the future. Events not fully in the control of the industry have made the whole process of air travel totally unpleasant. Our advice is to break the trip up and then get through security early. By all means use TSA Pre and strategies such as staying at the airport as a way of reducing stomach acid. For extra credit, we now deal with the $500 “unaccompanied pet” surcharge. When my wife checked in (while I was returning the car), she signed a legal contract with lots of fine print that committed us to NOT LEAVING THE DOG in the room without adult human supervision. Naturally, she did not tell me she had signed this agreement, and when she wanted to go down to the lobby for a quick bite I assumed that our normally well-behaved hound would be fine for the 42 minutes we were away. But no, he barked and a number of complaints from other guests flowed to the front desk, resulting in the automatic $500 unaccompanied pet surcharge. I am told that much of this money was rebated to other hotel guests to offset their bother, as opposed to fattening the profits of the Hilton chain. Possibly true. We screwed up; our bad. Next time, we will take the dog to the lobby. One of us will go into the restaurant and get take out food, thereby avoiding the myriad problems of room service. We will return to our room and dine at our leisure, with nary a bark from the pup. As I told my wife, think of this as being a $750 a night suite. Once your eyes are closed, you won’t notice the difference. Collapse

I had an overnight stay here before an early flight. The check-in process was very smooth. The airport shuttle service is excellent. There were many people waiting for the shuttle at 5am, and the hotel put on an extra van to accommodate us all. The only criticism I had is that I stayed in a room that was in need to updating. I have stayed here several times before and the decor in those rooms was modern and recently updated. My room on this visit is hopefully on the refurbishment list as the decor was very old-fashioned.
