Great place to stay, though other guests on their phones in the halls at night occasionally made sleep difficult. It was very clean & staff extremely helpful. Overall, a very nice stay for business or leisure.

i admit to being loyal to Hiltons, and this one did not disappoint. great location, helpful staff, nice indoor pool and whirlpool, great executive lounge. offered a jr, suite upgrade on check-in but obviously the previous guest had illegally smoked in the room so it reeked of room freshener. i ended up with a regular room with no view on exec floor (Diamond member) but it was fine. excellent bathroom and bed and internet. keurig-style coffeemaker in room and housekeeping will give you extra decaf pods (otherwise decaf is completely absent in bucharest). Make sure you check for a concert or opera at Roman Anetheum across the street, and be SURE to go around the corner to a tiny eclair shop, French Revolution, to get at least one eclair (best eclairs in all of Europe, including France!). Metro is a few blocks away, 10 minute walk to old town. Make sure the hotel calls a taxi if needed--cabs just outside the hotel are not hotel-approved and WILL rip you off. Definitely the best hotel overall in Bucharest. I rated price as luxury but Bucharest is a very reasonably-priced city and the hotel is not overpriced. Collapse

I never like everything about a hotel, but the Athenee Palace may break this tradition. We stayed at the Athenee, in a suite, for three days and it is hard to find something bad to say about the place. The only down point may be that the rooms are a bit austere and could use a bit of a facelift, but they are also very large and everything works well. What distinguishes this hotel, however, is the standard of service which is exceptional. From the cleaners to the reception, to the concierge, we had first class service from arrival to departure. The breakfasts are extensive and of excellent quality, and the food in the in-house restaurants are of a high standard. Also, being located overlooking the (in)famous Revolution Square puts you right in the historic heart of Bucharest. Well worth they stay and we will be back. Collapse

we stayed here for 6 days. The receptionist upon arriving were wonderful. Lorena Loana was so helpful and helped us upgrade. Explained everything in the area and obviously is very proud of her role at the hotel and this shone through. The Hilton is a beautiful hotel and very central to all the main sights. We walked to the Opera, its next to the Anetheum where we managed to see a piano recital. The executive loung is relaxing and Mihai helped us every day. They have beautiful breakfasts and the most amazing afternoon teas and dinners. The spa and staff are also brilliant. The pool is not massive but it is perfectly adequate for a good swim. The steam room and the sauna were fabulous. Unfortunately didnt make a massage but only because there was so much to see in the City. We walked miles every day and visited so many lovely places including the parks. The opera was fabulous especially as it was so cheap. We visted Transylvania, wow what a beautiful area of Romania, enjoyed Peles and Bran castle, had a superb lunch at a huntsmans restaurant in the skiing area. We didnt go by tourist bus but went with a taxi company called Rideways, excellent driver, very accommodating and took us to some briliant unusual spots, for the 135 euros we felt this was even better value that the 79 eros charged by the tourist tours, we also went into Brasov. Long but very interesting day. We will definately be going back and we are even looking at buying a home here now, people are wonderful, despite reservations about safety Romania is full of very friendly, helpful welcoming people who re very proud of their country. If I had any small issue with the Hilton it would be the quality of the toilet paper, seriously poor and rather abrasive, if you get my drift! Collapse
Excellent Service and very comfortable.

We had booked a normal room with breakfast but were able to upgrade to an Executive Room for a reasonable extra cost. Then we realised that this also meant we had access to the Executive Lounge which not only provided breakfast but also non alcoholic drinks all day. The lady who served us (Lorena) was very friendly, polite and efficient in a way only those who truly love their job can be. We also choose to join up with their rewards scheme (no cost) and expect the benefits of this steadily accrue over the years. The upgrade was then made even more worth it when we realised that in the Executive Lounge food of one sort or another was available most of the time it was open (06:00 - 23:00). At 18:00 a warm meal was available and the complimentary alcoholic drinks were served until close. We certainly felt we more than saved the cost of the upgrade by using this. The staff in the Executive Lounge were all very friendly and polite. Mihai was a model in professional training and experience. Exceptionally good at his job and extremely friendly and helpful. Due to the almost perfect location of the hotel to all the sites we wanted of visit we were able to go back and forth to the hotel as we pleased. Whenever Lorena was on the desk she would invariably note our arrival and beam a smile, or wave, as appropriate. On one occasion we met in the lobby and learned that she was part of a management training program. My partner and I expect she will do well and wish her all the best for the future. We visited the Swimming Pool and hot tub on three of the 5 days we were there and also enjoyed the steam room and sauna. We didn't use the gym and we're disappointed we just didn't have time for a massage given the reasonable cost for them. The staff there were very pleasant. We understand that the rooms on the 5th floor will be updated next year and hope to go back once that has been done as they are starting to look slightly dated. If I had any real gripe it would be the quality of the loo roll and the coffee, seriously it was not bad, but if you want to pick holes... Would certainly say we had a great stay and the cost was great value for money. Collapse
