Location cannot be beat. Excellent breakfast and nicely furnished rooms with safety bars in showers and all the extras including high speed internet. But what makes this the number 1 choice for this 74 year old traveler is the extremely experienced concierges who direct you to the best restaurants and other advice. Ilya will do whatever it takes and Vlad is so well read and intelligent that you will look forward to sitting down to discuss the world situation, while he offers you complementary champagne. I can't understand why other hotel managers don't learn what makes the frequent traveler a repeat customer. Everyone else we met at breakfast during our 8 night stay had the same impression. Collapse

The history of the hotel is explained in the information pack in the room and is really interesting. The room which we were allocated looked out over the courtyard, in which were a few café style tables where one could order from the restaurant. It was not noisy. The room was a reasonable size, with a big comfy bed, safe, TV, nice bathroom, a couple of chairs and a small table. The room had bathrobes and slippers too. Our room was one of two behind an outer door to the corridor, which was propped open while we were there, but which could provide a family suite behind a single access point. The hotel staff's English was very good. The concierge was very welcoming and gave us information about local restaurants. He did of course recommend the hotel's two restaurants first, though we ate in neither as I am vegetarian, one had no vegetarian options the other only a mushroom risotto, which made neither restaurant welcoming for us. They could do better to offer a better range of non-meat options. The bar however was a good place to spend an hour resting with a beer after a hard day of sightseeing. As the rooms were accessed from the courtyard, and therefore there was no need to pass reception to get to them, one had to use one's key to access the stairs to the rooms, a good security feature. Wifi worked well in both the room and the bar. Breakfast offered a good range of options. We did eat in a Georgian restaurant directly opposite the hotel, we think newly opened as we couldn't find any reviews on it, but it was excellent and very reasonably priced. Cha Cha Puri (or Chu Chu Puri) I believe it was called. The hotel was only 10 minutes walk from the Moscow railway Station and, as we had a 07:00 train to catch, we were able to leave the hotel just before 06:30 and still have plenty of time. The hotel will provide breakfast at any time right through the night if you have to leave early; they give you a pre-order form and it is served in the restaurant, just ask at reception. We enjoyed our stay. Collapse

My wife and I stayed here in July for 6 nights and I feel privileged to have had this experience. The staff here made us feel like we were part of the family and we felt so welcome. The hotel itself is a beautiful deluxe hotel and offers a quiet sanctuary away from the busy NevskyProspekt yet it is so centrally located and within close proximity to the Metro and the wonderful shopping and dining experiences along Nevsky Prospekt, the main thoroughfare. The staff are wonderful and make every effort to ensure a memorable experience is had by every guest. They are, as a group, the kindest, friendliest, most respectful group I have ever met in a hotel and make ensure you feel welcome and SAFE. Full credit to the Management for their selection of such an amazing group of young people. The concierges, Alexander and Vladislav were very knowledgeable and Alexander even walked to a nearby jeweller to negotiate a price and ensure my wife's watch was fixed in quick time!! The often over-looked Housekeeping staff kept our room looking immaculate and the Front Office Staff were exceptional-Marina, Kristina, Anastasia, Ilya and another Alex. I would not hesitate recommending this hotel to anyone travelling to St. Petersburg. The hotel offers a bistro style restaurant as well if you do not feel like travelling far for a dining experience.
