Stayed here with group (not my hotel choice). Comfortable rooms and courteous staff. Location slightly off-centre, not a problem for bus-based tours, and reflected in prices. Breakfast OK and well organised. Two linked optional restaurant/bars, good atmosphere but at best mediocre food. My only and minor reproach for a hotel in the 3+ star bracket (with aspirations to 4+) is the practice of charging for mineral water after first two provided free on arrival. This is ridiculous given well-publicised problem with bugs like Giardia in city water-we paid maybe $20 for minibar water for a week that the hotel should just lose in the price. On the plus side, huge beds and nicely quiet (ask for room on inside courtyard, we got it acidentally. And ATM in lobby, which I understand many/most hotels have. Collapse

When our Road Scholar tour switched us to this boutique hotel, I did a happy dance. Based on other TA reviews and the hotel's website, I had a feeling this was going to be a great choice. It absolutely was! As a solo female traveler coming in a day ahead of my tour, I had some trepidation regarding getting from airport to hotel. No worries. Their concierge was quick and responsive to my email request to book their shuttle in advance. I was met by a driver in the arrivals terminal and taken by private car to the hotel. (Cost $31.00 USD which was billed to my room). Check in a breeze and I was immediately offered a refreshing drink and a map, in English, of the city. Although extra day was arranged separately from my tour they were able to keep me in the same room for all 6 nights. They also have a small, complimentary tea served from 4-6pm in the lobby. I loved the room with its very high ceilings. Beautifully appointed, comfortable bed, ample closet and storage space, safe, kettle with tea and coffee, wine glasses, a bathrobe (yes!) , blow dryer, heated towel rack, good quality amenities. The water pressure was strong, water hot. Limited English speaking channels - basically CNN and BBC news. Other little touches were the chocolates left at night on the nightstand with a card giving the next day's weather forecast. There was also a desk and a small coffee table. This room is definitely perfect for one person and spacious enough for 2. Only minor complaint was in controlling the heat in the room which was too warm for me (I suppose I could have asked for help on this but instead just slept with window open.) I think I had room 202 which overlooked the courtyard and was very quiet. I do not believe there was an elevator in this wing of the hotel as I always took the stairs. There are 2 restaurants directly adjacent to this hotel and accessible via the small courtyard. Our group received the breakfast buffet at the Marius which offered a small but nice selection of hot dishes, cold cuts and cheeses, cereals, pastries, and fruit. I had a solo dinner at the other restaurant The Claret and had a nicely prepared pasta carbonara. There is a 24 hour supermarket a block from the hotel and a 2 block walk to Nevsky Prospeckt, THE main street of St. Petersburg. Very safe to walk. Throw a stick, hit a museum, cafe, monument, theater, bank, or souvenir shop. For the timid American traveler, there is a Starbucks, McDonald's, Burger King, and KFC about 4 blocks from the hotel. It's a little under a 2 mile walk to the Neva and Hermitage and maybe a mile to the Church of the Spilled Blood. I would highly recommend this hotel. Collapse

This hotel has been such disappointment and it's spoiled my current stay in St. Petersburg. The rooms in the hotel are clean and well maintained, but.... first they book you in a single room with 2 persons which is already misleading. I didn't expect to stay in claustrophobic room in one bed with my colleagues... The room it's self is poorly designed. I'm keeping to bump my head against the lamp above my bed... To get to the shower is a different story... You have to be lean and young, otherwise please have a good health insurance. And then their breakfast, the coffee served for breakfast had only one common thing with real coffee, the color. Nothing else! Another disturbing thing, there are not enough places in their restaurant. You have to wait to be seated for some time or the stuff will send you to a different building to have your breakfast, which is a better option, but also this option not available every day. And another annoying details - to get from your room to the restaurant you have to go outside and cross the inner yard which is with the local weather not very pleasant experience. I will not return to this hotel ever. Look to a better place to stay. During My previous visit I have stayed in Angleterre and that was a wonderful stay. Collapse

A smallish hotel with a nice courtyard for the few days weather is pleasant and distance from the street. Two on sit restaurants, helpful English speaking staff. Located quite centrally if you are trying to do anything other than walk up and down the sights of Nevsky Prospect, 2 blocks from Nevsky, 2 blocks from Galleria mall, and 2 blocks from the commercial area east of Sobor Vladimirskoy (24 hour currency exchange). Very nice and comfortable- can arrange most anything a tourist would want, car, guides, event tickets, etc.. Collapse
