I only had two days to see as much of Barcelona as possible. I started off by getting one of the tour buses around the city which gave me the opportunity of earmarking the sites I wanted to see and of glancing at the others. The tour buses are really easy to find and for 26 euros you could hop on and off for two days. I went on a gondolina around the harbour which was a nice way to cool down and enjoy some of the coast again fairly good value at 10 euros for 1.5 hours. I found shopping just to tempting and set off to find my weakness shoes. If you go off the beaten track there are some excellant bargains to be had and don't forget to haggle it's expected. I would say my favourite thing was the Fat Tyre bike tour a four hour guided ride around the sites excellant value at 22 euros and great fun. Don't do it in the day though it would be far to hot. I recommend going on the 7pm tour when it is much cooler though those with children might find the 11pm end a little late. I would recommend Barcelona to anyone. If I had one critisism it would be that things can be a little expensive, if you pay with to larger a note for anything but particularly a meal change is very slow in coming or they just assume the change is the tip. Also keep a close eye on your bags/wallet/mobile phones etc if they are not secure you will lose them. However, I lost nothing and gained a lovely break. The world is a book those who do not travel read only one page (don't know who said it but it really is true). Collapse

We had a wonderful weekend break at the Montblanc - the staff were brilliant, the room excellent, location perfect, breakfast really good and had dinner in the restaurant twice too! Couldn't fault this hotel at all, lovely and clean, very welcoming - a great place for my 60th birthday - even had a bottle of bubbly delivered to the room by Management! Will stay here again without a shadow of a doubt Collapse

Stayed at this hotel for three nights before a Trans-Atlantic Cruise. Found it to be a great location for seeing Barcelona. Two blocks off the Ramblas, about a ten minute walk to Catalunaya Square. Lots of restaurants surrounding the site. Easy to take subway, taxis, buses and tours. The staff was very helpful in giving directions and recommendations. Asked what type of food you wanted and sent you in the right direction. We had gotten an hour delay on our checkout and then they allowed us to check our luggage for two more hours until we were ready to go to the ship. The common areas of the hotel were extremely clean and attractive. The lack of litter inside and outside the hotel was pleasing. The rooms were good sized and clean. They were not brand new but well maintained. We loved our stay in Barcelona. Just a point I want to make. The civil disagreement over succession in Barcelona did not affect us too much. We got caught up in a march with thousands of people on our way to our hotel. They were polite, well behaved and left no litter on the street. The Sagrada Familia was closed on the day we visited; surrounded by protesters and general strikers. We were able to walk around the entire structure without any interference to observe its facades. Don’t let this political event stop you from visiting. It is a wonderful city with wonderful people. Collapse

The hotel was booked as a package before our NCL cruise and reading some of the reviews beforehand was getting a bit concerned Set your expectations that this is a 3 star hotel so wouldn't expect concierge service tea and coffee making facilities are not the norm for European hotels washcloths[face cloths are only found in American chain hotels] There is obviously a big difference between rooms-we had an annexe room on 4th floor which had a walk in shower not bathtub which suited us better again very common for 2 twin beds pushed together to create king size bed[by European standards] so ridge in middle of bed-husband was very happy with this as stopped me encroaching on his side! We were facing apartments opposite and were so close felt we could have shaken hands with inhabitants and we could easily see into their living rooms so keep curtains closed if you want privacy However we had no issues with noise The hotel pool was closed and drained late October but within enclosed courtyard was pleasant enough weather to enjoy warmth and the sun loungers again Piano player due to play Friday and Saturday nights in would you believe the Piano lounge was not there in this off season The hotel restaurant opened 8pm which is usually late for us to eat-however we had travelled from UK so our body clocks were an hour behind we were the only ones in the restaurant but the half menu option of 2 course meal bread and a glass of wine was good value at 13.5 euro after the meal the bar was filling up with fellow NCL cruisers and prices reasonable with wine 3-4 euros per glass and bottled beer about 4 euros breakfast was included and a reasonable selection we were lucky that when we checked in around lunchtime on Saturday our rooms were ready and were able to shower and change-much appreciated all in all a good 3 star hotel Collapse

If you are looking for a hotel away from the noisy crowds but still close enough to to many popular destinations within Barcelona, the Montblanc is a good choice. Urquinaona metro station is just a stone’s throw away and the Aerobus from the airport will stop at Placa Catalunya close by as well. We were able to walk to places like the Gothic Quarter, Palau de la Musica, La Ramblas, Passeig de Gracia and even Sagrada Familiar is about a half hour’s walk. There are plenty of good eateries around and a small supermarket close by. Room size is average but it is a bit small if you need an extra bed. Cleanliness and daily maintenance was good and wifi was free if not really fast. We had rooms on a high floor and facing the back, so traffic noise was minimal. One gripe is that we only found one power socket available so be prepared. We opted for the buffet breakfast throughout our stay and although the menu barely changed over our almost a week’s stay, the selection was above average, especially the fruits on most days. Quality of the food was quite good. We didn’t require much help but staff were generally friendly and helpful. We did make some email enquires with them prior to going and they did reply promptly. Overall, we had several good comfortable nights at the Montblanc and can recommend it as good value. Collapse
