We booked a double room at Hartsfield Manor because we were attending a wedding...(booking was made 6 months in advance). We were a little concerned about some very negative trip advisor reviews but decided to keep an open mind. The exterior of the hotel is beautiful & very impressive, giving us high hopes for our stay... The reception/lobby area was reasonably nice but we did notice that some of the carpets were a bit stained & worn... Not a huge issue but made the place look a little tired... We were allocated room 15, which was in a convenient location in the main building & just a few steps away from the top of the stairs... Our first impression was that the room was a decent size... In one direction the view from the large window was really beautiful, in the other direction not quite as pretty but this wasn't an issue for us. The bathroom was ok, although some mould around the bath & in the runners of the shower screen. The layout of the bathroom was odd... The toilet area felt very cramped due to the fact that there was a heated towel rail right beside the toilet... Not great for larger people who could easily burn their arm on the hot rail... And... not at all hygienic because the lovely white fluffy towels were just millimetres away from the toilet seat & toilet bowl... Maybe a little bit graphic but if a gentleman were to stand up for a wee... The towels could easily and probably would get splashed!!! Prior to getting ready to attend the wedding we decided to relax for a couple of hours. Firstly there were no cups, glasses or teaspoons for us to have a drink.. A call to reception resulted in a visit from housekeeping to provide the items... I then decided to lounge on the bed whilst my husband had a shower... As I got onto the bed I felt a sharp pain in the bottom of my left foot... I looked & what appeared to be a splinter was stuck in my foot causing it to bleed... I pulled it out & to my horror found it wasn't a splinter but in fact was a toenail!!! And not one of mine!!! I literally screamed & lept off of the bed... Only to find several more nail clippings stuck to the bottom of my foot... The carpet beside the bed was covered in them... I was raging!! I rang reception to demand someone attend imnediately. We were visited by member of staff who examined the scattered nails on the floor & arranged for the room to be cleaned... It was disgusting!!! ( A previous occupant had obviously sat at the edge of the bed & cut their finger/toe nails straight onto the carpet). The room was vaccumed and also the bed runner removed because that was really grimy & stained with a nasty brown mark. The bed linen was clean & the bed was comfortable but the room was unacceptably dirty & had in my opinion not been cleaned prior to us entering it. The wardrobe was shabby & chipped & very tired looking & we were told that the place was due to be refurbished... The staff were actually mortified by what had happened to us & our bill was reduced by 50% when we went to settle up... But... To be honest I think we shouldn't have been charged at all considering the fact that the room was really dirty & my foot was injured as a result of non existent house keeping... We were very disappointed with our stay & definitely wouldn't stay here again... The thought of what had happened still makes me feel nauseated... It was absolutely repulsive... Collapse

Special and memorable day which we wanted to be perfect and it was, the location was stunning, assistance with details, menus, table planning etc. was always at the end of the phone or email, Robyn and Helen went out of their way to collate all arrangements. On the day, we had first class attention and service throughout, Monika was a star and made sure everything was as we wanted, plenty of efficient staff around too, who were all excellent. The whole event was just as we wanted, very special and completely memorable, thanks to all at the Hartsfield. Collapse

Looking for a wedding venue for our special day we followed a colleague's recommendation, (her daughter's wedding reception was held there), and visited Hartsfield Manor. We had already visited many venues. We were immediately impressed on approaching the house via the long drive and even more so when we looked around the grounds and house. It has so much character, great for those wedding photos. The staircase in the main house is a stunning feature and you have a fabulous view over the grounds from the bridal suite. The rooms used for the wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast open out on to the terrace and again that great view. We and our two guests thoroughly enjoyed our tasting evening in order to select the wedding breakfast menu and wines. The choice and quality of the food was excellent and we were so well looked after by Monika, so personable, helpful and friendly. a real asset to their team. We had an amazing wedding day, everything went so smoothly. We would particularly like to thank Natalie who helped plan our big day, she was so thorough, paid great attention to detail, and gave us so much support and advice, and also to Helen, Florin and Monika who looked after us on the day. The food was excellent and we and our guests found all the staff friendly, personable, professional, attentive and helpful. We would also like to mention Leanne who took the time to show one of our guests, who is visually impaired and was staying for a couple of nights, around the house and grounds. The only negative experience I would comment on is with regards to contacting reception prior to the wedding. Many of our guests wanted to book accommodation but like us had problems getting through on the phone and on contacting them there was often a problem with staff not understanding what was being requested which did not instil us with confidence. Some of our guests were housed in the Lodge at the end of the drive when we expected them to be more centrally placed with our other guests and there was a failure to put an extra bed in a room despite it being requested prior to and on the day. We have since returned to celebrate my husband's birthday. We enjoyed afternoon tea on the terrace and you could not fault it. There was so much food and Monika was as attentive and friendly as ever. We felt like Lord and Lady of the manor! So we would certainly recommend Hartsfield as a brilliant place to hold your wedding. They made our big day so very special. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the day and were all impressed with the Manor and how ideal for a wedding. It really is a hidden gem and has the wow factor. The daughter of one of our neighbours had her wedding reception there a couple of weeks after us and they had an amazing day as well. Collapse
