Stayed here over a weekend free carpark always a bonus. Reception bar and dining room all combined not by favourite kind of area as there is not enough seating for everyone and I think the bar staff could so with some training on measures of sprints yes they used a measure but am certain the correct use of it was not applied... Rooms as you would expect (I dont there are any rooms with views as such) but there was a rolled in heater as the central heating didn't seem to work,( it seemed to be the norm in all rooms on our floor, water in shower (bring a shower cap) could have been hotter. Now we didn't come to watch television, but always nice if it works catch the news sport etc Staff do their job perhaps the uncertainty of whatever is going on reflexes how they work. I don't see where they got 4 stars I really don't but it says it on the tin so.... Not sure of a repeated visit Collapse

First off I'd like to say I'm not entirely sure what I paid €300 for. We are just back from a 2 night stay in the harlequin hotel. It is very easy to find and has a decent location. A barrier protected multistorey car park with plenty of space and was nice and clean. The decor of the hotel reception area is a little out there but very nicely done. Unfortunately for me that's where my niceties stop. Upon arrival we were greeted by a blonde lady who although friendly seemed some what distracted there was no small talk. Simply " Do you want to pay the balance now or on departure, and do you want to book a table for dinner tonight" that was the most of the conversation. Also answering a phone while dealing with a customer is a no no in my book. So we climbed the aged stairs carpet to our suite. Which on first impressions was impressive. However upon actually entering the room I was very disappointed. The ceiling to floor windows gave us a wonderful view of the adjacent graveyard and the main road. (which may I add is very very loud). There is paint chipped off every furniture item. The round table was dirty. and the grout on the bathroom floor is coming off there is a crack in the bath surround and when we showered the limescale ridden shower head sprayed water everywhere. The TV is really old with terrible picture. The toilet flush worked occasionally. The hairdryer didn't work if you held it over you head. The headboard of the bed is in terrible condition. There are nicks in the leather on the couch and that awful radiator sounded like there was water running through it constantly Very poor finishes to a very expensive room. All this for 300 with no breakfast included. I would have been happy with the hotel of the room wasn't so aged and Weathered. Really took a shine off our anniversary weekend. Collapse

I would like to thank Lisa and all the team at the Harkequin Hotel for their professionalism, excellent service and hospitality. Our family have been staying there since it opened and have never had a bad experience. Was there in February with family and we all had a most enjoyable experience. Food in the Hotel was excellent and suited all our tastes. Beautifully presented Hotel, great indoor parking with easy access to our bedroom and central to all the restaurants, shops and pubs in Castlebar. Planning our next trip back now and really looking forward to it. Collapse

The Harlequin is a nice boutique hotel with free parking......always a bonus! The rooms were nice, but I don't think the heating was working as both of our rooms had an electric radiator plugged in warming up the room. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the price was quite reasonable. My only complaint was when we went to check in, the two girls behind the desk continued to talk to each other, while we stood there, without even saying "hello", or "I'll be with you in a moment". I know it's a small complaint, but when it's your first contact with someone, it should be better! I would recommend the Harlequin Hotel, as it's a good place to stay in Castlebar. Collapse
