I'm writing this review while the hotel is under renovation and we got a nice deal on the stay. There are things understandable due to renovation (construction noise during day, contractors sharing the elevator), giant dumpsters backing up to the pool, but others that just aren't acceptable for a Hampton Inn. The location itself is rough, it's next door to what looks like a condemned hotel. The hotel goes under lockdown at night and they have a security guard. We got a room that was renovated, but probably not yet finalized. The shower head was in rough shape and the tile work on the floor will probably need to be fixed before this comes out of renovation. We had a room right above the entrance where smokers congregate, so we had to deal with the small of cigarettes on Monday when we chose a non-smoking hotel. We also had an early flight out and there was no hot water at 4am. I guess it turned on at 4:30, so once I realized there was hot water I had a rushed shower before the flight. The other issue was breakfast, they only serve until 10am which is early for a resort destination. Then when it says 10am, they really mean 9:40 because they stop refreshing the breakfast bar then. They also took away coffee at 10 and didn't put it out for a few hours. These are little things that are completely controllable for the hotel. They do have a shuttle to Universal that is shared with 5 other hotels. You have to be on a strict schedule because it only runs every hour and only stops for 3-5 minutes at each stop. This hotel is in the middle of the schedule, so you'll spend some time being shaken around on an old bus. We found Uber for $5 to be easier than waiting to get back on the shuttle. I don't know what this will be after renovations, but they may have been better off using a bulldozer on this place. Collapse

They worked on the hotel all day long. It was loud and noisy. No one could sleep. We asked to have a cot provided for one of our children and they forgot so we had to request it again later in the afternoon. There was no respect for people in the hotel. Hammering, drilling and banging all day. They couldn't even move us because they said it could've heard all over the hotel. Collapse

Our three families stayed at this facility two nights because it was close to the Holy Land Experience the second day, while we waited for our Disney Cruise the third day. Unbeknownst to me, my wife had booked this through a third party, thinking she was booking directly with Hampton. I had also just added the Hilton app to my iphone wherein we would get Honors points if we booked directly with them. The front desk clerk, Maria, was sympathetic and gave us 10,000 points! However, next we had a problem when at 7 pm when our grandchildren were going down to sleep (as well as our exhausted daughter), there were workers on the fourth floor (we had three rooms on the third) making loud noises like breaking up tile. My daughter's room heard it first and complained via phone. Then we heard it, and complained by phone. Several minutes later my son-in-law went down to the desk, along with my son. After about 15 - 20 minutes the noise stopped. I understand initially Maria didn't want to bother the manager who was celebrating Thanksgiving with his family, and the workers refused Maria's request to stop work without the manager telling them to. Finally the manager got involved, and peace was restored. Then my granddaughter got sick throughout the night, and didn't get a good night of sleep. My daughter and family had only intended to stay one night while the other two families were staying two. The next day, we met with Cameron, the day front desk clerk who listened to our tale. He had not heard of the workers working late and was sympathetic. I asked if my daughter and her family could stay a second night. Cameron didn't know if there was going to be room on another floor, since the hotel was fully booked for Thanksgiving. He later informed us that there was room, that was cleaned, and gave it to us with no charge! The breakfast was a full hot and cold breakfast and was good. The dining area was a bit small for our large group of 12, including six children, but we managed. The dining area was also available for dinner that we brought from Chick-fil-A and Fresh Market. This property might be viewed as off the beaten track and yet it is within a mile of Universal Studios, International Drive, and the best outlet mall shopping in Central Florida. It's within 3 miles of the high end shopping at Millenium Mall, 5 miles from Sea World and 10 to Disney. Very affordable but this property had been showing its age - but no more! Their renovations are almost complete bringing high quality accommodations at lower prices. Great for business travel as it's near I-4 to get you around Orlando. Near hundreds of restaurants. This is a great place to stay for holiday travel now and business or pleasure in 2017! Collapse

My family and I stayed here for 4 days into a brand new renovated room. The rooms were spacious, and since we are a family of 4 the sink on the outside of the bathroom was a nice touch. The lobby looks great and was also just renovated. We enjoyed the free shuttle to Universal daily and the free breakfast had different options on every day. The entire staff that we came across were always friendly and welcoming. On our next trip to Universal we are definitely staying here for many years to come. Collapse
