We enjoyed the midtown location and easy access to the key tourist spots. Within walking distance of Times Square but without the excessive crowds, lights and noise. The rooms were comfortable and relatively quiet. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast in a large room. As large as that room was, it was packed. The staff did a very good job keeping the food items replenished and fresh. The lobby has coffee and hot chocolate avaliable at all hours. The rooms don't have mini fridges so you can't store leftovers but there is a drug store on the next block for stocking up on bottled water and cheap snacks. We used uber to and from la Guardia which worked well. Walking distance to theatres, Rockefeller, Times Square. Collapse

This hotel is in a great location. We walked every where except to the 9/11 Memorial. The staff is excellent. The breakfast buffet exceeded our expectations. Every day there is an egg choice as well as either a meat or potato choice. This is in addition to the regular cereals, waffles, bagels, and danish. In addition to apples and bananas, there was a platter of sliced fruits. Two cautions: 1. This is the Times Square NORTH not the Hampton Inn Times Square CENTRAL. They are about 15 blocks apart. 2. We took the E train to the 9/11 Memorial. We were told to get the Subway at the corner of 50th & 8th. However, there are 2 entrances to the Subway there on 2 different corners. One goes uptown the other goes downtown. Make sure you have the correct direction. Collapse

I stayed here with my family for 5 nights in early January 2017. (Travel Tip: The cheapest time to visit NYC is mid - January) The hotel itself is fairly standard for a Hampton Inn. Being located it Manhattan, this hotel lacks a traditional lobby. This is not necessarily a problem, especially considering this hotel appears to he geared for tourists, not business people. Lets go over some specifics now; Lobby: - Small, but modernly (is that even a word?) furnished - Free Wifi (throughout the entire hotel - Gift shops with souvenirs and food/drinks/toiletries -business center with 3 computers and printer - small work-out room (open till 11pm) Rooms: - Great for families - Very big rooms for NYC - same size as most Hampton rooms - Clean!!! Complete Daily maid service! - Standard Hampton room, but NO microwave or refrigerator (I believe these are available upon request) - Comfortable bedding - Small bathroom (with a shower/tub) - windows that actually open!! (But NOT a fall hazard) - A/C and heat - Surprising not much street noise (only a few horns and sirens) - Loud door slams! Shut your door carefully! - Free WIFI - premium wifi $4.95 Benefits: - Free hot breakfast (at least a $10 value per person) with waffles, sausage, cereal, breads/bagels/pastries, juices - Free 24/7 hot coffee/tea/hot chocolate - Gift shop - Concierge service daily (take advantage of this is you are a first time tourist) - Bellmen service - "Towncar" service available to airport (subject to availability/reservation required) - (good if you have lots of luggage, big SUV with fixed rate to airports) - Work-out room/gym Location: - Great location!! - Away from all the noise and bustle, but a mere 5-10 minute walk to Times Square! - Located within 10-15 minute cab ride ($8-$18) to Empire State Building, Herald Square, Central Park, Museum of National History, Art museums, Rockefeller Center, churchs, etc. - 10 minute walk to Hell's Kitchen restaurants - 2 to 20 minute walk to every theater on broadway! - Across the street and within 3 minute walk: casual Pizza slice restaurant, 24/7 Diner, Chinese restaurant, 24/7 pharmacy (Rite-Aid 2 minute walk), bagel store etc. TIPS: - Want breakfast? Get there early - (before 7:30am) - Forgot something? Visit the 24/7 Rite Aid a block away - literally 2 minute walk! - First time tourist? Get a City Pass! Purchase one in the business center and print it out there too! (Included is admission to museums, 9/11 memorial, Statue of Liberty, Top of Empire State Building, Top of Rockefeller building, The Intrepid) - Highly recommend!!! - See at least one show of possible! (I know it's expensive, so follow my money saving tips below) How to save money in NYC - Buy a City-Pass, not individual admissions - Don't eat at national chain sit-down restaurants. Don't eat at restaurants that look like tourist traps! Instead, dine on slices of pizza, food carts, hot dogs, local restaurants, casual chains like Shake-Shack or Tri-Tip Grill (among countless others) - Walk! Walk! Walk! Nothing is that far! Walk to see the city! - Cabs and subways can add up! If you plan on using the subway a lot, buy a 7-day pass (around $30 a person) Overall: - Great hotel, very reasonable pricing! - Great for families! - Highly recommend! - You could pay Twice the amount of money at other hotels for almost no change!
