The guests at this hotel seemed to consist almost entirely of people like us--either about to board a cruise liner or having just disembarked. And with good reason. There is a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and the shuttle from the hotel to the pier is only $8. The entire hotel has just been renovated and is lovely. The rooms are large and well laid out, and breakfast was fine. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only exception was the shuttle that takes you to nearby restaurants. There were no restaurants close enough for us AARP members to walk to easily. When asked about the shuttle, the front desk would call the shuttle driver. The answer was always the same. He will be here in a few minutes. That was true, if 20 minutes falls into the definition of "a few minutes". Overall, we would stay here again (but hope that they improved their shuttle service. We booked this hotel for a night pre-cruise and got a good rate. Free shuttle from airport to hotel. The hotel was just renovated and has a nice look. The rooms were cozy and it was quiet but we were on the 9th floor. Like the security where you need the room key to get to a floor. Aida at the front desk was great as we got in way early for check in, but she allowed us to keep our luggage on a cart and stored it for us (4 of us). She was also friendly and patient with our many questions. Breakfast was good and the two staff worked hard at keeping up--most of the time, doing well. It was different to have the breakfast area on the 2nd floor though. Big negative-- shuttle service. They have a third party shuttle service "Tourism in Motion". They have free service from the airport and within a mile of the hotel. They charge you depending on distance from there. The issue is the service is spotty at best. Took 20+ minutes to get us at the airport. Then there were people waiting at the hotel to go to the convention center. There was only one van for all. When we asked for the shuttle to take us to dinner, we were told would be 30 minutes as he had to go to the airport. Shortly after that--he dropped others off at the hotel and beat feet out to the airport (knowing we were waiting). We wanted to go to 15th St, near Port Everglades for dinner---- this was on the way and close to the airport; but he left us there. We ended up doing Uber for a few less dollars than the shuttle would have charged us without the wait. The shuttle to the port was $8 per person. Again Uber would have been a better deal with the way it was run. Overall- a good hotel to stay. Nice rooms and good hotel staff. Did not have a vehicle, so no comment on the valet parking issues brought up on here. As for the area and the homeless nearby--true. We walked back to the hotel from Los Olas (less than 1 mile) and saw several. I also walked to the Winn-Dixie at sunrise where one man was sleeping on the sidewalk near the hotel. No issues either time. The area is continuing to be built up (quickly), so my bet is the homeless will be chased out of there soon if that is a problem for you. Only issue that prevents us from returning is the shuttle service-- NOT RELIABLE. Collapse

We visited this Hampton Inn on Saturday after a week long cruise with a large group of friends. Somehow in our booking half of us got booked in a Hampton Inn 25 minutes away and the other half got booked with this one. We were only going to be staying for a few hours before we had to catch our flights home. Teddy the manager did whatever he could to get us all booked at this hotel even though it was such last minute. He was awesome and we greatly appreciated all of his help! We took a shuttle to lunch and also a shuttle to the airport at 5 am and those two guys were awesome as well. The rooms were extremely clean and very nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Great customer service! Collapse

I stayed at the Hampton Inn Downtown Las Olas from December 30 - January 2, 2017. It was a great experience, very modern hotel, nice rooms and the breakfast was good every morning. Of course they had the make your own waffle station, and the hot bar selections were also very good with different selections each morning I was there. Very friendly staff, only drawback is the parking is valet only. The location was convenient, a 10 minute drive to the beach, 5 minute drive to downtown restaurants, and only a few miles drive to the interstate. Collapse
