Lovely hotel. Room was superb- best pillows i think I have ever used in a hotel, good sized beds and space for a twin room. Plenty of room for mum and I have our own space and not be on top of each other which often bugs me with a 'twin room' which essentially two small singles pushed together. Not the case here at all. Large beds, big enough to fit adults comfortably with room to spare. Air con was great and a blessing. Breakfast was wonderful. Collapse

Booked this hotel for my our daughters 13th Birthday weekend treat. stayed in Hilton Hotels before but by fare this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. No sleep in the 2 nights of our stay among meany other complaints. Arrived just after 11am on 21st July 2017 expecting to just drop off our bags and return later when room was ready. But was greeted very well and told a room was ready for us so thought we was off to a great start. on first inspection the room 222. was quit clean But there was no Birthday Greetings left in the room for our arrival as I requested 2 days before. Noticed Steel Grids outside the window blocking the view and made you feel like you was in a cage. and noticed a FIBBERS BAR / CLUB over the road in front of our room. But was not told about this being an issue so. Also few things were damaged in the room. got ready and went out in to York. was going to report issues on way out but lots of people checking in so planned to do it on our return. but didn't get a chance to. on first night seen around 60 people stood outside the Fibbers club and also stood under our window street below smoking this was to go on till the around 2am so hardly got any sleep. also rain hitting the steel grids outside the windows also hindered our sleep 22nd July Breakfast was OK but not the best. welcomed by Breakfast staff. Bacon was warm sausages horrible taste. fruit and pastries very nice along with the Cappuccinos. left to go shopping and returned again later that afternoon, expecting our room to be cleaned and.Reported these issues on return to the hotel at 14.25 Hours. Ie, Large Tear in the curtains. Window was not fully shut leaving a half inch gap. enough to get your fingers in between window and frame.Flush button on the toilet hanging off & digital radio / alarm clock button broken. and Bathroom sliding door wouldn't shut properly and didn't want to get charged for any damage in the room. also told the lady at the desk that the notice from the Fibbers club kept us awake most of the night and smell of smoke coming through half open window. STEVE from main desk came up stairs with us to see the damage on entering the room also noticed the. Bins and no cleaning had been done But my daughter birthday greeting and chocolate was left in the room. Only a day Late. Asked him about the bar over the road and said so noisy and got no sleep. he said they haven't informed the hotel of any gigs taking place? also asked about the grids on the windows. hes said they are there to stop sunlight cooking the room? he also stated that all twin rooms in the hotel are front facing? he said someone would be up to sort the window out and shut in it correctly. we left at 3pm again and returned after 20.55hrs noticed steel fences outside Fibbers club and Bouncers outside the club so could see that another night of no sleep was in hand. on entering the hotel two males in their mid to late 20s also guests came in behind us and were very drunk and headed to the hotel bar.. we got to our room and noticed our room had finally been cleaned and now a balloon had been placed in the room? window still had not been fixed or shut correctly. between 21.10 & 21.40hrs my daughter hungry so we went down to the reception / bar area to get a few snacks. and whilst looking at the snacks these same 2 x males ran passed me and my daughter, barging into me whilst one was giving the other a piggyback ride through the reception area and out the main doors with paint glasses in hand. I was so annoyed & my daughter was frightened at this that I asked the young lady staff. if those guys were staying at the hotel she replied Yes. she asked why, what happened. I said, You need to tell them to calm down as I dont pay good money to come to a hotel and be treated like this by drunken hotel guests, she apologized and I told her it wasn't your fault but this was unacceptable behavior. on returning to the ground floor lift seen a handbag left on the floor so handed the bag back top the same member of female member of staff. at 1240am on the 23rd it goes from bad to worst. a couple staying in room 223 or 224 by the window was arguing for a good 30min banging the door. slamming the door and shouting then the noise from the Fibbers club went on from 1am to 4am screaming shouting smoking under the window again so two nights no sleep, unpleasant and untrained staff. Breakfast was again the same as the first but was welcomed by the chief who collected our plates etc, very pleasant chap and asked us what plans were my response was Going home because thats all that we was looking forward to. collected our bags and went back down to reception to check out & to ask if they could look after them for us until or booked train at 4pm. at no point did any member of staff ask us if we enjoyed or stay with them or if everything was OK with our stay. every other hotels we stay in always ask these few simple things. so I asked Steve on the desk for the name of the hotel manager to which he replied manager for what? I said again the manager / the big boss he replied Vicky ?? I also mentioned about the Club noise again last night till 4 am. No sorry or even any engagement in to talking about compensation for our dreadful stay at their hotel.. I will be taking this further. a planned Birthday gone to ruin all because of this over priced un-mountaineered hotel ps. Bed mattresses also uncomfortable and dirty bedstand. stained sheets and damaged hairdryer photo evidence to follow Collapse

We stayed here for 1 night before my daughter's graduation. The hotel was really easy to find from the railway station, a 5 minute walk at the most. Our room was clean and comfortable - I liked that I could choose our room online the day before using the online check in service. Reception staff were friendly when we arrived, gave us two keys with no issue. I got up at 4am to go and take some photographs and the night receptionist was also very friendly. The location in York itself is fantastic, right in the heart of everything so you don't need to have a car to get out and do things. Breakfast in the morning was great - a really good selection of hot and cold items, no problem finding a table and the food was replenished often. Check out was seamless and we left our bags while we went to the graduation ceremony with no problems. We will definitely stay here again; we have stayed in the Premier Inn previously and this knocked spots off that for the same price. Collapse

Once parked in the NCP car park which is a 5 minute walk away, we checked into the hotel (and got our car park ticket stamped to get the parking for £15/day instead of £25). The staff at check in managed to get confused with our party's two room booking. This later caused confusion when checking out because they wanted me to pay twice. Quite impressive really. That fortunately was the only niggle I have with this hotel. For the price, I'd say it's good value. The breakfast was good and plentiful, the hotel is a 10 minute walk from the main centre and it is spotlessly clean. I would definitely recommend. Ps One of the pubs over the road is to be avoided - The Falcon Tap - this place is a health hazard! Collapse
Good location, just out of the old town

Its a chain hotel but its clean, comfortable and nicely located. Discounted parking is down the street a couple hundred meters. Rooms have comfortable beds and a good bathroom. Views are not very attractive.
