Hotel The Hotel is situated in a great location in the centre of the town just up from The Square with easy access for short stroll for shopping, the Promenade, Beach, the BiC. Parking Parking is a premium which is understandable due to its location with the car park owned by the Council which is a £13 per day charge and is situated beneath the hotel, more about the finer details are covered when checking-in to the hotel later. There is a drop of point for you to unload/load your luggage. At the time of staying at this hotel it was a year old and sits next to its sister hotel The Hilton. Both hotels are very well appointed bright and airy with interesting decor in both with computer screens and library. Check-In Check in was simple and efficient with polite welcoming service. As I had paid upfront online so the process was simply completing the guest form and explanation of the hotel facilities such as 24 hour gym, breakfast arrangements and the lift operating system which only works with your room key as does the front door after hours for added security. As said previously the car park which is situated beneath the hotel is municipal owned by Bournemouth Town Council. The cost is £13.00 per day and with reception taking your registration number and payment. I'm assuming that during your stay you will have guaranteed parking if you should wish to venture out and about. Bed Room The room is well appointed with a nice big bed with comfortable pillows, an alarm clock and sizeable TV, tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer, iron and board plus the room comes with its own safe which is useful and you have your own accessibly controlled air conditioning. The bathroom was spacious using Villeroy & Boch bathroom suite and Grohe fittings, though it is a walking shower than a bath/shower combination, fresh towels every day. The room is nicely decorated with images of Bournemouth and plenty of mirrors and USB ports for charging your gadgets and the use of an ethernet cable, though the wardrobe is surprisingly small and doesn't lend itself to long term stays for hanging loads of clothes if there are two or more staying and there isn't any drawers to put anything in, though I tend to live out of my cases when travelling anyway. Some of the rooms have sofa beds and also connecting rooms which is great for families or a gang of friends. Breakfast Breakfast runs till 11 am with self service buffet style. There was a great variety to choose from with cereals, continental and cooked breakfasts with pastries, fruit, yogurts catering pretty much for all tastes and the quality was excellent, though seating could be a challenge at busier times as you sit where you like with the staff collecting used crockery and utensils throughout the sitting with pleasant smiles and happy to help. Evening Meals Served in the breakfast area along with the bar. I did enquirer about eating the evening of arrival as I had a bad journey and fancied a simple meal and an early night, though the receptionist suggest eating at the sister hotel next door The Hilton as she said that it wasn't that good. But on the basis of the quality of the Breakfast she may have done it a dis-service, but liked her honesty. The hotel doesn't offer room service which isn't an issue for me as I always have a drinks hamper packed all the home comforts I require. And to be honest, there are loads of place to eat and drink late in to the night within a short walk in to town. Conclusion With the hotel being just over a year old it still has that new clean spacious look throughout with a cheery atmosphere and comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and even in the mornings the Hotel Manager would be available on hand and was visible chatting with fellow guests. The problem with modern hotels today is that they are built so quickly and without the attention to detail expected with some of the fixtures and fittings and this hotel is a casualty of that as both the rooms I had booked had snagging issues, bathroom toiletries fittings coming loose on the walls noticeably which in time along with one or two other items in the room if not addressed will soon make the hotel tired and shabby which would be a shame. Housekeeping in my room was acceptable but I would like better attention to the build up of limescale around the taps and shower area to be better controlled and better attention dusting throughout the room. It wasn't my first choice hotel as I have a preferred hotel I usually stay that was full but that said I was pleased with this hotel and would happily stay here again despite the issue with the parking.
