Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam
4 4 Star:
Per Person Per Night
The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is situated in a unique building in Amsterdam-Oost: the former Burgerziekenhuis (hospital). This historic building on the Linnaeusstraat was renovated in 2011 into a trendy hotel with luxury rooms and its own Italian restaurant, Enoteca. The hotel is easy to reach by car or public transport. And by tram, bus or bike, you’ll be right in the centre of the city in 7 minutes.
For true Italian enjoyment you can visit our restaurant, Enoteca. The Head Chef makes the most delicious fresh pastas, antipasto misto and traditional fish and meat dishes with a little twist. The menu is offered digitally (tablet) or traditionally (menu). There are no fewer than 25 Italian wines to order by the glass from the wine menu. Breakfast is also served in Enoteca, With a wide choice of fresh dishes and a perfect cappuccino or latte macchiato.
The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is in the middle of Amsterdam-Oost, the up-and-coming city district. In recent years many great restaurants, cafés and other hotspots have arrived. You can walk easily to Oosterpark from the hotel, where there are regular festivals and other events. The multi-cultural Dappermarkt is also within walking distance. You can also, of course, hire a bicycle to explore the area.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel during early December. It was very easily accessible from the airport taking the train right from the airport and then was about a 5-10 minute walk from the sprinter. You can also take a tram from Amsterdam Central (which is where the train from the airport goes to). We decided to buy the 3 day Amsterdam public transportation cards for 25 Euro per person (buy this at the airport and your trip from the airport to the hotel is included in this price). We thought this was definitely worth the price, we used the trams quite a bit. Also I believe its around 10 euro for 2 persons 1 way to/from the airport. For the hotel itself - I thought this was a great location! Not right in the city center so it was not too noisy, but also not too far away. The tram station is literally right outside the door and very convenient. The staff were very friendly. There is a decent size lift. There was no complimentary water bottles, but there was a vending machine and you could buy water from the front desk. My boyfriend and I found a convenient store down the street and bought large waters there. I also drank the tap water - but would not recommend. The hotel also has a restaurant in it, which we did not try but had decent reviews. There was also a great breakfast place on the same block, called Cafe Kujiper - AMAZING. Also right next door to the hotel is the highly rated Smoke Palace, also convenient if you are seeking all that Amsterdam has to offer ;) The room was very clean, we had a king size bed (2 twins pushed together) but could not really feel the crack. Pretty comfy for a European hotel. The bathroom was very clean as well. However, the water pressure was not great. Also the door does not fully close for the bathroom (in our type of room, not sure on the others). It was a smokey glass door, and either side of the door had a crack when it was shut. Something else that was weird is that there was a "window" looking into the bathroom. It was the mirror inside the bathroom then either side had clear glass panes - traveling as a couple this was fine, but if you are traveling with friends and or family...this could be awkward. As a side note - the main city center - Leidseplein, had a lot of construction going on while we were there - so maybe stay away from staying in that area. Overall - I had a very good night sleep and the location was super convenient. If we were to go back to Amsterdam I would definitely consider staying here again! Collapse
Cosy and design hotel in East Amsterdam

Modern hotel in a large ancient brick "manor", with good Italian dining. A bit too far East outside city center, but close to the ethnographic museum. Relatively small rooms, but quiet garden in the back.

We decided to spend a night away from home, but in our own city, and the Manor was a great choice! Very comfortable room and bed, location was perfect. Great value for money. Our room had a balcony as well, which would be great in summer!

I've lived in Amsterdam for 33 years. When we visit friends and family we sleep in a different hotel every time. This time in The Manor, and we did not regret it! Beautiful building, completely renovated on the inside with nice big rooms. I like the decorations with the Andreas cross, the symbol of the city of Amsterdam. Friendly staff, nice that we could speak Dutch here! Very often in Hotels in Amsterdam we cannot speak our own language.... Not a big problem, but it feels awkward sometimes. The location is good for visiting Amsterdam, various sights close by, tram in front of the door. The hotel has bikes for rent as well. Collapse

I've just got back from a weekend in Amsterdam and stayed at the Hampshire Hotel. I was so impressed - the staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful, the rooms were clean and well designed and the location was great - slightly away from the canals but easy to reach with trams stops a stones throw away with several routes. Also less than a 10 min walk to the train line going to and from the airport. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends :) Collapse
