This is not a bad hotel. In fact, if they ironed one or two little things out it would actually be an excellent hotel. First up location is fantastic. Just off Rembrant Square, right on the banks of the Amstel. Nearby is a metro station and a tram stop. You can be at central station in 10 minutes. If you prefer to walk it's about 25 minutes but a pleasant stroll. You are surrounded by bars and restaurants. There's a bank across the road if you need an atm. The rooms are clean and come with everything you need. I had a single room and it was quite pokey but I guess you get what you pay for. Be careful with the mini bar. I moved some stuff out to put in some bits I bought from the supermarket. The fridge has sensors so presumes you've taken (super-expensive) drinks and it automatically ends up on your bill. Took some explaining at check out. Where the place falls down is mediocre service. The girl at the check in was perfectly pleasant but check in took 40 minutes! And it wasn't that busy. Other reviewers say the same thing so it's not an isolated view. Needless to say after check in my room wasn't ready and was told to come back in 2 hours to get the key. On returning it was another half an hour queue to just pick up the key! Not acceptable. Also you'll be asked to stump up a €50 deposit to ensure you don't smoke in the room. I explained I don't smoke so won't need to stump up the deposit but was still forced to pay it. Makes you feel like a naughty school child! I'm an adult please treat me as such. You'll also have to pay a city tax on top of that. I know that's out of their hands but let us know before we get there surely? The free WiFi that is promoted in the hotel is so terrible I could barely load my Facebook App. You want something faster you have to pay. Breakfast is not bad but ludicrously over-priced. Skip it and nip out to the surrounding restaurants. As I said, pros and cons. My lasting impression was they were a bit money grabbing. I know all hotels are to a certain extent, but if you had the level of service to match it, maybe you wouldn't mind. Collapse

They don't have hair conditioner wish is a basic thing every hotel should have room service gave me extra body wash but forget to give another bottle of shampoo and the shampoo and body wash in the shower is v low quality The tv is old but it's working The only good thing I can say the breakfast is satisfying different varieties of juice and food Collapse

Have to stay because booked early at the same time with friends who has got a correct room. We had to choose between toilet smelly room or noisy room because of construction starts at 10 am. Also many rooms with a small window to inside view kind of prison cell- not like it all on the photos and internet. Must avoid. You can find much better at same price. It s not a 4star at all, but 1 or 2 star quality hotel. Please check also some photos. On the other side reception team is really kind. Collapse

We were on the DFDS ferry mini break from Newcastle, with one night booked into this hotel. The room was very nice with a view of the Opera House over some rooftops. Everything was clean and tidy. We did not eat at the hotel in the evening but the breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient, especially the concierge. The location was very central - within an easy walk of all the major attractions. The only negative thing I can think of was no plug in the sink! Collapse
