Coach Trip staying one night Dinner Bed and Breakfast booked by Radleys Coaches . This hotel was a pleasant surprise as a group we were expecting the worst but everyone of our 26 guests were impressed with the welcome we experienced at this hotel the evening meal was an adequate selection and of a good standard the rooms were bright and well appointed. Breakfast was on a self service basis which seems to be the norm these days with the usual serials and porridge with a selection of eggs bacon etc and a continental alternative. The staff were friendly and helpful all in all this was a very pleasant stay and we would certainly consider Hallmark hotels again. Collapse
We just loved it!

Just seen the rubbish someone has written about this venue. The welcome from the staff was pleasant and efficient. The bedroom was spotlessly clean. Evening meal was to a high standard served by attentive and charming staff. The bed was firm and very comfortable, we had a superb nights rest. Breakfast was very good with excellent choice and everything fresh and well cooked. Again the staff were always on hand and with a pleasant smile. An excellent venue, thank you to everyone. Collapse

The worst experience of our lives in terms of Hotels, stayed at the end of Aug for 2 nights. This is a 2 star at best! Very poor customer service from the check in staff. Waited a while, then made to feel very unimportant by a very tired fed up man who made zero effort, and barely looked at us, not a great start after a 9 hour journey! Low morale throughout in the staff we encountered. Having paid more for a 'better' room I was shocked, death by dated tired mahogany! Nothing like the pictures! We made the mistake of paying for the 3 courses for £20 each for dinner, such a rip off, tiny portions, not very tasty at all. Bed was rock hard and VERY uncomfortable, carpet stained, furniture scratched. The room was SO HOT, only a small old fashioned fan in the cupboard to help us, sadly it kept us awake all night creaking away, too noisy with the window open. Breakfast-Standard- Sadly I found the longest black hair wrapped all round my fruit salad! Disgusting! I was nearly sick! The poor staff in the breakfast hall were 'barked' at by the duty manager, they scurried about scared of being told off-awful atmosphere! Snatching at plates just to avoid getting told off. Least relaxing breakfast ever! Awful man clearly a bit of a bully kept telling them all off, truth be told, there were too many staff and barely any guests! Not their fault. Poor ladies I was tempted to say something to him at the time, no need to speak to staff in this way! I complained 45 mins later, once I stopped gagging from the revolting hair in my food. I was 'dealt' with by another duty manager, he was disinterested and very unsympathetic in his manner. Having stood listening to him tell me things like 'No one else had EVER found anything in their food before' I got very agitated by his manner, he clearly didn't care how I felt, nor if I was happy. He put my breakfast costs on the side and that was all he had to offer. I went away furious, his manner was shocking! He didn't ask if everything else was ok, nor did the lady at checkout, she saw we had paid in full and said thanks bye! So bad! The dealings I have had with all managers at this hotel since bringing my complaint have been shocking! I wrote to the hotel manager and told him about what had happened, and his duty managers attitude toward the breakfast staff, the hair, the duty managers attitude toward my complaint, the disappointment at the room etc, He sadly also has a very rude dismissive manner, he clearly thinks he knows better than paying guests, I had to chase him to simply reply to me! When he did, even more shocking-He hadn't even written some of the e mail if not all of the reply sent to me in his name! It was clearly written by at least 2 people and was in 2 fonts! Broken English throughout and not even relevant to what I had said. How unprofessional to allow the reply to be sent in his name! Again I was told pretty much it was all my fault, why hadn't I complained sooner than the 45 mins about the hair? He said that no one else had ever complained about the duty managers attitude toward the staff (how is this relevant), and told me how wonderful everything was (so I must be wrong!) Bizarre attitude, complacent attitude! I subsequently went to Head Office, I must say the area manager was fantastic and very much the opposite of the 3 managers I had the misfortune to 'deal' with in house! It is just so bad that I was forced to escalate this in the first place. Had my initial complaint in house been handled properly with some manners and professionalism I wouldn't have had to waste my time taking it further. The place needs a total overhaul, managers who care about their staff, creating better morale, updated rooms with air con and new mattresses. Managers who listen to customers and care about their experiences, a manager who actually writes his own e mails! Thanks to the area manager for kindly refunding our stay in full, I hope that lessons have been learnt, or that by now new managers are in place who care! Collapse
