We came to Hadlow Manor for an evening wedding reception, and had booked to stay overnight at the hotel. First impressions upon arriving were good! The exterior looked really beautiful.. Compact yet elegant, and set in nice grounds. Once inside, the hotel appeared to have a mixture of decor - ranging from those areas that may have had a make over in recent years, to other areas that were quite tired. And the bar very small and understaffed and for the number of day and evening guests combined. The 'happy couple' had put aside money behind the bar so that guests could drink for free (at least until the bar tab ran out), yet the staff seemed to be charging some guests for drinks. You seemed to have to specifically request that your drink be added to the tab, which I thought was a bit odd/poorly managed? And - presumably once it was noticed this was happening - late that evening, the DJ was asked to announce to guests that they could/should be getting their drinks on tab. We stayed in a twin room at the end of the night, which was a little dated decor wise. But a good size, and with usual amenities (en suite, tea and coffee, etc) In the morning, we went down to enjoy our buffet breakfast (£11.95 per head) - and the food LOOKED great! But upon seating to eat it, found it was stone cold! Which was perplexing, since they had only JUST brought out 'fresh' trays of food as we arrived. Overall, it was a good 'do'... but we felt the room was overpriced for what it was (& we got a £99 deal on booking.com. I would say it is a 3* room) and the breakfasts were inexplicably cold and CERTAINLY not worth £11.95 a head! Having spent in the region of £120 in total for our stay, plus drinks which we found we should not have been charged for, we felt a bit "meh" about the overall quality of service and venue. Collapse

My fiancé and I chose to have our engagement party at the Hadlow Manor Hotel because we had previously stayed there for a valentines day meal and thought the food was very nice. We made arrangements with a member of staff to book the Garden room for our party and we chose to have the finger buffet provided by the hotel for £16.95 per person. We was advised to cater for 75% of our guests which is about 45 people. When we asked about portion sizes we decided to add some more food, as it worked out very small portions per person. In all we paid £925 for the buffet and expected the food to be of a high standard......However, we did not get that........the sandwiches were very dry, mini pizzas were burnt, there was also another function going on (masons) and the hotel staff couldn't keep up with our party and the mason's party. This lead to some of our food coming out late and some items were missing! Our guests were also waiting at the bar for long periods of time due to there not being enough staff. Our party started at 7pm, some of our guests arrived earlier and wanted to have lunch, but they were told that they could not have lunch as the chef was too busy......We also had two young girls who were members of staff just standing around talking and not doing anything! We have emailed the hotel to say how very disappointed we are about our night, and are very angry that we paid a lot of money for our buffet and expected it to be of a certain standard, and that clearly did not happen it was just awful!!! We have not had a reply to our email!! All I would say to anyone who is thinking of choosing the Hadlow Manor for their engagement/ wedding or birthday party venue is don't do it, its not worth all the expense and disappointment!!!! Stayed the night due to working in the area, booked a double room on Laterooms for £62. On arrival I was greeted with a beaming smile from the lovely receptionist , she's just fab, so polite and mature beyond her age. The bedroom was ok perhaps a little dated but the bed was comfy, the ensuite was a bit old fashioned but it had reasonable pressure from the shower. I had my evening meal in the bar and opted for the belly pork which was very good, I also had a drink and a great chat with some of their regular customers at the bar, although I did have to wait a while for the barman to appear! A decent stay but perhaps they could do with some more staff Collapse

Our friends live in West Sussex and we live West Kingsdown so decided to meet here to catch up. We booked for bed breakfast and evening meal. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, the menu for the meal was a little strange as there were no starters although we were supposed to get 3 courses. The food was good, the steak was nicely cooked and the dessert was a generous portion. The staff seemed a bit stretched running from the reception to bar or restaurant to bar etc. The bar was lacking atmosphere and customers. The cooked breakfast was average the sausage was good but bacon rubbery and beans cold. Overall I think we will choose somewhere else next time Collapse

This hotel was an extremely mixed experience. Starting with customer service it ranged from terrible experiences dealing with one particular young girl at reception while our wedding group was arriving and checking in, to reasonable experiences with other reception staff later in the weekend. There were a number of fairly clueless staff members, (high school aged), and a couple of wonderful staff members, one was an exceptional lady in a management role, and one red-headed young gentlemen that tended the bar. The room itself ranged from utilitarian to pretty gross. The bathroom in particular provided a sensation of staying in an institution rather than a hotel. I would not recommend. Collapse
