We stayed at the Hotel for 7 nightsThe Hotel was airy & light. All the public areas were well maintained & the swimming pool & outside area were lovely . We found the rooms to be spotlessly clean & furnished well. Food served in the restaurant was buffet style for all meals.Breakfast had lots of choice to suit everyone. The evening meal gave 2choices of fish, 2choices of meat & a pasta dish an extensive salad bar & a pudding lovers dream! The bus into Mijas was 1euro 55 & the same to Fuengerola Collapse
Lovely hotel with great views but very bad service

Stayed at the Hacienda all inclusive for 10 days in a party of 4. Little disappointed on arrival as I had e-mailed the hotel to ask for a third floor room with Juliet balcony only to get a second floor room with only a window, this was rectified with a visit to reception the following morning. Hotel is in a lovely location with bus stop just outside within 10 minutes of Mijas and Fuengirola also has beautiful views over Fuengirola. Unfortunately the only thing letting this hotel down is the very poor service, there are a few good staff such as Angel, Antonio and Pepe but the rudeness we received daily from Javier in particular is something we have never experienced in 30 years of extensive traveling this man should not be working in the service industry in any shape or form. As an all inclusive guest we were made to feel like second class citizens and ordered about like children. Lunch was interesting on a daily basis the first 4 days there was not buffet so had full access to the snack menu only to be told on the 5th day we could not have snacks and had to have the buffet. The buffet had been set up for day trippers and was very poor, limited choice and cold it was an insult to be called a buffet. So this involved another trip reception and we were finally told we could have snacks for lunch everyday. We were very relieved to here this as it was the only time you could get hot food. The "hot" food in the dining room was cold every meal on a daily basis despite numerous complaints. Another thing that spoils this hotel is over night guests which arrive daily on 3 to 4 coach loads and spoil the peaceful ambience and turns the dinning room into a cattle market of people fighting for food also these guests get preferential treatment as they had nicely laid tables with bottles of wine and water whilst all inclusive guests had a limited area to sit on tables which weren't laid and had dirty table clothes as these had not been changed between dinning guests. Whilst on the subject of food and drink I feel I have to mention one of the most un hygienic things I have ever seen whilst at the bar with my wife I ordered a glass of red wine and was offered a glass of wine that had already been poured and belonged to somebody else, when I refused and asked for a fresh glass the waitress LEIZA poured me a glass then to my horror picked up the used glass of wine and proceeded to pour the wine back into the bottle and placed back on the shelf behind the bar it was absolutely disgusting. Thomson has some culpability as there was no welcome meeting at the hotel, no rep visiting times at all, no Thomson board and not even any resort, transfer, trips flight home information you are completely on your own in this hotel and therefore have to deal with the unhelpful reception staff. Please be aware there is no Thomson presence at this hotel at all which was fine for us as we are independent but may not suit other travellers.Thomson need to step in at this hotel to see how there guests are being treated, A regular visit by a rep would be a good place to start. Although the hotel appearance was lovely I would not recommend this hotel to fellow travellers and will not be returning. Collapse
Nice hotel, cold food, and not all amenities available.

We returned home yesterday for a week away at this stunning hotel in its stunning location. A short bus journey down to Fuengirola or up to Mijas (must be seen). It was perfect for a quiet trip away. However the hotel had many flaws also. The Hotel was in transition after a takeover so there was decorating happening, which didn't effect us. We looked past this as we felt it was good that the hotel was being updated slightly. However we couldn't look past certain things. The food was cold every meal time, too much was put out and was left to get cold which left it inedible at times and dry. Lunchtimes the restaurant was not open even though we paid for this. Huge coach parties would come in every evening and they all got much different service to us. They had bottles of wine laid out, table beautifully presented and we had crumb infested tables with wine marks and plates weren't taken away. The pool bar wasn't open, neither was the indoor pool, sauna or gym. To end on a good note or two, the staff were very pleasant, Antonio became our friend who made perfect Mojitos! Young Angel was always smiley, pleasant and happy, Maria Jose was very funny and professional as was Pepe. However Javier was rude and never smiles (shouldn't be in customer service). The rooms were lovely, even if a little grubby in places. Had a beautiful view down the mountain looking over the Costa Del Sol. Overall we had a nice holiday, but the general running of the Hotel was a let down. Nothing to do with the take over. Just general things. We will stay here again in the future, but not for a few years and hope that things improve by then. Collapse

This hotel scores Average on some indicators but very good on others so on balance, for me, it was very good. Great location for overnight stop; terrible if you were staying longer and don't have transport, however there is a bus stop outside and you can get a taxi in either direction. This is an excellent stop for coaches which could make it awful for other guests. Very good location in terms of view, peace and tranquility with nice pool and garden. Rooms will satisfy basic needs. Our room (quite spacious) looked a little spartan on arrival but enjoyed opening window and sitting in the chairs provided with a small table near window. Bed was not great: hard mattress, poor pillows but clean. Bathroom looks a little tired but shower worked well, hot water, good towels, bidet and some toiletries. Breakfast gave you choices to fill needs of most. Service was non-existent and no sign that they were concerned about customer care but wee got what we needed. What makes hotel very good is you can easily get to Mijas. This makes up for not being able to walk anywhere. Visiting Mijas is a must! You will be able to shop and have plenty of choices to eat making your overall experience of the hotel seem much more enjoyable. When I read other reviews (as a discerning traveller), I was concerned that wee were stopping here but can see why Riviera makes this a stop on the tour - for one night it is accessible and works.
