We stayed here beginning of July and our family had a lovely holiday. Reception was friendly and efficient. The rooms were basic and a little dated, but this did not spoil our stay. The shower was good and clean towels every day if you needed them. There was little complimentary shower bits, good we had brought our own, but I'm sure they would have been provided if we asked. We had a week AI and I believe the new owners are no longer going to provide AI. Food and drinks were fine, we could all find something we liked. The staff were all great characters, helpful and friendly. The pool was lovely and we spent all day there. This is a basic clean friendly hotel. Lovely building, but nothing nearby. You need to hop on a bus to get about or have a car. We went up to Mijas town a couple of evenings, so pretty. We had different entertainment every night I.E. great female singer, magic show was so poor it was funny, keyboard player has us all singing. I believe the hotel is closing about September for a refurbishment, due to open again end of year. If I get the chance I would stay here again. Collapse
Nice hotel badly managed.

My wife & I have just returned from one week at the Hacienda, booked through Thomson’s on an all-inclusive package. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are functional and on the whole nice and clean. The pool area is well maintained but you do have to be an early bird to get a sunbed with shade, that’s once you have found were they have been hidden by the management (usually round the back of the hotel for some reason). As an all-inclusive guest you will be treated as second class citizens, don't expect any waiter service around the pool (day or night), you have to form an orderly queue and wait for the one barman to eventually serve you a drink, usually in a dirty glass. Paying guests get the full waiter service and two barmen to supply the drinks. The night entertainment is bordering on the bizarre, two Flamenco dance teams, one lady playing an organ who thought we still love listening to "Viva Espana" & “Una Paloma Blanca” and a saxophone playing singer who although a fine musician really did think he was Joe Cocker and when not singing basically walked around plunging his saxophone into the faces of unsuspecting females. The food is prepared well but the choice is limited and the only hot meal I had was once I had noticed the microwave oven and "pinged" a nice fish dish to the desired temperature i.e. not cold. Every other meal apart from the omelette at breakfast (cooked at request) was at best lukewarm. No gym or indoor pool as advertised, apparently under refurbishment which is annoying as I could not see any work going on. Pool entertainment was thankfully only present for about 90mins a day, not that we are against these activities and I do like a bit of poolside music but why so loud and repetitive, same routine and backing track every day. Local bus service to Mijas & Fuengirola is excellent and Mijas in particular is stunning with lots of lovely laid back bars and restaurants. There is no Thompson rep at this hotel, if you require any information or assistance you have to text or call a central number but they do respond promptly. Any efforts to discuss any issues with the management team or gain a smile or welcoming response from the staff is a waste of time, they are not interested in their guest/customer relations. So to summarise, lovely hotel and we had a fantastic holiday, despite the management’s best efforts to destroy what was obviously once a splendid place to have a relaxing holiday. At best this is only a 3 star accommodation with 2 star management. Collapse

We have recently stayed at this hotel. It is definately not a 4 star. Be warned.!! Although in its favour from the outside the building and pool area. It Could be classed as 4 star. But that's where it ends.Be prepared for a shock as you leave reception and head to your room. Expect to be bitterley disappointed if you are used to 4 star accommodation. The rooms are tired, dated and grubby, ranging from loose skirting boards, dirty hand marks on walls to red wall plugs put in the wall with a hammer, leaving indentations on the wall to curtains hanging down. To name a few things. The walls of the walk in shower were dirty.on our 4th day for a full day and a half, we washed and showered in cold water.on mentioning it , I was told it was getting fixed.I accept"these things happen" on the next day still no hot water and complaining to the reception staff a shrug of shoulders and the comment "what do you want us to do about it" THE CANTEEN. A visit on our 1st night we were met by a large group of an American student coach party and a Japanese coach party,Standing in line waiting to be fed. They took over the canteen. It did take me Back many years to my school and army days. The food was not fully cooked on many occasions. (Chicken still pink in the middle and lamb chops with blood still oozing from them) the food was not labelled on many occasions and guesswork did prevail or asking was another option. Food not hot and microwave used to heat the food up on many occasions. I did speak to other guests and the feedback was much of the same. Collapse

Just returned from a super 4 night all inclusive stay at this small and friendly hotel with two friends. Having read the reviews we were a little worried with reports of unfriendly staff and terrible food. I have to say we found the absolute opposite, our room was excellent very clean with an enormous balcony (room 357b) most of the rooms do have Juliette balconies so we were thrilled to be able to sit out on it. The food was to a very high standard every day though limited choice as you would expect for a small hotel, great salad selections, fish, prawns, paella and a meat choice. The pool area was lovely and again immaculately clean. All the staff, reception, cleaners, bar, waiters and pool were very pleasant and friendly. We only have one thing that wasn't great, we were on the top floor and just down the corridor from our room there had been a large leak and the carpet runner down the middle of the corridor was soaking wet and smelt dreadfully of damp, so much so you could smell it from quite a distance away (though we could not smell it in our room). Overall a great stay, if you want a hotel where you can have a stroll out this is not the hotel for you, but it's a short taxi ride up to pueblo mijas or down to fuengirola beach. Collapse

Have stayed here before under previous ownership, which we found to be very acceptable. So as we were visiting another local venue for dinner, we thought it would be good not to hire a taxi and have bed and breakfast at this hotel. But, we were very disappointed with our room - it was clean enough, but the wet room was indeed wet! We had to put towels on the floor to mop up the water in the corridor outside leading to the bed area. It was all very clinical, the only colour being the bed throw and chairs. The room was on the lower floor and I certainly would not recommend a long stay there, as you had to walk down a very impersonal corridor to get to it. The staff couldn't wait to clear away the breakfast and it felt very 'rushed'. Will think twice about going back. Collapse
