We stayed for a few days and had a really good experience. The hotel was beautiful and had amazing views, but beds were a bit uncomfortable, they should definitely replace them if they want to reach 4**** quality. Staff was really nice and helpful, Lorrena solved all our problems and recommended us some places to visit, she was very professional. We really recommend this hotel but, please, replace mattresses! I Arrived on 3rd september with my partner and 1 year old daughter , we were due to get married on the 9th in Benalmadena so we alltogether had 18 guests staying with us in this hotel in 8 seperate bedrooms. Each family had a clean room with adequate facilities, they are basic but all you really need, I personally sleep wash and keep my luggage in there it doesnt have to be glam ! The cleaners come every single day to change towels and sheets they replace soap shampoo and wash as soon as your running low. These ladies are fantastic , its clearly a tiresome job and they always smile and greet you when you walk past. The reception are always happy to help, we had an aircon leak so they immediately changed our room for us. They allowed us to keep our room on till we get the taxi home at 5pm (this is subject to availability) The receptionists are all great so friendly !The staff always took the time to chat to our daughter and ask about our day ! The food is good always a variety of fish chicken veal pork etc the list goes on, the staff in the kitchen and wait staff again always smiley and chat to our daughter , we cannot fault the staff they work very long hours and are always working very hard. Before I arrived I was expecting the worst because of the reviews i read, I cant fault the hotel , I have now been here for 14 days and leave today Im really happy & so were all my guests ! Thankyou everyone at Illunion Hacienda for making our stay memorable and we are hoping to come back for our first anniversary ! Collapse

We are a family with a 2 year old. We paid to stay AI. There was a wide selection of drinks and food at all meal times. We were worried about the food as we had read some of the reviews before going. The food was cooked perfectly fine (there was no undercooked pork or chicken as previous reviewers had warned). The bar, restaurant and housekeeping staff were very friendly, especially towards our 2 year old. Her favourite waiter was Raul (but they were all lovely)! The hotel itself was lovely and traditional, the rooms could do with a bit of a makeover as they are looking a bit tired. There is a gym on the lower floor but you wouldn't know unless you asked as we were not told when we arrived (found it by being nosey). There was no trouble finding a sun lounger by the pool in the mornings. A different story if you haven't got one by the time the bus loads of Germans arrive at about 11am. We were speaking to a family that have been going there for 5 years and were informed that the hotel are now looking to cater more for the one night stay coach trips than the families staying for 7-14 days. Which is a big shame as I would have definitely stayed here again! The pools are lovely and clean and you can pay €10 to hire a pool towel for the day (you get the money back when you give the towel back). There is plenty of shade during the day if you don't like the direct sunlight. They have entertainment on 2 days of the week (Tuesday and Wednesday). The rest of the time there is plenty to see at either Mijas up the hill, or Fuengirola down the hill. The bus to either of these is €1.55 per person (kids are free). The hotel has bus timetables at reception that you can take. A taxi to Mijas is between €6-7. Be warned, the rules for taxis are that kids have to sit in there own seat (without a car seat) so no sitting little ones on your knee like in UK taxis. There is no pathway up to Mijas, or down to Fuengirola to be able to walk (or we would have as it's not that far), so buses, taxis, or hire cars are a must. Overall, this hotel is a lovely traditional Spanish hotel, clean but in need of an upgrade in places, the food is good and the staff are nice. Collapse

This was a clean and comfortable hotel with good facilities and clean rooms. Ours was spacious and comfortable, with everything in good order. We really appreciated the large outdoor pool with plenty of loungers etc. Breakfast was good buffet style and we also ate in the hotel in the evening. The buffet meal represented excellent value with a good range of delicious food. Throughout the staff were helpful and approachable. The only downside was its location to which it was difficult if not impossible to walk, not that there weren't plenty of modes of transport available. Collapse
