So despite what previous reviews say we found the staff all great it's a lovely little hotel could do with a bit of an update. The food was above average my only complaints really were the cold fried eggs at breakfast which was every day! It def felt more of an older persons hotel and the entertainment reflected that, but the dj was more than happy to accomadate our music taste when asked. All in all i would recommend this hotel. Calella is a great holiday town Collapse

I treated my mum to a 4 night holiday, all inclusive in the amaika hotel. I was upset at the airport due to my flight being delayed 1 hour and no-one directed me to my shuttle bus to the hotel. I phoned the hotel and they did informed me they don't know what shuttle company I was with. Instead of helping me find a way to get to the hotel, they shut me down then they couldn't find my booking which put me on more of an edge and then when I gave my booking reference they called me a different name. At this point ive waited for an hour and they did not help me. The fact was they had the information on the system and in paper (which I later saw that week) and it even told them where I had to catch the shuttle bus from. When I arrived at the hotel 3 hours later, they receptionist was very rude to me. Straight away demanded 'tourist tax' and a 'confirmation email'. Instead of making us feel on holiday, they made us feel like they were pissed off with us at being late. All me and my mum wanted was a cup of tea and to relax. The room was 'standard' and clean. The food was cold, the same everyday and not much of a variety. All the staff were rude, never smiled or spoke. The Jacuzzi and sauna was cold and not much to do around the hotel. The weather was terrible so they should put entertainment on. The hotel is beautiful, just change the staff. Collapse

I have just returned from a 3 night stay in the hotel H-top Amaika. The only word that I can use to describe this holiday is disappointed. When we arrived at the hotel, 2 police offices was waiting in reception, this did not make a good first impression upon arrival. The reception staff didn't make any attempt to acknowledge that we had turned up and waiting to check in. The second issue was that on the first night, My friend got into her single bed, and the top left corner leg broke, and she fell out of the bed on her right side, injuring her shoulder, arm and back on the corner of the bed side cabernet. I phoned reception the minute it happened and inform them of the accident, that had just happen. Within 5 minutes a member of cleaning team, Knocked on the door and removed the broken bed before we managed to take any pictures. The cleaner then brought the child's camp bed for her to sleep on, and a full grown adult can not be sleeping on a kids camp bed. so this resulted in her sleeping on the mattress on the floor. When the cleaner turned the bed over, we notice that a leg on the bed was already missing, as the bed was suppose to have 6 legs but it only had 4 legs. The second morning, we asked to speak to the manager of the hotel about the incident, and on 3 different occasions, the staff said he was not around. We then notice the manger coming out of his office later that day, and managed to speak to him, he showed no signed of sympathy. The manager then accused me and my friend that we must of been having sexual intercourse for the bed the break, was not the case as we had 2 single beds. Also no member of staff even asked if my friend was ok, and not even a log was logged in the accident book. After returning to the UK. My friend went to the local A&E department, in which they said she has received serve tissue and muscle damaged to her lower back and shoulder. The healing time can taken any time from 2 -6 weeks. Another issued that we face when staying in this hotel ( H-top Amaika) was the selection of food that was on offer, at breakfast, lunch and dinner was not at a 4* star standard. Every night there was a choice of two options which was fish and meat. No other options were available apart from chips and pasta. The food was that bad, that on the second day, we went to the local supermarket and spent approx. 30 euros on items of book food and drink. we had to purchase food that we ate for lunch and dinner, and the food that was being served at the hotel was of a poor nature. I have include a picture of the chicken that was served on the final night. The poor nature of the food resulted in myself being sick a few times on said final night. Along side with the food being very disappointing, The all inclusive level at this hotel was not very clear. The food was included in the price we paid for the AL board, but a selection of the drinks and cocktails we had to pay for. The prices were of a fraction of what we would of had to pay, if we was staying on a half board or self catering. But my understanding of AL is that all drinks (unless premium) was included in the price. This also resulted in us buying some cans from the local supermarket. The reception staff as the hotel, did not really have any information about the local surrounding. We asked one night is there was any local restaurants or bars/Café around that we could have gone to, the receptionist told us of 2 bars, when we arrive at these 2 bars. Both was closed with all the shutters bolted shut. Also we asked them on how we could make our own way into Barcelona city centre, in which they replied, that we would have to take an 10 minute walk along the sea front to the train station, the walk was in fact 20-25 minute walk. My final point I would like to raise within this email, is that the décor of the hotel and the room was very old fashion. The size of the bathroom and shower was very small. A full grown adult would have difficult in getting into the shower cubicle. The lighting in the bathroom again was on a poor nature, in fact there was no light situated above the bath tub, which made this very difficult to see the water and the step into and out of the bath. And I was a shamed of taking my friend away to this place. it was registered as a 4 star hotel with excellent reviews. But staying there myself I would not even rate this hotel as an 2* hotel Collapse

We were a bit perturbed after reading recent reviews. However we had a great time. Our room was fine and cleaned well. We had a nice high floor and good view-very quiet too-best nights sleep in a hotel I can remember! :) Staff friendly The food was very up and down but we always found something to eat. Wine on All Inclusive was rough, but you can pay a bit more and get better which was OK. Good atmosphere in the bar at night Collapse
