I can't say enough about the front desk staff at this hotel. My husband's IPhone charger wasn't working -- no problem, the front desk had a spare! WOW! And, all their restaurant, transportation, etc recommendations were spot on. Although our room was small - it is in the heart of Madrid -- it was well appointed, comfortable and clean. The shower was very good and the linens were soft and smelled lovely. The old fashioned cage elevator was a bonus. The breakfast was generous and very good. Just a super experience!! Collapse

This was my second stay at this property, the location is fantastic, the hotel lobby rooms dining area are very nice! The room was very well decorated, nice towels linens and pillows, nice espresso machine in room, The rooms are very small, If small rooms bother you you should not book here, I had a serious mechanical problem during my stay, the shower head broke/exploded while I was in the shower hit me in the head water went everywhere around the room soaking everything, I tried to call the front desk but my phone did not work, I had to get dressed go downstairs, they told the maintenance was not in for another hour, this was unacceptable I needed to shower and get ready, they offered no other help, I asked them to come my breakfast so I could eat until they fix the shower they agreed, The breakfast was expensive and very poorly done, the food was not replenished or refreshed frequently and mostly cold, when I return to my room maintenance had been there replace the showerhead but left a huge mess in the room dirty footprints everywhere and no fresh towels all the towels on the floor with footprints was completely unacceptable! I do like this hotel but Management needs to pay a lot more attention to what’s going on Collapse

Stayed for five nights but found bar staff impossible. Only interested in talking to locals and friends. Most unusual in Madrid where everyone is friendly. Tried to ask for potato chips three times but ignored, even assuming they did not understand, in their position they should make an effort, not turn their backs ! I only ordered a coke but as a guest I expected civility and service. Collapse
Could do better.

The location is superb, the ground floor with the bar, lounge, library and reception is architecturally lovely and there is a beautiful old "cage" lift which we loved. Check-in was good. Our room was at the back of the property with no view, but that is what I paid for. It was small but not perfectly formed. The bed was very comfortable and clean but I was left with the impression that "boutique" means mismatched furniture, a chair which doesn't fit under the desk which couldn't be used as the tea/coffee facilities took up all the room and a rug which needed strategic positioning to enable the robe door to open, then this was "boutique" all right. The complimentary water and juice drinks did not get topped up during our 2 night stay. The bathroom looked worn in places, especially the tiles but the shower was good with constant/ish temperature at a good pressure. Ample towels and toiletries provided. Both nights we were disturbed by lpud noises (possibly rubbish collection?) in the early hours. Despite at least one other mention of this, reception denied all knowledge of what it may have been. It didn't last long, and apart from this, we slept well. I can confirm a previous comment about noise from interlinked rooms but we seemed to be in our rooms at different times so not a problem for us I'm not one to read a hotel brochure thoroughly, if at all, but we had difficulty finding the breakfast room as there were no signs at all and we were not informed at check-in. When we found it, we found a breakfast room in two parts. The first part has several canteen-like tables placed much too closely for comfort whereas the lower part has comfy chairs and more personal space. I personally found the coffee from the machine very bitter and not very hot. The range of food available is wonderful but the temperature of the cooked food was below acceptable levels. Although I pointed this out to reception after breakfast on the first day, worse was to follow the next morning, even though I was told by one member of staff that the hot plates had been playing up for a while. There was no hot food, only a sparse offering of luke warm to cold offerings, including a stone cold ,solidified fried egg. Long story short, it was suggested that I tell the chef how I wanted a hot breakfast cooked! Simple, hot cooked sausages, hot bacon ( crisp or not, I don't mind), hot mushrooms, hot baked beans and hot scrambled egg. A fried egg needs to have the white fully cooked with no "snotty" bits, and a hot, runny yolk. The white can be crispy or not, I really don't mind. Am I being fussy here? Having paid for a full breakfast, I wanted a full breakfast. I had put up with a luke warm one the day before and I was not going to put up with a cold one now. It seemed that because of the weekend, nothing could be done. Fair enough, but what happens with the cooked breakfast I have paid for and the hotel could not provide? My loss, it appeared. I let reception know that we would be getting breakfast elsewhere and would present the bill but I was told that they don't do that kind of thing. It took a few e-mails, but I did get my money back and it was less than the hotel charged! This took up our whole morning on our only full day which unfortunately affected our whole trip. Collapse

I stay at this hotel for business. I have stayed here twice already with at least 4 nights stay. I really enjoy my stays at H10. The breakfast is wonderful. The rooms are hit and miss. Some of the rooms are beautiful with wonderful balcony, others are oddly shaped, furnished and face internally with non-functioning windows. However, I really like the location as I can both complete my business but walk to many great restaurants or shop in the area which are in walking distance. Collapse
