Villa de la Reina is a small boutique hotel in an amazing location. We walked from the hotel to the mayor attractions and sites in Madrid like Plaza del Sol, the royal Palace, The Opera, the food market, Plaza Mayor and almost didn't have to use transportation. Furthermore, the hotel is near many restaurants, supermarkets, a beautiful Casino, stores, etc. From the minute we entered the hotel, we were welcomed by the great smell from the lobby and a beautiful retro decoration. The staff at the front desk was amazing, professional, nice and efficient. This level of high service was sensed all over the hotel- at the reservation department, the bartenders and the staff at the breakfast room. All of them were simply great. We stayed in a triple room facing the inner patio. The room was extremely quiet, with a powerful air-condition,,comfortable beds, a closet with many storage, a nespresso machine, slippers and bathrows. It had a beautiful decoration like the rest of the hotel but it was a little bit small for 3 persons. Moreover, there wasn't a mirror in the bed area only in the bathroom and the glasses in the windows were not transparent. For that reason there wasn't any natural light inside the room. For me that wasn't a problem but others may think otherwise. The food at the breakfast room was nice and fresh, no more than that. I felt that there wasn't enough choice at the bread and pastry department and that they need to add to the menu more healthier options like nuts, raisons and granola. Nevertheless they had 2 Nespresso coffee machines with great espresso and cappuccino, a great way to start the day. The reason for which I gave Villa de la Reina 4 stars instead of 5, is specially because of the room size, the mirror missing in the bed area and the range of food at the breakfast room. I believe that If the hotel will take this issues in consideration and make a change, Villa de la Reina will became a PERFECT place to stay in Madrid. Collapse

Nice hotel in a great location right on Gran Via. I would recommend this hotel with some reservations – namely regarding their beds. Long story short, it seems most rooms (based on their site as of 8/1/17) are outfitted with two twin beds pushed together instead of Queen/King. I don’t understand the reasoning for this especially when the beds tend to separate and move apart at night. This was the last stop on our honeymoon and our travel agent (Melissa at TripGuy) did a great job of making sure the hotel was accommodating and conveniently located. We were upgraded at no charge to the room with the Terrace. The Terrace was nice but we barely used it as we were out most of the time. However it did provide a good photo op of the sunrise. There are so many good restaurants and bars (and also McDonalds) in the area you can’t go wrong with any of them. The hotel is walkable to Mercado de San Miguel which is a great place for a sampling of local food. There is also a jamon sandwich right next door and a Carrefour Express nearby for basics like water, snacks, etc. We recommend going on the Madrid City Tour (Hop On/Hop Off) to visit the main attractions. The main bus line runs through Gran Via and the hotel is located between the two stops. While our trip was great, there are 3 things that we didn’t like about the hotel. First, as I noted at the beginning, it seems all rooms have two twin-sized beds pushed together instead of a Queen/King. This was a big sticking point for us. Second, when we checked in the person at the front desk debated (in Spanish) whether to upgrade us or not and when she did the manager seemed hesitant to put us in the Terrace Room since we were here for 3 nights. We did not appreciate this especially since my wife speaks fluent Spanish and understood everything discussed. Third, on our last day there the cleaning lady entered our room around 8am even though we were still sleeping. She left almost immediately and I understand that was probably a mistake, but this could have been avoided. Collapse

Very nice hotel next to Gran Via, with amazing lobby and small beautiful room, comfortable bed and everything really handy. Yes, all the shops sights rests just outside. And I love that smell at the lobby!
