We spent three nights in February at the H10 Casanova, as we wanted somewhere clean, comfortable and fairly central. The hotel itself is very well presented both inside and out and I would have no hesitation recommending it for a few nights stay and here are my reasons why. ROOMS 8/10: The room was modern and kept clean with regular towel changes if required. The room came with a payable stocked minibar and a free safe. The flat screen TV had several English channels and numerous others. The bathroom had a great shower with plenty of hot water, a separate bath, toiletries provided and my wife complimented how good the hairdryer was. FACILITIES 7.5/10: The hotel had a modern bar adjacent the lobby which was quite busy the evenings we were there. The hotel also has a rooftop terrace bar but unfortunately this wasn’t open due to the time of year. It also features a gym but we never had the chance to get a look at it as we were too busy enjoying ourselves. Wi-fi was available free throughout the hotel with good connection. FOOD 8/10: We really couldn’t fault the breakfast which was the usual buffet style. There was decent variety and quality, including cereals, breads, meats, fruit, fried and scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon and pastries. Tea, coffee, fruit juices, milkshakes and water were also available. The orange juice was probably the best I’ve had in any hotel. STAFF 10/10: The staff were very friendly and Anna on the front desk deserves a mention for her very welcoming and helpful attitude, especially when my wife thought she had lost her passport. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and the Casanova kindly provided complimentary room service including Chilled Cava, Chocolate strawberries, robes and slippers. Thank you Casanova!!! this was very gratefully received. Service in the bar and breakfast room were also very good. LOCATION 7.5/10: The hotel was situated on one of Barcelona’s main tree-lined boulevards the ‘Gran Via De Les Corts Catalanes’ and only a 5min walk to University Square or 10 mins to ‘Placa Catalunya’ which is pretty much the hub around which everything in Barcelona revolves. Placa Catalunya is the starting point for the Hop-on Hop-off tours and is also where the Aircoach drops off and picks up for Barcelona El Prat terminals 1 and 2. The lower end of the square leads directly to the start of Las Ramblas. The street to the upper right hand corner of the square leads to the Casa Batllo and Casa Mila which are definitely worth a look. TIPS & ADVICE: The metro system is extensive reaching most points in the city quickly. The T10 ticket gets you 10 separate journeys for 10 euro, the ticket machines in the stations are fairly simple to use and the remaining journeys are displayed each time you use the card. There is also a good bus service and of course the Hop-on tours. Like most tourist destinations it is notable for pick-pockets so be sensible. The city is mostly fairly flat so expect to do a fair bit of walking and bring comfortable shoes. TOP TEN: Everybody is different and likes to do their own thing but here are a few suggestions that are worth a look, in no particular order. The Sagrada Familia, there can be no church more beautiful, a must-see. Las Ramblas and la Bouqueria market. Placa de Catalunya, the heart of Barcelona. Parc Guell, one of Gaudi’s masterpieces. Montjuic hill includes several things worth seeing. Torre Agbar tower, go at night for the light show. The Barcelona F.C Nou Camp tour. The Arc de Triumf and Parc de la Ciutadella. The National Palace and Placa de Espanya. Tibidabo Church, park, funicular and the blue tram. There are of course many other beautiful things to see in Barcelona and the waterfront area is fantastic on a good day. I have no doubt you will love Barcelona, keep safe and enjoy!! Collapse

Reception are very helpful, greeted with Cava on check in. Location is great, the hotel is not far from the Metro stops and Las Ramblas etc. The breakfast however is very limited, the hash browns in particular was stone cold on multiple days. Day 1 I told a member of staff and she took the pot and heated it all up in the microwave and put it back out, I told her fresh hash browns should be put out for guests. On day 2, again the hash browns was stone cold so we reported it to the restaraunt manager on day 2 and he didn't seem to know what he was talking about, he took a hash brown to the kitchen. The milkshake was not kept in a cooler and was left in a jug at room temparture. We was so disappointed we just left. The Hotel room could do with a slight renovation. Roof top pool and bar is nice. We stayed here for three nights in the 7th floor suite as we had our 18 year old son with us and obviously needed a separate bedroom for him. Choices for 2 bedroom suites in Barcelona are very limited. Lots of reviews on here mention theft - we did not leave any valuables lying around and used the very effective little electronic safe in the wardrobe. Beds were very comfortable, room was warm but we opened lots of windows and turned heating down as low as possible - would be more of a problem on a lower floor. View from roof amazing, Roof bar wasn't open but rooftop pool was though we didn't use it. Breakfasts were awesome - fantastic selection - staff very helpful and friendly. Only downside was no wardrobe/hanging storage in son's room but I guess his bed is usually a settee so not permanently set out as a bedroom. We had to leave room by 12 but were being collected for airport at 5.30 so our luggage was stored in a secure locker. Our room overlooked the inner courtyard so only muted noise at night but any hotel in central Barca there will be traffic noise - it's a busy city! Collapse
