This hotel is beautifully warm and welcoming! You'll always find an organic apple waiting for you and fragranced water for the extra hydration you need while roaming this city. The rooms are cosy, bali-like and the bathrooms are really nice. It's nothing fancy but very cute overall. The ecological products are simply amazing! Definitely must try their breakfast with scrambled eggs from happy hens, gluten free cakes, bio cheese selection, tahini and honey and all things tasty, healthy and sweet! For an extra charge per person per stay you get access to their spa which is not a hyperbole but a down to earth little zen-den! The stuff is really polite and the service is excellent. A great choice, right next to Tivoli garden and very close to the shopping district Collapse
All in all, a hotel worth remembering

one line summary: awesome hotel with many pros and few cons that I could live with. I would stay there again if I visit cph again Pro: Location: 5 min walk from Central Station means very close to the airport (15 min total travel time) and anywhere that requires train ride/s-tog. Having said that, I think Norreport is probably a better location as it also has metro line that goes to the downtown. I often found myself taking detour through Norreport (which is very close from Central Station to be fair) Amenities: shampoo, body wash, lotion, even tooth brush was high quality. makes you want to take shower many times. but seriously, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Interior/bed: I wouldn't call it modern nordic design but it's pretty hip and cozy. I liked the bed quite a bit (both look + sleep quality) Bathroom floor: minor point but it seems heated? Cph was quiet cold when we got there so it was very nice feeling haha Service: staffs were definitely very friendly and eager to help you. I wouldn't say they appeared the most professional staff I came across, but definitely makes you feel at home (think friendly innkeeper?). one last thing, gummy bear they sell is addictive... Con: Radio in the room didn't work (it looks cute though) No Fridge in the room Quite a bit of outside noise Overall, I think about other hotels I considered staying and Axel was a better package as a whole (sp34 was farther from train stops, nimb was too expensive, radisson blu felt outdated) so I'm pleased with my stay it's definitely a unique hotel that made my vacation in Copenhagen feels more like Copenhagen? Not sure if that makes sense but that's how I'm remembering this hotel. Collapse

Stayed 3 nights for a weekend in the Kings city. Organic Hótel all the way through. Design was very appealing, and staff very friendly. The room design was very nice, but very small. The bathroom was also very small. We did not sleep too well as the room was too warm, and no air conditioner. The hotel was very crowded, and we were only able to fit in the first morning for breakfast. If you do get your table however, the breakfast was amazing! Cool neighborhood with up and coming restaurants. Collapse

I booked this hotel for a weekend in Copenhagen with my two adult daughters over November 25th - 28th. We wanted something quirky but comfortable which the hotel certainly provided. The staff couldn't have been more helpful; the hotel is as quirky as it says; the breakfasts and tapas we had were excellent. However, when we booked this hotel, we were under the impression from the information it provides, that we could opt to enjoy relaxing in the bar in the evening and have dinner in the restaurant if we chose, especially after a long day out and about. On Sunday evening the kitchen was closed; the bar was basic and very limited,(it's quite limited anyway but even more so on Sundays!) When we asked why, we were told it's the manager's idea. There was no advance notice. It seems to be a regular occurence, not a "one off". So if you were arriving on a Sunday evening expecting to be able to relax after a journey and enjoy a meal in the hotel......? There were other little details which, while they didn't spoil our weekend, could have been better. The "superior" rooms are very small; two had the wardrobes in the shower rooms, (because that was the only space for them?); all had trays with limited types of drinks, no fridge except in one; no tea or coffee facilities in the room (later discovered by chance that you can go down and get some from the kitchen); no information about the hotel facilities nor the local bits and pieces which can help make a visit to a city. So, we had a good weekend in Copenhagen, we enjoyed seeing a lovely city and meeting friendly people; glugge is just what you need on a very cold winter afternoon!! :)) Would we go back to Axel Guldsmeden? Probably not. Collapse

Me and my partner stayed here for NYE last year for 2 nights and we had an amazing stay! The hotel is about a 3min walk from Central Station which was ideal, the staff were very friendly on arrival and allowed us to delay check in and take us straight to our room as we were very tired as we had a very early flight from London. The room was very nicely decorated and definitely made us feel very cosy especially that time of year in Copenhagen it can get very cold! There was underfloor heating in the bathroom and the bed was really comfortable, the room was on the slightly smaller side but for a short stay we didn't really mind. The lobby again was decorated well and carried through that cosy vibe. That evening we were able to get reservations at the hotel restaurant for the special NYE menu which was great as most places had already sold out. We enjoyed a beautifully cooked dinner with selected wines to match. We were also able to go out and see the NYE fireworks and return afterwards to have champagne in the lobby. The receptionist recommended to go to the nearby lakes about a 5min walk from the hotel to see the best fireworks and avoid the hectic scenes in the town square. This was a great idea and we got to see an array of fireworks, both put on by the council and also from locals doing there own displays. The next day we were pretty hungover (NYE night before) so we decided to use the spa they had. I think we paid around £30 each to use the spa and you could use it as many times and stay for as long as we wished which was great. The spa was definitely worth the money and was quite large considering the size of the hotel. There was a steam room, sauna. a deep jacuzzi bath and also a cold turkish-style tub. Mud masks, fresh fruit and cold water were also supplied in the spa and there was also a lounging area within the spa to relax. This was so relaxing and worth every penny, probably one of the best spas I have been to as it had a more intimate and unique vibe compared to large chain style spa's. That evening we went out for dinner in the city centre and visited Tivoli Gardens. Tivoli Gardens is well worth a visit and looked amazing at night with all the Christmas lights up, we also happened to arrive just in time for a firework display put on by Tivoli Gardens which was nice. We then returned to the hotel and had a bottle of fizz out on the terrace for our last night. (It was of course very cold however we had heaters, blankets and we wrapped up warm!) Overall we had a perfect stay at Axel Guldsmeden, the staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs, the decor and vibe of the hotel was great and Copenhagen is a beautiful and vibrant city, we will definitely be returning and staying at Axel. We are actually staying at another Guldsmeden hotel in Oslo in a couple of months and hope that we love it just as much as we loved this one! Collapse
