A lovely hotel with courteous, friendly staff. The first floor room was a good size and very clean. We had a noisy neighbour playing loud music at 1am - I complained to reception and they went up immediately to sort it out. Thanks night staff! We really liked the outdoor pools, the comfy sunbeds and the endless supply of clean towels, the spa with its indoor pool and gym. The breakfasts were also fantastic. The restaurant by the upper pool does very nice light meals in the afternoon costing around 10/12 euros. Not so good is the hotel's location as it's a 50 min walk to Palma and it's up a hill. If you don't want to pay for taxis, then the 46 stops outside. It's a very circuitous route but for 1.50 euros (pay on bus) it's a cheap option for trips to Calle Major and Palma. The No 3 stops lower down the hill. Also thought the 240 euro deposit on card for the minibar was a bit over the top. Overall we loved this hotel. Collapse

The Valparaiso is perfectly located high above Palma to survey the non-stop manoeuvring . of giant cruise ships in and out of the port. Swinging to the left, and the glory of the flood-lit Cathedral at sunset sets a different agenda. Taxi into this fascinating city (probably not at all what you expect) was 7 to 10 euros which will take you to bustling Jaime 111 or gracious tree-lined Boulevard Born to commence exploration. The hotel benefits from very spacious and elegant grounds with a paved and sheltered upper pool and a lower informal garden pool adjacent to the spa and gym. However both areas are a challenge for reduced mobility guests like ourselves although the unusually high-set very comfortable sun beds make relaxing a pleasure once you are in situ. Because of its situation high up the hill , the Valparaiso is not apparently over-used by incapacitated clients and indeed senior management have demonstrated a marked reluctance to entertain modest suggestions of a simple handrail on the multiple stone steps to the lavatories or even more importantly the upper pool jacuzzi. Nonetheless this was our 6th visit and having respectfully proposed these very minor amendments last year which would marvellously enhance the holiday for fellow Parkinsons sufferers and hip/knee recoverers like ourselves ,compliance with local planning regulations to which they adhere ,is considered adequate. In complete and delightful contrast to senior official attitudes, the customer care team (led by Natascha Eschke) do their utmost to ensure your holiday is a success. Natascha listens patiently to mobility issues, makes a real difference and we so appreciated the concessions she offered and achieved. At reception Fanny and Laura are exceptionally attentive and kind, supported by Juan who dispenses local knowledge and master-minded our private transfer visit to picturesque Valldemosa. Tony ,the vibrant concierge, was our star support this year and last -always going the extra mile with such courtesy and Marda and Moisés by the pools diligently delivered drinks coffee and snacks with such charm and energy. The rooms at the Valparaiso are particularly comfortable and spacious although the key cards were not at all reliable. Breakfast is quite spectacular from fresh orange juice (among others),fruit of every description , eggs to order, bread, patisseries and of course cava to start the day with a sparkle. Room service sadly was not of the same standard and indeed after one or two misunderstandings it transpire that the room service menu in our room was outdated and therefore different from that in the kitchen. - possibly another aspect to which management could direct some attention. In conclusion, our sincere appreciation and thanks to everyone in Natascha's team - you are wonderful - we had a lovely holiday in spite of our struggles. A formal plea to the owners for a handrail at the upper outdoor jacuzzi if not down the dangerous stone steps and with fortune we will return! Collapse

I went with some girlfriends for a weekend break and it was all that we wanted and more...the rooms are great and the view from the higher floors are spectacular. We stayed in a room overlooking the port and Palma. The breakfasts are a feast and the staff were all friendly and attentive at all times. Both outdoor pools are clean and wonderful to swim in and cocktails by the pool were an added bonus (can recommend the Aparol spritzers) easy to walk or get taxi's into town but would get a taxi back as very steep walk back!! I did it but it was tough!! We loved this hotel so much we are going back again later in the year. Collapse
