An amazing venue. Great music at dinner and a spa to die for! Room really comfortable and staff so helpful. Hired car although parking a nightmare for restaurants in town. Great bike rides along the beach road and easy to hire

If you like bland, unappetising food, total lack of atmosphere, characterless staff, tasteless Vulgari catalogues, v v expensive mini bars this is the place for you. I can honestly say this place has no redeeming features, stuck on a hill top some way from the centre of Palma it feels more like an asylum than a 5 star hotel that it purports to be. It is trying to be something it is just not and cannot be. Offering a service and a product that it cannot achieve no matter how hard it tries. Smartly dressed staff, Caviar offered at the bar, extortionately priced drinks, fancy brochures & Vulgari catalogues littered around do not immediately transform you into some holier than thou 5 Star establishment where the reception area feels more like a crematorium waiting room where you are the next one to be cremated. The rooms are featureless, another forgettable hotel room that does not make you want to stay an extra night or god forbid return. I really cannot think why you would want to pay through the nose to stay here when there are far better places around with less stars that have much more going for them. That said for those nearer the crematorium waiting room than I it may be just what they are looking for. This is not the centre of London or Madrid where 5 Star IS 5 Star along with a high standard of food, service and general ambience with all the attention to detail that one would expect. This is second rate 5 Star, maybe because as it has such a vantage point on top of a hill one is nearer the celestial cosmos. And by the way, do NOT order the Pizza off the menu, get one delivered from those who know how to make one. Go and spend your money elsewhere, do not stay here unless you have an urge to rehearse your final ending. Collapse

Having stayed in many of the city hotels in Palma, I decided to choose the Valparaiso Palace because of the pools. And I must say this is without doubt the best hotel I have used in Palma. On check in we were upgraded to a Junior suite which had recently been renovated and was extremely comfortable and spacious. As it was a corner room it had a wrap around balcony with two sets of tables and chairs so we could enjoy the sun at different times, plus a lovely view over Palma harbour toward the cathedral. We used the main pool each day, which is accessed through what looks like a very impressive spa. As it was early October the pool was pretty quiet every day, with most of the guests of an older generation, so no children and no animation teams, just peace and quiet. There were lots of sun beds available anyway. The area itself was kept very clean and tidy and towels are provided in the spa or at the pool bar. I have seen some comments on TA about people reserving sun beds by leaving towels, but from what I could see that was primarily where people had used the bed for a short while then simply left the towels behind. Anyway, the pool attendant did an occasional walk around to clear what were obviously discarded towels. We used the pool bar, which was very nice, but perhaps a little on the expensive side, with a plate of nachos costing 12 euros. They do not serve snacks or crisps etc so if you get the munchies while you are by the pool it is best to provide your own beforehand. The breakfast was very good, not as much selection as some other Spanish hotels I have used, but most things were catered for, with eggs being cooked to order. We used the Bistro on the first night and again the food was excellent, but after that we took the short taxi ride ( 7 euros) into Palma where there are many excellent restaurants and bars. The Valparaiso Palace was an excellent choice for an autumn short break and we will definitely use it again. The only other comment I can make is that they seem to attract a lot of conferences and there was one during our stay, but we didn't find any disturbances from it. All of the staff were very friendly and polite, so top marks all around I think!! Collapse

I spent 5 days last september and I can say that Valparaiso Palace is a good place to stay for a long weekend. We definetely enjoyed the room and the staff at reception. Service in all areas was great (maybe you should be more expontaneous and fresh) but what we really loved was people at your Spa. The Spa itself is a huge facility, big pool, saunas...everything clean and tidy. And your staff there....what can we say...they are high-end people, specially Gemma, which is one of the best therapist I've ever tried. DEfinetely you shouldn't forget to ask for her if you want to enjoy a truly massage (not this common "just-oil-treatment"). As a "black point", we should comment that your double test system (after the treatment and before) is very annoying, because after the massage we just want to relax, not giving a mark to the therapist (this is not an exam!). Definetely, Valparaiso is a great place to stay in Palma, great service, great facilities, close to the city center and kind of haven if you are looking for a place to relax from your day by day. Having stayed at this hotel in 2014, 2015 & 2016 and loved it that much we kept coming back, I must say that my wife and I are not very impressed this time around. The staff are not here in numbers and the service is not nearly as good as it has been before. Breakfast is a washout unless you get there before 0930, if you arrive after then do not expect to be offered tea or coffee! The gym is still very minimalistic, it really requires some money pumped into it. The staff do not seem to want to assist, maybe they are tired from having completed a long season but we are paying a lot of money per day/night to live here. My wife and I have booked another hotel in Palma from Saturday to Monday so fingers crossed the service is better than our latest experience at the Valparaiso. #Notafivestarhotel Collapse
