Visiting the island for the first time with my daughter for a week's "chill" break, we anticipated limitations to travel around the area because we did not have use of a car. However, the bus services were regular, user friendly, safe and cheap. Puerto Pollensa was our favourite resort with tasteful shops and eating places. The areas we visited were clean and the people friendly. The old town of Alcudia is a delight and bustling particularly at night, with a great atmosphere. The markets in both towns are well worth a visit. Our only regret is that we did not get to Formentor by boat. A trip we planned to take but were too busy relaxing in the glorious sunshine. The Hotel Maritimo was a great base. The hotel was immaculately clean and the services excellent. All the staff we met were very helpful and we would certainly choose this hotel again. Collapse

Just arrived home after a week at The Maritimo. Allocated a room on the 5th floor room 505 facing the main pool, nice quiet room recently refurbished , well decorated , comfy bed, plenty of hangers in wardrobe, safe in room pay a deposit and returned at end of week, the only thing i would say about the safe , it is on adhesive tape which was not really secure , we would prefere if it was bolted down just a suggestion. Room cleaned daily , towels changed if required, mini toiletries replenished. Food plentiful and always found plenty of choice. Best part was the chocolate fountain which was very popular. Restaurant staff worked very hard and seemed to have the same waitress in the morning and evening, very efficient clearing away dirty dishes. The bar staff were superb always clearing glasses and aware if someone needed serving. One morning i got locked in the bathroom luckily my husband was the other side of the door and opened it, reported it to reception and by the time we returned after breakfast it had been repaired. Plenty of sunbeds , we did not see anyone putting towels out early in the mornings and just leaving them, it might be as it is early in the season. Evening entertainment was ok, our favourite was the Jersey Beats, Jersey boys tribute act. The Maritimo is at the quieter end of Alcudia, few bars and restaurants around but we loved a little place down on the beach, turn left out of the hotel , cross over the road and about 400yds down turn left where there is a sign Hawaiian bar and the beach bar is at the end of the lane. If you like a nice walk, turn right out of hotel, 1st right, walk down to a bridge turn right ( do not go over the bridge) and you can walk around a lovely lake, there are no bars or cafes along the way. If you like a longer walk, takes about 45-50mins all the way down into the main part of Alcudia and the harbour, there is a walkway along part of the beach and lovely bars. Go back 1 street and some great eateries. Taxi back to hotel approx 8-10 €. From the hotel and across the road there are many paths to get to the lovely beach. On the whole a lovely hotel in a quieter area, not the place if you want a lively hotel, then you need to be further down the strip. The crowning glory of this hotel are the hard working staff and their friendliness. Collapse

Two years ago the food was excellent. Now it was ok but not more. We got a room that was flooded when we were having breakfast. Water from the souer all over the floor. The rooms are very nice and the beach are great

The Hotel is spotless and well presented, rooms are to a good standard and staff very polite and friendly Foods ok but nothing special so don't be fooled by the reviews like we were, it's just standard hotel food and the several reviews about English bacon are false, it's the Spanish version as you'd expect. You are expected to wear long trousers at dinner, I didn't bring trousers with me as I'm under 60 and it's Spain in June but I wasn't stopped. I wore chino shorts. Obviously if they warned you on booking it would be fair enough but they don't. Pool areas are good especially the kids pool for our 2 year old but they are in the shade half the day and you need to move around hotel chasing sun, that said you can always get sun lounger as it's mainly older people who don't like sitting in sun all day Wifi's dreadful, and doesn't work so ended up buying data. The rowing machines in gym are broke. The area the hotel is in isn't great and has nowhere nice nearby to eat or drink, it's a 20 minute walk to nearest cluster of bars/restaurants etc and when you get there you wish you hadn't, tacky bars and amusements. There's a lovely lake behind the hotel where we went to sit and watch the sunset every night, unfortunately there's no bars to enjoy a drink at as they're all around at the amusements, so we just sat on edge of lake. The beach has seaweed along a lot of shoreline making access limited, nothing like the pictures and again no bars to sit and enjoy view. There's no path along beach to the port so your left with having to walk along the side of busy main road which is badly paved, get a bus or get a taxi, again just low end burger bars and steakhouses doing English food badly instead of doing Spanish food well. To sum up, it's a decent hotel and if it sorted out the wifi it would be 4 star, my main complaint is the resort itself, alcudia beach and playa muro are very low end which would be fair enough if it was low end prices but it's not, it's more expensive than barcalona and vilamoura which we've been to in last year and they are in a completely different league. Reception area is amazing, beautifully refurbished and air conditioned. Staff were obviously very happy in their jobs as they were so pleasant and it was smiles all around. The management of this hotel is spot on, we could find absolutely nothing to complain about. Only, maybe, our room hadn't been refurbished ( they all have now!) at the time. The amazing array of food served everyday at the restaurant was unbelievable, the best we've ever had. The chefs would prepare some of it in front of you. You could have freshly cooked omelette for breakfast, there was something for everyone. What I really liked was that the first time you went to the dining room you were shown to a table, that was your table for the duration of your holiday. The dining room is air conditioned. We were seated in the conservatory area. Lovely as it looked, it was unbearable in the heat of July! The evening entertainment was fantastic, professional acts five nights out of seven. We saw tribute acts, Chinese circus acrobats, African drummers and a comedian. The bar area was very well managed and you an get some lovely snacks and drinks. There is a bus stop outside the hotel and it is very cheap to hop on and off the bus and travel to different resorts. Alcudia itself is a bit tacky but old Alcudia and the harbour area are lovely. The beach is just across the road from the hotel and is lovely in the evenings. This is the only hotel I really want to go back to and after staying for two weeks I can't find another hotel I like as much. Collapse
