The Grove, London's country estate, is more than a five star hotel. Set in 300 acres and only 18 miles from central London, the former home of the Earls of Clarendon is also a luxury 18 hole golf resort, a fabulous spa and unique venue for meetings, weddings and celebrations.
Hidden away in the heart of this Grade II Listed mansion near London, each bedroom is a fabulous blend of period style and original modern art and furniture. You could opt for the contemporary deluxe rooms in the West Wing where the hotel stretches through gardens towards Sequoia Spa. With 217 bedrooms you have the choice of spending the night in a superior bedroom, a deluxe bedroom or even one of 26 phenomenal Mansion bedrooms. All of the bedrooms are non-smoking.
There are three restaurants including the to-dine for Colette's. A Walled Garden with urban beach and extensive leisure facilities. Anouska's Kids' Club, graded outstanding by OFSTED, makes The Grove parent and child-friendly.

We stayed here overnight and from the minute we checked in the staff couldn't do enough for you,the doors were always opened for me I got taken to my room and showed how everything worked, even thought they were very busy.I had lunch in the stables bar whilst my husband played golf and the service was great ,my glass was never empty and the staff we're friendly and polite .Then we had dinner on the stables restaurant and the service was amazing again the staff were very knowledgeable about the food and wine and attentive and polite. We have been to other 5 star hotels where the inside of the rooms were better as I felt the bathroom was a little dated(that's the only reason I have 4 stars). The room was clean and the towels were soft and the bed was comfortable to sleep in but if your looking for a great service this is definitely the place for you ,my husband said the same about the people who worked st the golf course. So we would definitely stay here again . Sadly, this was not the weekend we expected having chosen this hotel for a weekend away with friends (3 families) for a birthday celebration. All 3 families are frequent visitors and we all left very disappointed with the standard of service. The ground floor room we had been allocated had no nets/blinds for privacy. This seemed bizarre and I can't understand why the ground floor rooms on the car park side have nets but the garden side don't. A simple request for 2 cappuccinos resulted in one with chocolate on top and one without. When I queried the presentation I was told one had the chocolate BENEATH the foam. Mmmm?!?! The children's pool STILL doesn't have enough chairs for parents to sit and observe their kids. Overall, service was slow and patchy, a bit understaffed. And for the price we paid, I felt a bit ripped off - never a nice feeling. There's a good choice of equivalently priced places in the south east but have frequently returned here as it has been consistently great. Now I'm not so sure. Collapse

We couldn't believe it is 10 years sine we were here last, but there are many golf courses to play and hotels to stay in around the UK. Firstly, the service from arriving to checking out was impeccable, as you would expect, but it was not over the top just right. Our room was ready at 10-30 so we were able to freshen up before golf. The golf was fabulous, playing the course after the Masters was a bonus, as it was still in great condition. The course has matured very well since our last visit. We had a drink after golf in the Stables, which I must say I think is very over priced. Dinner was in the Glasshouse, which was lovely & a super choice, we never felt rushed even though we had to dine early as we had left it late to book a table. The room & bathroom were lovely as they should be. Breakfast was a great selection buffet style, my only negative is that as I require lactose free milk I should have requested this at booking, but there was soya milk available! A lovely stay in a hotel in beautiful grounds, hopefully we will return within 10 years! Collapse
5 star facilities and staff but the food is undesirable!

So after a special anniversary trip, we had mixed feelings about this hotel. The reasons why- Positive things: 1. Very friendly staff ( in particularly Nana and the stable staff). If you bring your kids here, they are well looked after. Staff are extremely attentive to them. 2. Great grounds- good for walks and excellent in summer I imagine. I guess to fully appreciate the hotel grounds you need a good few hours. 3. A nice bedroom with a comfortable bed, a cotbed available without requesting it and a toy box for kids. 4. The lounge area was lovely with relaxing live music and relaxing little rooms for privacy or excitable kids. 5. The childrens facilities ( the kids swimming pool), half term activities and the kids menu are excellent. Negative points: 1. As the first point of call, we had an unhelpful guy who was on the reception desk. Eg. Lacked customer service skills. But I think overall, the reception staff were ok. To be honest, we found the doormen and restaurant staff more helpful. 2. Even though the service at the stables was great, the food was a big let down. Vegetarians are not really catered for well and their vegetarian burger was worse than a budget supermarket brand given the price you pay for this. But as I mentioned the serving staff were excellent hence why we didn't complain. 3. There are limited gluten free options- for a 'leading hotel in the world' it is disappointing especially at breakfast and their restaurants. 4. Breakfast was ok but a few points - the quality of food wasn't as expected for a 5star, staff were overstretched and it was very busy so go outside the 9-10 am window. 5. Again in comparison with other leading hotels, there are normally free snacks in the minibar, unfortunately you don't get that here expect 2 bottles of water at turndown and some cookies. Overall, if your going for a special occasion I would choose to go somewhere else as the 'value for money' is not quite there. There are other 5 star hotels which offer much more for your money. My husband on the other hand would say" I would go there for the facilities ( eg the grounds and the Glasshouse) without needing to stay there, because it's just not worth it" Collapse

Spent a weekend with the family and really enjoyed our time. Our 3 young kids were greeted with a friendly staff and toys in the room for them to play with. We were able to use the creche, in addition to the hotel even sourcing a babysitter to watch the kids while my wife and I enjoyed dinner on the property at Colette's. The rooms are well equipped, but not overly impressive. The property however is quite impressive. Having played golf here several times, I knew the course and facilities were top notch. The rest of the property does not disappoint. The pool complex includes a small but functional indoor pool, as well as a nicely sized outdoor pool with a staffed bar. Also, there are volleyball courts, football pitches, table tennis, etc. There is a walking path the winds around the course and touches the canal, the sculptures in garden, and peaceful terrace for al fresco dining/drinks. In addition, the property hosted a falconry display on the weekend to keep the family entertained. With all the said though, the standout from the weekend was the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. They made our family feel welcome and went out of their way to accommodate us wherever possible. Collapse
